Raw Deal - Raw recap for April 16, 2018

General Manager Kurt Angle shows up to start tonight's show. Angle welcomes the Hartford, Connecticut to the show as well as the Superstar Shakeup. After saying there will be new faces and big surprises, he is interrupted by Sunil Singh, who introduces Jinder Mahal as the newest member of the Raw roster. Jinder tells Angle he has made a wide decision by bringing him to Raw and securing the show's position as the A-show. He then questions why he was brought into the arena in an SUV instead of a motorcade. Angle welcomes him to Raw, and tells him they never agreed on a limousine. Jinder goes on to say he is better than anybody on SmackDown Live and that he is already better than anybody on Raw, and that this is his kingdom and that he demands the same perks as Brock Lesnar. Jinder goes on to say he is better than anybody on SmackDown Live and that he is already better than anybody on Raw, and that this is his kingdom and that he deserves the same perks as Brock Lesnar. Angle then tells Jinder to prove himself, and announces that Jinder will be defending the WWE United States Championship against anybody in an open challenge right now. The open challenge is answered by Jeff Hardy.

Jeff Hardy beats Jinder Mahal to become the WWE United States Champion!

Backstage, Renee Young interviews Jinder Mahal, who says this is part of a conspiracy to be embarrassed on Raw by General Manager Kurt Angle and that he will invoke his rematch clause at Greatest Royal Rumble. He also says that if Angle does something like this again, he will do something to him. That something is never explained when No Way Jose shows up with a conga line full of dancers and tells Jinder to put a smile on his face before dancing away with Renee.

Bayley vs. Sasha Banks ends when The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) - fresh out of SmackDown Live - show up and attack Sasha. After the attack on Sasha, Riott hits the Riott Kick on Bayley.

The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) beat Heath Slater and Rhyno.

It's time for Miz TV. Miz says Jinder Mahal and The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) have shaken up Raw, but his next guest will cause a seismic shift: Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Sami and Kevin show up, and The Miztourage (The Miz, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel), Kevin and Sami celebrate with a group hug. Miz says that the five of them are the biggest group of talents in the business today, even better than the New World Order, and says they are WWE's version of The Avengers. He also says they will not be held down by the powers that be at SmackDown Live, and together, they are changing the landscape of the WWE and changing Raw into their image and putting the locker room on notice. Suddenly, General Manger Kurt Angle shows up and tells Miz that he has no control over the show; he does. He says Sami and Owens had their opportunity last week, and they both lost. Kevin and Sami then present an e-mail that they had gotten not long ago, which reveals that Commissioner Stephanie McMahon signed them onto Raw after overruling Angle's decision from last week and offering them contracts. The Miztourage, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn gloat about Stephanie's decision, and after Miz mocks Angle, Angle welcomes Kevin and Sami before saying "Say goodbye to The Miz." Angle then says that SmackDown Live General Manager Paige and Commissioner Shane McMahon were adamant about getting The Miz on their brand. The Miz tells Angle he cannot do that, but Angle says he can and he did, and that Angle made SmackDown Live the A-show because The Miztourage will be doing the same thing there that they have done on Raw. Angle corrects Miz by saying Miz is going to SmackDown Live without The Miztourage, and that Kevin, Sami and The Miztourage will take on Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman and a fifth Superstar who is debuting on Raw in a ten-man tag match.

Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy say they are here.

Sheamus and Cesaro guest on commentary for the next match.

Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy beat The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) to win the Tag Team Eliminator and face Sheamus and Cesaro for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships at Greatest Royal Rumble.

A segment explaining that WWE pay-per-views will be co-branded again starting with Backlash on May 6th is shown.

Backstage, Sheamus and Cesaro are talking about Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy. Sheamus says he has never seen a weirder tag team, then Breezango show up. Fandango announces the Fashion Police have been moved to a new precinct, and Tyler Breeze says they are cleaning up the streets of Raw. They write tickets for Sheamus' mohawk and Sheamus and Cesaro's kilts. Sheamus and Cesaro are outraged.

General Manager Kurt Angle and "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey talk about their WrestleMania match backstage. Angle says WrestleMania was just the beginning, and that Commissioner Stephanie McMahon will not go away quietly. Suddenly, Natalya shows up, and it is revealed that Natalya and Rousey train together. Natalya says that coming to Raw is a fresh start for her.

Nia Jax guests on commentary for the next match.

Ember Moon beats Mickie James. During the match, we hear from Alexa Bliss - who is supposed to guest on commentary for this match, but never shows - who says that she does not want to be near Nia Jax and that Nia wants to rub her loss in her face. She also says she refuses to give Nia Jax the satisfaction.

In the locker room, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn talk about their arrival on Raw as well as their ten-man tag match. Sami is worried about Braun Strowman, and Owens is worried about the mystery man on the other team. As Kevin Owens mentions SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon, The Miz shows up wanting to know what Shane is like. Sami tells Miz to focus on Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel and their match. Miz tells everyone else that this is his Raw finale, and that they must make their match must-see.

Dolph Ziggler shows up straight out of SmackDown Live. He says that he still steals the show everywhere he goes and is the best superstar to walk down the aisle. All of a sudden, as Dolph talks about how one thing has changed, Titus Worldwide (Titus O'Neil, Apollo, Dana Brooke) shows up. Titus O'Neil welcomes Dolph Ziggler, and tells him things that have changed, such as him creating Titus Worldwide. He then tries to recruit Dolph into Titus Worldwide. Titus considers Dolph a "multi-platform superstar," and says that if Dolph joins them, Titus Worldwide can conquer the world. Dolph then says that one thing has changed: that he did not come back to Raw alone. He then tears Titus' business card up. All of a sudden, someone attacks Titus from behind. That someone is Drew McIntyre, and he takes out Apollo before Dolph and Drew gang up on Titus. Drew then unloads a ground and pound attack on Apollo, then Dolph and Drew hit both the Zig Zag and the Claymore on Apollo at the same time.

Roman Reigns shows up. Roman says that once again, he is here and Brock Lesnar is not, and once again, he will face Brock Lesnar. He then says that this time, he will leave Brock Lesnar in the cage and come back as "your full-time Universal Champion." After he announces that tonight is Superstar Shake-Up night, Samoa Joe shows up. Joe tells Roman that he is quick to brag about showing up for work, and that he has noticed that the one thing he does not brag about is getting the job done as he has never got the job done and never will. He says that Roman says he will get in the ring and become a champion, but he fails to understand that he is getting in the ring with a beast who has beaten him every time he has stepped in the ring with him. Joe says he wants to feel sorry for him, but he says Roman fails to know his place when he is beaten over and over again and fails to learn from it until someone puts him down for good. He says he is here to bring that sweet mercy, for after Lesnar is done with Roman, he will put Roman to sleep once and for all. Joe then plays a video package on the TitanTron showing what Lesnar has done to Roman in the past. After the video package is over, Roman says that is everything that Brock has done, and tells Joe to get in the ring and show what his "lazy, fat ass" can do. Joe heads halfway down the ramp before stopping and turning around towards the back. He stops, then throws his towel down and goes down the ramp again. He then tells Roman he will see him at Backlash on his time, then heads back up the ramp to the back once more.

Natalya beats Mandy Rose with the Sharpshooter. After the match, Sonya Deville strikes at Natalya, then she and Mandy Rose gang up on Natalya before "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey heads to the ring to make the save for Natalya. Sonya and Mandy slowly back out of the ring, then decide it is a good idea to go after Rousey. Sonya gets in the ring and tries to egg Rousey on, but Rousey overpowers Sonya and knocks her down. Rousey then checks on Natalya.

We see a video package for Baron Corbin, who is announced as the newest addition to the Raw roster.

Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) gets an upset win on Sheamus and Cesaro after Breezango gets a roll-up on Cesaro after Fandango pulls Sheamus off the apron from the outside.

Renee Young interviews Elias. Elias says he refuses to play tonight, and that if Lashely ever interrupts him again, he will learn that WWE stands for "Walk With Elias." He then says that Renee Young earned a private concert, and while Renee says there is no time for a concert. Elias tries to play anyway. Renee ends the interview as Elias continues to play.

Next week: Brock Lesnar makes an appearance!

The mystery man in the ten-man tag team match is revealed to be Bobby Roode.

Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley and Bobby Roode beat Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and The Miztourage (The Miz, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel) after Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel leave The Miz high and dry and walk to the back now that The Miztourage is split up.
