Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 3, 1999

RAW

The show starts with the entrance of The Corporate Ministry. Shane calls them the most omnipotent force in the WWF, and says he will not be held responsible for anything that happens to anybody who gets in their faces. He knows that people are calling him ruthless and saying he has a black heart, and that he has no compassion He draws a line there, because he knows and understands what compassion is for the fans, and that he does not expect the fans to show any for him as none of them can walk in his shoes. He says he has compassion and knows what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck, then drawn one's sorrows in the cheapest vodka from the liquor store every Friday night, hate one's boss, and hate one's wife He says there is a word that compassionate people like him call those people: losers. Shane says he has the looks, money and brainpower, and asks who in the crowd could fathom the power he possesses. Whether it be WWF co-owner Vince McMahon, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin or The Rock, it feels good to seize the power and crush the opposition at any time. He asks who in the crowd who would have "balls the size of grapefruits" to slap their maker in the face, and says not a single person would be able to do it. "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley takes the microphone and addresses The Rock, whom he calls "a crock" and "a big farce," saying The Rock's fate is in his hands at Over The Edge. He says the people call him "The People's Champ," and says it speaks volumes about how the people worship "a piece of crap" just because he can raise an eyebrow, drop an elbow and think of catchphrases and marketing ploys for everybody. He says The Rock keeps singing his songs and doing his comedy routines, but at Over The Edge, there will be nothing funny about how he ends The Rock's career. The Undertaker then takes the microphone and says it is really simple: he hates everyone, but Austin's name is on the top of the list, asking who he thinks he is by trying to be everyone's savior. The Undertaker says he let Austin go his own way and co-exist, but now, he will be the judge, jury and executioner. At Over The Edge, he will take Austin's title, beat Austin like he has never been beaten before, and then carry his carcass over the shoulder and take him to Raw where he will be the ultimate sacrifice to a power even greater than he. He says that Austin will now he is the Lord of Darkness, and there is nothing Austin or anybody else can do about it. Shane tells Austin to remember that he will witness the pinfall first-hand, as he will be the special guest referee for that match and The Undertaker will be WWF Champion. Shane then address WWF co-owner Vince McMahon, telling him he has two hours to get here, because he has his master plan and the last piece of the puzzle. Suddenly, Mankind, Test, Big Show and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock are on the stage with 2x4s. Mankind says that they worked for The Corporation at one time, and that Shane might as well call them "disgruntled former employees." He then tells Shane that the four of them have banded together to form a union. They may not have a fancy name, but there are a "union of people you oughta respect, son." Mankind then makes initials out of that, and decides to call the group "U.P.Y.O.U.R.S." (The Union of People You OUghta Respect, Son, which is known henceforth as "The Union.") Big Show walks down the ramp, Mankind stops him, and says that while Vince may have been an asshole, but when Vince was running the show, they were at least compensated for their work, and since Shane took over, their paychecks suck. Shane may think he may have their financial future in his hands, but if he messes with them, his testicles will be in theirs. Mankind then leads the charge, and all four men surround the ring. The Union lays waste to The Corporate Ministry. Shane escapes along with The Undertaker and tells The Union they have not seen the last of them, and that they are going down tonight.

"Bad Ass" Billy Gunn beats X-Pac with a low blow to counter the Bronco Buster prior to the Fameasser. After the match, Billy Gunn grabs a steel chair, but "Road Dogg" Jesse James stops Billy Gunn. Gunn and Road Dogg then start brawling, and Road Dogg comes out on top. As Road Dogg checks on X-Pac, Gunn hits Road Dogg with the steel chair. Kane shows up, and Billy Gunn gets out of the ring and Kane gets in. Kane then helps X-Pac to the back.

We hear WWF co-owner Shane McMahon screaming from behind his dressing room, saying that there will be repercussions and that The Union is going down tonight.

The Corporate Ministry shows up again. WWF co-owner Shane McMahon says he has made a few changes to tonight's show, and tells everyone to throw away their show programs and formats. We then go backstage, where WWF co-owner Vince McMahon shows up with Stephanie McMahon and his wife, Linda McMahon. Two police officers flank them. Shane announces that The Big Boss, Viscera and Mideon will face Test in a 3-on-1 handicap match, and also puts Mankind in a hardcore match against The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw). "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley gets a match against "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, and Chyna is made the special guest referee after Tripe H whispers in his here. He then tells The Mean Street Posse (Rodney and Pete Gas) that he saw Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco backstage, and puts them in a match against Patterson and Brisco. Shane then announces that Big Show will be in a match against The Undertaker. He also makes an Evening Gown Match between Debra and Sable, with the loser being stripped to their bra and anties. As Vince's party watches from backstage, Triple H gives Shane more ideas. Shane then makes a match between The Rock and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Triple H says that they should give credit where credit is due, and that they should up the ante on that match. Triple H whispers into his ear again, and Shane makes the match a special Lumberjack Match where the lumberjacks are none other than The Corporate Ministry. Shane then says he has one more slot open, but before he can mention it, Vince McMahon shows up. Stephanie, Linda and the two police officers follow, and Shane is surprised that his mother Linda is here. Vince tells Shane to stop now before he goes too far, but Shane says he has not even begun to go far enough as this is his time and he is running the show. Vince tells Shane that he is about to make a big mistake, and that he should think long and hard before he does. He tells Shane to get his stuff together, as his family is standing behind him. Shane tells Vince that if he wants to bring it, they can have a match, as he has taken his company out from under him and all he has to left to take is his ass. He tells Vince to think about the box office dollars he could be earning with such a match, but Vince is not interested. Vince says that if Shane won't listen to him or Stephanie, maybe he will listen to Linda. Linda doesn't say much before Shane tells her to shut up. Vince grabs Shane by the collar, and Shane dares Vince to have a go at him. Linda and Stephanie leave the ring, as does Vince, but Shane says "I can have him do it again." Shane then reveals he was the mastermind behind Stephanie's kidnapping, and that he did it so that Vince would leave the business and he could pick up the pieces. He even let The Undertaker into their house, which allowed for the pictures to be taken as well as the teddy bear to be taken. He also says he picked out the black dress that Stephanie was forced to wear. Vince runs into the ring, be he is attacked by The Corporate Ministry. After the Ministry leaves, Shane says he takes Vince running into the ring as a "yes." Vince screams back at him "You're damn right!"

Backstage, Linda McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco try to talk WWF co-owner Vince McMahon out of fighting his son, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon. Vince says he will kick Shane's ass, and he asks the policeman to take Linda and Stephanie to a hotel.

Before the next match, Rodney tells Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco to put down the Geritol and come down to the ring and face the music Mean Street style, as they are in the house and they will put them back in the old folks' home. Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco are then seen heading to the ring for the match while WWF owner Vince McMahon is seen wearing his black tanktop.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco beat The Mean Street Posse (Rodney and Pete Gas) after Patterson and Brisco give Rodney and Pete Gas the beatings of their lives and send them out of the ring.

WWF co-owner Shane McMahon tells The Corporate Ministry that it is time for a bit of an office visit backstage.

Backstage, The Corporate Ministry look for WWF co-owner Vince McMahon's office.

Test beats The Corporate Ministry (The Big Boss Man, Mideon, Viscera) after The Big Boss Man accidentally nails Mideon with his nightstick behind referee Jimmy Korderas' back. After the match, Boss Man, Mideon and Viscera continue to attack Test, but the rest of The Union (Mankind, Big Show, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock) rush into the ring and clear the ring.

The Corporate Ministry is seen backstage leaving WWF co-owner Vince McMahon's office, assaulting him on their way out.

WAR ZONE

Before the next match, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon dares his father, WWF co-owner Vince McMahon, not to keep him waiting. He says he knew Vince didn't have the guts to take him on, as he knew he could take him. He says that Vince took his daughter Stephanie McMahon and his wife Linda McMahon and skedaddled, and that Vince could not take him and face the facts that he runs the show now. He says it would please him so much to make his way to the ring, as he wants to annihilate him for the entire world to witness, but unfortunately, that will not happen now. Shane then asks the referee to raise his hand and declare him the winner, but Vince McMahon shows up, grabbing his left rib and obviously in no shape to fight. Vince falls halfway down the ramp, and Shane takes advantage by clothesline him before attacking him while he is down.

Vince McMahon beats Shane McMahon after he is able to fight back and hit Shane with a Stone Cold Stunner. The crowd calls Shane a loser after the match, and Shane tells Vince that this is far from over.

The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) beat Mankind in a hardcore handicap match after a two-man powerbomb through two steel chairs on Mankind.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley beats "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock after special guest referee Chyna repeatedly shows partiality towards Triple H.

Big Show beats The Undertaker by disqualification. During the match, Paul Bearer hands a bottle of ether to The Undertaker, who douses one of his elbow pads with it. As soon as he gets Big Show in a sleeper, Big Show nearly goes unconscious. Bearer hands The Undertaker a baseball bat, and smashes it into the head of a dazed Big Show. After the match, The Undertaker continues to beat up Big Show, telling him that this is his show.

Before the next match, Sable is on the TitanTron. She says she would love to take Shane up on her offer of an Evening Gown Match, but she is at Hugh Hefner's Playboy mansion preparing for the photo shoot for her second Playboy cover. She says that she has a stunt double who will fill in for her, as she does not want to bruise her body. She also tells Debra not to rip her dress. The stunt double ends up being Nicole Bass. Debra wants none of her, and she immediately throws in the towel and takes her dress off. Nicole grabs Debra, but Jeff Jarrett saves the day by smashing a guitar into Nicole Bass' head. Val Venis runs in and sends Jarrett out of the ring, then walks out with Debra as Jarrett gives chase.

We see footage of Jeff Jarrett and Val Venis brawling backstage during the commercial break.

The Lumberjack Match between The Rock and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin ends before it begins when The Corporate Ministry - who make up all the lumberjacks in this match - get in the ring only for Austin and The Rock to clean house. WWF co-owner Shane McMahon shows up before the numbers game catches up to The Rock and Austin, but WWF co-owner Vince McMahon shows up and sends the entire locker room after The Corporate Ministry. The WWF locker room overwhelms The Corporate Ministry, but The Undertaker, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna end up getting their hands on The Rock. Austin almost saves the day after he comes out from underneath the stage - where he hid moments ago - and through the elevator shaft, but The Undertaker and Austin fight on the shaft as it comes down and smoke comes out. This leaves Triple H and Chyna alone with The Rock, and The Rock ends up fighting back. Austin comes back to get a piece of Triple H, but The Rock is knocked off the stage and into a table below while The Undertaker comes back and fights Austin again. The show ends with The Undertaker tosses Austin off the stage and into another table below.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for March 29, 1999

RAW

"Stone Cold" Stevie Austin shows up to start tonight's show. He asks the crowd to give him a "hell yeah," then says he did exactly what he said he would do at WrestleMania 15. He gives The Rock all the credit in the world because it was one heck of a fight, and says that when he woke up this morning and saw the WWF Championship sitting past a pile of beer cans, he realized it was not worth all the trouble and frustration, and that it wasn't going to cut it. He demands that WWF co-owner Vince McMahon show up so he can relinquish the WWF Championship. Vince shows up with a look of relief on his face, and Austin tells him to hurry up and take the belt. Vince asks if he is going to relinquish the title, and Austin says there are no tricks and that he will hand him the WWF Championship, just like that. Vince is reluctant to climb between the ropes and get in the ring, but Austin tells him to take it easy and get in the ring. Austin lets Vince take the WWF Championship, and Vince says that he knew Austin would crack under the pressure one day and wants to thank him, but he can't. Austin stops Vince before he can leave, and tells him he has some footage on the TitanTron: footage from Breakdown where Vince ran away with Austin's custom WWF Championship as well as the footage where Vince says that the title is going above his fireplace on the mantle at one of his homes. Austin tells him he can have that title back, but he is still the WWF Champion and there is nothing he can do about it. He says he is not through yet, and tells him to call one of his butlers to bring back his custom-made WWF Championship because that one is the one that he wants. He tells him he has two hours, and if he doesn't get it in time, he will beat his ass in front of everyone. Vince tells Austin the title is where it is, and every time he sees it, it reminds him he owns a piece of Austin. He says he will not be getting his custom-made championship back and that there is no reason for him to do so. Austin immediately asks the crowd to give him a "hell yeah" if they want to see him kick Vince's ass, but Vince tells Austin that if he lays a hand on him, he will fire him on the spot as per his contract. Austin then shows off more footage, this time from last night at WrestleMania 15 where Vince is taking the boots to Austin in the corner along with The Rock. Austin reminds him that this is considered physical provocation, which means Vince belongs to him for 24 hours and that he has two hours to give him the belt back or he will stomp a mudhole in his ass and walk it dry. Vince hits Austin with the WWF Championship and runs away, flips Austin off with both hands and then runs to the back. Austin tells Vince he can be a nice guy sometimes, and other times he can be a mean son-of-a-bitch. He says they will do it the hard way, and that Vince has two hours until his ass belongs to him.

Paul Bearer is seen arriving to the arena with The Undertaker and The The Ministry of Darkness.

WWF co-owner is seen with WWF co-owner Shane McMahon, Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco and a young woman named Stephanie. Vince asks Stephanie to call the house and get "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's custom-made championship belt down to the arena as soon as possible. Shane questions why Vince is doing this, but Vince says he has got this and that he will take care of it his way.

Tori and Ivory beat Sable and Jacqueline after Tori chases Terri Runnels to the back as the latter tries to light her cigar before Sable smacks Jacqueline from behind with the WWF Women's Championship, giving Tori the win. After the match, Tori and Sable stare down, but the lights go out and The Ministry of Darkness show up. Tori is gone, but Sable is still in the ring when some semblance of light returns to the arena. The Undertaker says he came out here to see what she's got, and Sable gyrates her hips before The Undertaker grabs her by the throat. The Undertaker tells WWF co-owner Vince McMahon that he has his meal ticket and that he can snap her like a twig, and wants him to come to the ring before he snaps her head off her shoulder. Vince is seen backstage, telling Shane and Stephanie to stay backstage in order to be safe, and he eventually makes his way to the stage. Vince asks The Undertaker what kind of man he is, and The Undertaker looks at the TitanTron. Vince then says Stephanie's name and leaves, and The Undertaker says it is nice to see Vince's true colors. He then wants to see what he thinks of his personal assets. Vince runs back to the back, and Stephanie is gone as security guards near the room are laid out.

WWF co-owners Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon do not call the cops on Stephanie's disappearance, and Vince refers to what The Undertaker did to The Big Boss Man last night. He also says that Stephanie could just as easily be in the parking lot. (It is mentioned on commentary afterwards that Stephanie is Vince McMahon's daughter, which means she is a McMahon.)

X-Pac shows up. One year ago tonight, he came back to the World Wrestling Federation because he got a call from a friend who told him "Kid, D-Generation X (X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) is falling apart. Please come and hold this thing together." He says that it's been a hell of a ride, and along with The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg, Billy Gunn), they have been kicking ass and taking names for a year straight, but that all changed last night. He says that we all have important choices to make in life, and last night, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley made his. Tonight, he makes his, and D-Generation X will not die, as he and The New Age Outlaws will come out each and every week, say "Suck it!" and raise hell. He tells Triple H that tonight, he is not Hunter, he is hunted. Tonight, they will fight, and Triple H's ass is grass and he's going to smoke it.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon tells WWF co-owner Shane McMahon that Stephanie McMahon is not in the parking lot. The phone rings, and Vince picks the phone up. The Undertaker is on the other end, saying it is true that Stephanie is sugar and spice and everything nice before laughing, confirming that Stephanie is Vince's daughter. Vince throws down the telephone receiver in disgust.

"The Big Show" Paul Wight, who has been released from jail on his own recognizance after his arrest from last night, quickly beats Test. After the match, Big Show says he knows WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is sitting in the back with some personal trauma on his hands, and when he sits back and thinks about it, he really doesn't give a damn. The first mistake Vince made was being dumb enough to think he owns him, as nobody owns The Big Show. As for Vince saying that everything would chance when he showed up in the WWF, Vince was right, and he is going to eat those words.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is seen backstage talking to "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, asking him to help him find Stephanie McMahon. Ken says if she is in the building, he will find her and bring her back, and leaves along with Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock looks around the building for Stephanie McMahon.

Jim Ross guests on Spanish commentary for the next match, demanding his job on the commentary table back and also putting "Dr. Death" Steve Williams over.

Hardcore Holly retains the WWF Hardcore Championship against "Dr. Death" Steve Williams. During the match, Dr. Death hits Hardcore Holly with the Oklahama Stampede, but the referee is knocked out by one of Holly's boots in the middle of the move. Al Snow shows up out of the crowd and hits Dr. Death with a frying pan, knocking him out. The referee comes to and counts the pinfall for Hardcore Holly. Jim Ross tells the referee what has happened, but the referee's decision is final.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon asks WWF co-owner Shane McMahon to take over the show and do what he needs to do.

WAR ZONE

WWF co-owner Shane McMahon accompanies The Rock to the ring before the next match, and guests on commentary.

The Rock beats "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn. During the match, The Rock takes a commentary headset and speaks on it briefly until Billy Gunn moons him, knocks the headset off The Rock's head, puts it on and tells WWF co-owner Shane McMahon to suck it.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon says The Undertaker may be near the ring, and tearfully asks "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock to bring Stephanie McMahon back. Shamrock says he will find Stephanie even if he has to tear The Undertaker's leg off.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats Gangrel with the ankle lock as he tries to get information on where Stephanie McMahon is. After the match, Shamrock is attacked from behind by Edge and Gangrel, and when he is covered in blood, he is seen putting Christian in an ankle lock. Christian tells him that Stephanie McMahon is in the basement.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock searches the basement of the arena for Stephanie McMahon.

Goldust beats "Road Dogg" Jesse James to become the WWF Intercontinental Champion for a third time. During the match, Ryan Shamrock tries to approach the ring, but The Blue Meanie stops her, saying Goldust doesn't want to hear what she has to say. Later on, Road Dogg gets the Meanie involved by whipping and slamming him into Goldust. In response, The Blue Meanie grabs the Intercontinental Championship and hits Road Dogg in the head with it as Goldust whips Road Dogg into the ropes and the referee is not looking to help Goldust earn the title. After the match, Goldust says the Intercontinental Championship has come home, and says "oh, what a raging climax that was." He says this is for all who didn't believe and didn't dream he would do this, and says he now knows what he was missing and now knows who he is. Very soon, everyone will know, too, and we will never, ever forget the name of Goldust.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock finds Stephanie McMahon, her make-up ruined and an Undertaker symbol on her forehead. Shamrock helps her out of the basement.

Stephanie McMahon is reunited with her father, WWF co-owner Vince McMahon. Vince says The Ministry of Darkness will pay.

Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett retains the WWF Tag Team Championships against The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) - now officially with Paul Ellering as their manager and no longer "L.O.D. 2000" - after Debra distracts the referee and Jarrett hits Animal in the head with a guitar. Before the match, it is announced that Backlash: In Your House will be live on pay-per-view Sunday night, April 25th.

A black limousine pulls up. The driver leaves the car and arrives with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's custom-made WWF Championship.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is with The Corporation and Stephanie McMahon, and is thanking "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock for his efforts in finding Stephanie when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's custom-made WWF Championship belt. Vince says the night is over, that he doesn't give a damn about the belt, and to just hand the title to Austin. Vince leaves with Stephanie to take her home, along with Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. After they all leave, Shane tells Shamrock this is not over, and to find The Rock and bring him to the room.

X-Pac beats "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley by disqualification. During the match, WWF co-owner Shane McMahon grabs X-Pac's leg as X-Pac readies the Bronco Buster. X-Pac chases after Shane only to be leveled with a clothesline by Chyna. After the match, Triple H continues to attack X-Pac, and Chyna low blows X-Pac before Triple H puts him in the Pedigree. The lights go out, and Kane shows up. Shane forearms Kane from behind, and Shane runs away. Triple H tries to fight Kane, but Kane hits him with a right hand. Chyna gets in the ring and confronts Kane, and Shane hands a steel chair to Triple H, who then hits Kane in the head with the steel chair. Chyna and Triple H then leave, but Kane gets up and grabs the steel chair before heading to the back. As this happens, Shane is seen hiding behind the English commentary table. Shane then grabs the microphone and gets in the ring, and tells "Stone Cold" Steve Austin he is doing things his way. He says he is a champion just like Austin, and if Austin wants his custom-made WWF Championship back, it will not be hard to find as it is around The Rock's waist. The Rock shows up with Austin's custom-made WWF Championship belt, and says that last night, the entire world witnessed him lay the smack down on Austin's candy ass, and he almost gives credit where credit is due. He admits that Austin defeated him, but says it took Stone Cold Stunners to beat him. Austin shows up and immediately goes after The Rock. Both men brawl, but Austin ends up hitting Shane with a Stone Cold Stunner before The Rock puts the boots to Austin and hits him in the face with the custom-made WWF Championship belt. Triple H returns and takes the boots to Austin along with The Rock, and Chyna, Test and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock also show up. Shamrock and Test also gets a piece of Austin as Chyna helps Shane to the back. Suddenly, "The Big Show" Paul Wight shows up and single-handedly fights off The Corporation. Shamrock gets a Stunner, and Triple H gets a choke slam to close out the show.

After the show goes off the air, "Triple H" gets a Stone Cold Stunner from "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, then Austin and "The Big Show" Paul Wight stand tall in the ring. Austin then brings a steel chair into the ring, and uses it against anyone who tries to get back in the ring. Triple H almost gets back in, but decides against it. The Corporation then make their way to the back. Austin catches two beers (two others are thrown, but Austin misses them), and Austin drinks the beers as he celebrates. Big Show waits in the corner of the ring, and Austin grabs the microphone. Austin says he went to WrestleMania 15 and burned the Smackdown Hotel to the ground, and asks The Rock - who is still on the ramp with WWF co-owner Shane McMahon - to come to the ring so he can drink a beer with Austin and let bygones be bygones, even going so far as to ask the crowd to give him a "hell yeah" if they want to see him and The Rock drink a beer together. The Rock is wary of getting in, as The Big Show is still there, but Austin says there is no trickery here. Austin and The Rock shake hands and drink a beer, then both men fight only for Austin to give The Rock a Stunner almost instantly. When The Rock stumbles back up, he eats another Stunner. Austin then leaves the ring, takes Shane and throws him to Big Show, who immediately choke slams Shane. Both Austin and Big Show have a beer together. The Rock leaves with Austin's custom-made WWF Championship belt. Austin then celebrates one more time, then tosses another beer to Big Show.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for March 22, 1999

RAW

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin makes his way to the arena, and looks at a Coors Light truck. The driver stops him to get his autograph, but Austin, pressed for time, promises him something better: a seat at tonight's show.

The Rock and WWF co-owners Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon show up. Vince says it is a privilege to stand before the fans tonight between "two great WWF champions" in the form of Shane and The Rock who will walk in and out of WrestleMania 15 as title holders. He gives the floor to the WWF European Champion, Shane McMahon. Shane says he has X-Pac's number and can take him, and at WrestleMania 15, it will be an honor and privilege to embarrass him in the ring. He cannot wait that long, because if X-Pac has the cojones, he challenges him to a Greenwich Street Fight outside of the arena tonight. Vince says the McMahon family is confident, as well they should be, for they are very secure, and when The Undertaker shows up, he will be busy with The Big Boss Man "and others." Vince says he has this all figured out, as The Undertaker and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin are conspiring together to divide his attention so he could not devote the proper amount of attention to preventing Austin from becoming WWF Champion again. He says that nothing will stop him from his appointed rounds, then gives the floor to the WWF Champion, The Rock. The Rock says he is focused six days before WrestleMania 15, when he goes into Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and ends Austin's career. Austin is seen watching from a monitor backstage, and that is seen on the TitanTron. The Rock is not surprised that Austin is watching him, as he says there is something about him that draws Austin towards him, and says Austin cannot wait until WrestleMania to go at it with him. When all is said and done, The Rock says there is no way that Austin will ever beat him to become WWF Champion. Austin walks away from the monitor and leaves. The Rock tells Austin to leave the building and get some fresh air, as he lives for two things: entertaining the millions - and millions - of his fans and to kick Austin's monkey ass all over God's green earth. Vince then says that as far as tonight is concerned, Austin will be facing "The Big Show" Paul Wight, which the fans will think is unfair. To make sure that Austin is six feet under and that everything is fair tonight, he appoints a special guest referee for that match: The Rock. Suddenly, Mankind shows up, and says he has a better idea: since he's the best referee there is, was and ever will be, he suggests that he and The Rock get in the ring tonight, with the winner becoming the special referee for Austin vs. Big Show. Vince says that Mankind has been having too many beers with Austin, but Mankind then proposes the idea to The Rock. The Rock tells Mankind to kiss his ass, but Mankind says he gave that up for Lent. He then says "he" would make Austin vs. Big Show and make The Rock the special guest referee for it, so he went to San Antonio, Texas, met with WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and signed a contract that makes The Rock vs. Mankind to decide the special guest referee for Austin vs. Big Show official. Mankind leaves, and Vince asks The Rock if he doesn't mind taking Mankind apart again. The Rock says he will lay Mankind on his candyass. Suddenly, Austin shows up, but instead of walking to the ring, he drives the Coors Light truck into the ring. The driver from earlier rides shotgun before Austin gets out and flips the bird with both hands on the top of the trailer. Austin asks the crowd to give him a "hell yeah" if they're ready for WrestleMania, and says he has been jerked around long enough. With or without Paul Wight as special guest referee, the WWF Championship is coming with him after WrestleMania. Austin says that for the last few weeks, he has heard The Rock talk and talk, and tells him to get serious as he will take his ass to Philadelphia, check into the Smackdown Hotel, roll right into room 3:16 and "burn that son-of-a-bitch to the ground." When the bell rings and the match is over, he will become the WWF Champion. Austin then says he will be drinking a lot of beer after WrestleMania, but suggests that he should share a pre-match beer right now. Austin gets off the truck, pulls out a hose, and sprays Vince, Shane and The Rock with it.

Before the next match, we see the "JR Is War" frat party (which can be seen as a parody of the Nitro Parties of the last few weeks), where Jim Ross, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and members of the local Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett vs. The Brood (Gangrel and Edge) ends in a no-contest. During the match, Christian and Edge switch places the match, and the referee strangely allows for it. Owen gets Hart in the Sharpshooter, then Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Flyboy Rocco) get involved only for all four men in the ring to toss them out. The lights around the ring then start flashing red as the rest of the lights go out, and when they come back on, Debra is the next victim of a Brood bloodbath. Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett retain the WWF Tag Team Championships.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) say they will be competing who is the best of the best tonight. Both men say they will take the other's title and retain their own.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon tells WWF co-owner Shane McMahon to take his frustrations out on X-Pac tonight. Vince asks Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco for a cup of coffee. Shane complains about everything smelling like beer.

"Road Dogg" Jesse James vs. "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn for the WWF Intercontinental and Hardcore Champions ends in a no-contest when Vel Venis, Al Snow and Goldust attack both men only for Road Dogg and Billy Gunn to fight back. When the match begins, it is announced that X-Pac has accepted WWF co-owner Shane McMahon's challenge to a Greenwich Street Fight for later tonight. "Road Dogg" Jesse James retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship, and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn retains the WWF Hardcore Championship.

Animal and Hawk have taken offense to Patterson and Brisco mocking them during their match with WWF co-owner Shane McMahon last week.

Before the next match, The Blue Meanie comes to the ring with a steel chair and calls out "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, saying he is sick and tired of Shamrock sticking his nose in his and Ryan Shamrock's business. He says that the WWF is not big enough for the both of them, and says that he is taking a stand and calling him out. Instead of getting Ken, he gets Ryan instead, and Ryan gets in the ring to receive a spanking. She almost gets it before Ken shows up, but Goldust rushes into the ring and attacks him from behind. Ken gets Goldust in the ankle lock, but The Blue Meanie hits Ken in the back with a steel chair. The Blue Meanie, Goldust and Ryan Shamrock head back to the back together. Ken runs after them.

WAR ZONE

Mankind beats The Rock by disqualification. During the match, Mankind accidentally knocks out referee Tim White. When Mankind gets Mr. Socko ready, "The Big Show" Paul Wight shows up and choke slams Mankind from the apron. At this point, referee Tim White is coming to and see this, and The Rock is disqualified. As per pre-match stipulation, Mankind is the special guest referee for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. "The Big Show" Paul Wight for later tonight. After the match, The Rock gets out and argues with The Big Show as Mankind gets into the ring with a steel chair.
'
"The Big Show" Paul Wight is seen angrily throwing stuff backstage, while "Stone Cold" Steve Austin waits for his match in the locker room.

Kane vs. Goldust ends before it can begin with Goldust pulls out a flamethrower and shoots a fireball into Kane's face. Goldust then takes his robe off only to reveal that Goldust is in fact "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley in disguise (even though it is obvious from "Goldust's" entrance that his arms are bare and he is wearing different facepaint). Triple H attacks Kane as referees and officials try to restore order.

Jim Ross and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams are seen at the "JR is War" frat party. Jim Ross asks for predictions for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. "The Big Show" Paul Wight, then Hardcore Holly shows up and announces that he is screwing up his party in revenge for Jim Ross screwing up his match. Steve Williams immediately brawls with Hardcore Holly, and the camera cuts in and out as both men fight all over the frat house. The cameraman is eventually knocked out, as is the satellite feed.

X-Pac meets Shane McMahon for the Greenwich Street Fight when he is attacked by Pete Gas, Rodney, Willie Green and Billy P, friends of Shane McMahon's from Greenwich, Connecticut. The Corporation (Test, The Big Boss Man, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock) vs. The Ministry of Darkness (The Undertaker, Faarooq, Bradshaw) ends in a no-contest after both teams brawl their way into the crowd and the lights go out.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon shows up. He appreciates the fact that the fans are having so much fun (sarcastically) that he replays the footage of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin spraying him, The Rock and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon with beer. He says he hopes Austin enjoyed that, because he guarantees that Austin will not enjoy what he is about to experience. He says there is no chance in Hell of Austin becoming the WWF Champion at WrestleMania 15, and announces that The Rock will walk both in and out of WrestleMania with the WWF Championship before announcing that The ROck will be special guest commentator for the next match. He then introduces the man who will be the special guest referee for the WWF Championship match at WrestleMania and hopefully teach Austin a lesson tonight, "The Big Show" Paul Wight.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin beats "The Big Show" Paul Wight in a match with Mankind as the special guest referee. During the match, The Big Show confronts Mankind after sending Austin over the barricade. As Big Show continues to stare Mankind down, Austin removes one of the top turnbuckle covers. It ends up being used against him after trying to ram Big Show's head into the exposed turnbuckle bolt fails and Big Show pushes him into it after he goes for an early Stone Cold Stunner. Big Show then confronts Mankind again, and Mankind punches him in the face. Later on in the match, Mankind gets a steel chair and carries it as he tells Big Show to get Austin back into the ring after Big Show dominates Austin outside of the ring for a few minutes. Austin eventually takes advantage of this chair, which is left in the ring, and uses it to weaken Big Show enough to hit him with the Stone Cold Stunner. After the match, Paul Wight attacks Mankind, and The Rock and Austin brawl until The Rock hits Austin with a Rock Bottom to end the show.

RAW

"The Rock" Rocky Maivia shows up to start tonight's show. WWF owner Vince McMahon, Mankind and "The The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock are already in the ring. Vince tells "Stone Cold" Steve Austin that if he is contemplating rushing this ring and attacking him, then he had better think again. The Undertaker and Kane show up and stand at the stage. Vince then mentions the WWF Championship match at Break Down: In Your House, and once against guarantees that Austin will not longer be WWF Championship. He then tells Mankind, The Rock and Shamrock that he will guarantee them the opportunity of a lifetime, while also further stating that Austin and a volunteer of his choice will be squaring off against The Undertaker and Kane tonight. He asks The Rock, Mankind or Shamrock not volunteer to be Austin's partner, and says he is not asking for favors because he never does. He asks the three of them why they are allied against The Undertaker and Kane, and says he would be honored to have one of them as WWF Champion if they just chased a common goal. He again reiterates to the three of them not to team with Austin tonight, and asks the three of them to compete in a Triple Threat Match tonight, where the winner will face the WWF Champion next week. He even offers to be special guest ring announcer for that match, and says that whoever wins that match, surely won't be facing Austin next week.

Before the next match, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn states that "Double J" Jeff Jarrett used to think that the only talent he had was his voice, but tonight, Jarrett is getting the surprise of his life because he is stomping a mudhole in his ass. After this Billy Gunn does the usual New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and Billy Gunn) introduction usually reserved for Road Dog, who is providing the cue cards.

"Bad Ass" Billy Gunn beats "Double J" Jeff Jarrett. During the match, Billy Gunn accidentally runs into the top turnbuckle and accidentally pokes referee Tim White in the eyes. Jarrett tries to take advantage of the situation by hitting Gunn in the head with his guitar, but Tim White is able to clear his vision and take the guitar away from him before he can follow through. This allows Gunn to hit a neckbreaker for the win.

It is announced that Sable and Jacqueline will face each other in a wrestling match, with the winner become the first WWF Women's Champion in three years, as WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaugher has re-comissioned the title.

Michael Cole interviews WWF owner Vince McMahon backstage. (Vince Russo and another member of creative is seen in this interview). When asked who would be crazy enough to team with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and if the match will still happen without a partner, Vince says he cannot think of anyone who would want to team with Austin, then says that Austin will still be facing The Undertaker and Kane tonight, partner or no partner.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up, and says that things are starting to look pretty bad for him as The Undertaker and Kane are making deals with WWF owner Vince McMahon. He says that if The Undertaker wants to tell him it's strictly business and that if he's trying to take the WWF Championship, then it really is personal. He tells Vince he can make his stipulations where Kane and The Undertaker can't pin each other, and tells him it's the biggest bunch of crap he's heard in his life. As for tonight's life, he knows nobody will team up with him due to the fear of angering Vince McMahon, and says that partner or no partner, he's still going to wrestle and that nobody can finish him off. He says that going into Break Down, if he is going to go to Hell against The Undertaker and Kane, then everyone should expect "Austin 666" to show up and not "Austin 3:16."

We see footage of The Undertaker and Kane showing up to the arena. Kane is seen wearing street clothes and a black ski mask as he carries his own bags, and two unknown wrestlers move away from them at the mere sight of the duo.

Before the next match can even begin, The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) party with The Oddities (Luna Vachon, Golga, Kurrgan, Giant Silva) and spray silly string into the air, then the silly string is sprayed into the eyes of Giant Silva and Kurrgan before they rip Golga's Cartman doll to shreds.

Michael Cole interviews The Undertaker and Kane. The Undertaker says "Stone Cold" Steve Austin spews so much venom that is is affecting him own mind. He asks Austin who he thinks he is to warn them about anything, and tells him to take a close look at who is standing in front of them. They may have made a business deal with WWF owner Vince McMahon, and regardless of how Austin feels about it, they have a shot at the WWF Championship and that one of them will take it from Austin, and that there is nothing Austin can do about it. He tells Austin he should be more concerned about making his final arrangements, because if he shows up in the ring by himself, there is going to be a funeral.

Jacqueline beats Sable to become the first WWF Women's Champion in three years after "Marvelous" Marc Mero trips Sable during a vertical suplex, allowing Jacqueline to pin Sable. (Tori is seen in the crowd cheering for Sable before the match begins.) During the match, it is announced that Kurrgan and Giant Silva are having their eyes flushed out in the first aid station from the attack from earlier tonight. Michael Cole tries to interview Jacqueline after the match, but Mero screams that he and Jacqueline are heading to Disney World.

As for Mankind, he knows he has rubbed elbows with him, and says he can't beat him even on his best day. As for "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, he is proof that anybody can be tough. He plans to lay the smackdown on both Mankind and Shamrock tonight, and prove he is The People's Champ.

Dustin Runnels guests on commentary for the next match.

Before the next match, Val Venis says that some men like their cigars dipped in a little brandy, but President Bill Clinton, much like himself, likes his cigars dipped in a little French liquor, like "la whiskey."

Val Venis beats Owen Hart by disqualification after Dustin Runnels gets in the ring and attacks Venis. Venis turns the tables on him, ties him up in the ring rope, and tells him to turn the other cheek as he slaps him. He then tells Dustin he stuck his nose in his business, and he paid the price by having his wife reap the benefits. Since last week, he had a little bit of sympathy in his heart for him, but then he decided to attack him. Venis asks Dustin if he has ever witnessed his wife experience real orgasmic pleasures, then introduces him to his latest video: "Something About Terri." We then see video footage of Terri saying she has changed her mind about reconciling with Dustin as Venis is a much biger man than Dustin. Venis pulls his head out of the covers, saying "the little kitty-cat isn't under the covers," but that she should not worry as he will keep on looking. Venis then tells Dustin that he never did find that kitty-xat, but his "wife's vittles" were so tender. Dustin is distraught yet again.

X-Pac beats D'Lo Brown to become the WWF European Champion!

We see footage from during the break where Michael Cole interviews Mankind, who says that WWF owner Vince McMahon has gotten fired up. As for "The Rock" Rocky Maivia, on his best early-to-mid-afternoon, he could beat him on his worst late evening. As for "The World's Man Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, he doesn't know how to get out of any of his holds, but it takes a good man to beat him, even though it wouldn't take very long.

"The Rock" Rocky Maivia vs. Mankind vs. "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock in a Triple Threat Match to determine a #1 contender for the WWF Championship ends in chaos. During the match, WWF owner Vince McMahon shows up with Kane and The Undertaker, and The Undertaker drags Mankind out of the ring before he and Kane attack him, leaving The Rock and Shamrock as the only two men left in the match. When The Rock throws Shamrock out of the ring, The Undertaker and Kane then attack Shamrock before getting in the ring with The Rock. The numbers game quickly catches up to The Rock, who is quickly choke slammed by both men. As The Undertaker and Kane attack Mankind, "Stone old" Steve Austin sneaks up on Vince from behind and attacks him, and The Undertaker and Kane cannot get to him in time.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 14, 1998

RAW

The show starts with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin coming to the ring, and WWF owner Vince McMahon, The Undertaker and Kane are already there. An irate McMahon screams that he is tired of Austin carrying around his own custom WWF Championship, and after Break Down, he won't have to. Vince reiterates that he has introduced a master plan that would culminate in Austin losing the title, and that he has ordered a triple threat for the title between Austin, Kane and The Undertaker. However, Vince adds that there is a business arrangement, as he has granted The Undertaker and Kane a title shot, but will do something for him in exchange. Vince says he will never forgive or forget Austin, and while The Undertaker and Kane still have no love lost between each other, if they scratch his back, he scratches theirs, and by "scratching his back," he means "protect his back." Vince tells Austin that if he lays a hand on him, The Undertaker and Kane will annihilate him, even though that will happen to Austin at Break Down, anyway. Vince says he is able to guarantee Austin losing the title because of a new stipulation in the Triple Threat Match just a moment ago: The Undertaker is prohibited from defeating Kane in the match, and Kane cannot do the same to The Undertaker. Vince then spells it out: the match is a glorified 2-on-1 handicap match for the WWF Championship. Vince then tells Austin that since he does not want to do business and always wants to do it his way, Austin will remember one thing when he is defeated: "Stone Cold screwed Stone Cold." As he says this statement, Vince jabs his finger into Austin's chest repeatedly. As expected, Austin punches Vince, and The Undertaker and Kane gang up on Austin as promised. Austin is choke slammed by both The Undertaker and Kane, and Vince mocks Austin before leaving the ring. Before The Undertaker, Kane and Austin leave, The Undertaker tells Austin that it's nothing personal and just business. Vince then tells Austin that tonight, he will be defending the WWF Championship against "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin is seen backstage, and he is not in a good mood.

"Double J" Jeff Jarrett beats "Road Dog" Jesse James. During the match, Southern Justice (Mark Canterbury and Dennis Knight) drag Road Dog out of the ring, which starts a brawl between them and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn and X-Pac. As referee Tim White is keeping Billy Gunn back at ringside, Jeff Jarrett is able to hit Road Dog in the throat with the neck of his guitar. Road Dog has to be helped to the back after the match by Billy Gunn and X-Pac.

"Road Dog" Jesse James is helped into an ambulance backstage after the attack on him by "Double J" Jeff Jarrett. Billy Gunn snaps on WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter when Slaughter asks if Road Dog is okay.

"The Rock" Rocky Maivia has hatched up a game plan for Kane with the rest of The Nation (Owen Hart, D'Lo Brown, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry), but as The Rock breaks it down for them, disagreement can be sensed within The Nation.

"The Rock" Rocky Maivia beats Kane. During the match, the referee is accidentally knocked down by The Rock's foot during a a Tombstone Piledriver attempt by Kane. After The Rock hits The People's Elbow, The Undertaker shows up and goes after The Rock. As Kane watches, Mankind - who has not been seen since SummerSlam - appears with a sledgehammer and smashes the hammer into Kane's back before running back to the back. The Undertaker chases Mankind to the back, and the referee is able to come to and give The Rock the pinfall. The Undertaker checks on Kane after the match, then grabs the microphone and tells Mankind that this has gone way too long and that it ends once and for tonight. He challenges Mankind to a match, and tells him to bring his sledgehammer.

Michael Cole interviews Mankind, who now has a visible bruise on his face and bandages on his left hand. Mankind says he used his left hand to block the sledgehammer, and says he is lucky that he did not look all that good to begin with. He accepts The Undertaker's challenge, for he has been working on scientific moves and is looking forward toa fair fight. He then smashes a steel drum with his sledgehammer.

Dustin Runnels is in the ring, where he welcomes everyone to Hell as the WWF is stained with vulgar language, aggression and sex. Runnels then tells Val Venis that he told him He is coming, and when He gets here, he will repent. Val Venis shows up, asks if he will repent because he works hard or because he plays hard. He then introduces him to his latest video entitled "The Preacher's Wife." We then see a short clip where Venis explains that he got back at Dustin for attacking him last on Sunday Night Heat by sleeping with Terri Runnels, aka Marlena. Dustin Runnels is aghast and breaks down, and Val Venis tells Dustin Runnels that getting on his knees must run int he family.

We see a vignette for Steven Regal: a man's man. Here, we see him cut a tree with an ax.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Owen Hart. During the match, Chyna hits "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry with a right hand after X-Pac tries to stop Henry from further confronting her, distracting Owen. After the match, Mark Henry tells X-Pac that if he wants to play with him, they can play tonight, and makes it a 2-on-1 handicap where Chyna will fight along X-Pac since he "looks like he is about a buck-five." Henry tells X-Pac and Chyna that he will prevail tonight.

Mankind is seen pushing a dumpster backstage while placing weapons inside of it.

WAR ZONE

Mankind brings a sledgehammer and ladder with him to the ring before the next match, and the dumpster that he pushed around backstage is already in front of the ring. When The Undertaker shows up, he brings a sledgehammer of his own as Kane accompanies him. Referee Tim White has to take Mankind's sledgehammer away from him as he tries to strike The Undertaker with it before the match can begin, but before The Undertaker can hit Mankind with his, Mankind gets the Mandible Claw in, starting the match.

The violent match between Mankind and The Undertaker ends in an no-contest. During the match, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia comes out of the dumpster and stops The Undertaker from hitting Mankind with a sledgehammer after a Tombstone Piledriver on the chair. After tossing Mankind into the crowd - and presumably out of harm's way - The Undertaker and Kane trail The Rock to the back, and the match ends.

Edge and Gangrel wrestle to a double count-out. Gangrel then tells a downed edge "My blood flows through your veins" and that "eternity is forever."

"The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry beats Chyna and X-Pac. X-Pac is asked to start the match at the recommendation of referee Jack Doan. Shortly after the start of the match, D'Lo Brown shows up to watch the match from ringside, and "Double J" Jeff Jarrett and Southern Justice (Mark Canterbury and Dennis Knight) watch the match from the aisle. Later on, D'Lo Brown grabs at Chyna's foot as she tries to get into the match, and though X-Pac stops D'Lo with a drop kick, Mark Henry is able to recover and hit Chyna with a power slam as she comes down from the middle rope.

Sable beats Jacqueline in an Evening Gown Match. (After the match, the camera focuses on a woman watching the match from the front row. This woman would appear later in the year and into the following year as Tori.) After the match, Sable takes off her evening gown for the fans.

Michael Cole interviews "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, who says it is about time that he gets a shot at the WWF Championship, as the WWF keeps putting opponents in front of him and he keeps defeating them. He tells "Stone Cold" Steve Austin that he is looking at the calm before the storm.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin for the WWF Championship ends when The Undertaker and Kane show up and attack both men. "The Rock" Rocky Maivia and Mankind rush in and fight The Undertaker and Kane, and WWF owner Vince McMahon shows up on the stage, confused as to what is going on. Austin gets back in the ring with a steel chair and hits The Undertaker and Kane in the back with it before chasing Vince to the back as the show ends.
