Memphis Thing - Memphis Wrestling recap for April 20, 2024

"The GunShow" Brett Michaels vs. Reverend Ash Taylor ends with Brother Bruce and "Righteous" Ryan Rembrandt attacking Brett Michaels shortly after it begins. Brett Michaels soon overpowers them, hitting Brother Bruce with a spinebuster before hitting Ryan Rembrandt with a delayed vertical suplex. When Brett gets his hands on Reverend Ash Taylor, Marrow shows up. Brett lets go of Ash Taylor and confronts Marrow when he gets in the ring, and that allows Ash Taylor to hit Brett from behind with the collection plate so that Marrow can hit Brett with a reverse DDT.

Backstage, The Nyxx Network (Sir Matt and Lord Gaston) make fun of Big John Dalton for having such a "big, fat losing streak" that he could not break it even if he tried. Assistant Matchmaker Michael shows up and asks Big John if he wants to try, and puts him in a match against Lord Gaston. When Sir Matt insists it will be one-on-one, Michael shows up back and bans Sir Matt from ringside.

Dustin Starr interviews The Hollywood Clique ("Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock, Van Viciouss, Secret Service) at the announce desk. Jimmy Blaylock announces that he has gone over Matchmaker and Assistant Matchmaker King Cobra's and Michael's heads and has filed the formal complaint, then calls King Cobra and Michael out. King Cobra and Michael show up, and calls them both the biggest mistakes in Memphis Wrestling before accusing them of putting so many barrier around Van Viciouss that he is unable to do anything without them getting in the way. He also accuses them of keeping Van Viciouss out of the Cobra Cup Tournament and letting the fans sign a petition to remove Blaylock himself from Memphis Wrestling, and also accuses some of the fans of signing the petition twenty times. Blaylock also mentions Van Viciouss being put in a match against "All The Way" Ray Collins with his contract with Memphis Wrestling on the line, and says that he sees no other manager going through that. He then says that he has gone over King Cobra's and Michael's heads and want them terminated from Memphis Wrestling. Dustin Starr explains to King Cobra and Michael that Blaylock directly contacted the Championship Committee and complained that they were unfit to make matches in Memphis Wrestling, even going so far as to claim that he could make better matches than them. He then tells King Cobra and Michael that they are under investigation by the Championship Committee. Van Viciouss proclaims that something was finally done right and that King Cobra and Michael need to be investigated, and Dustin Starr apologizes to King Cobra and Michael, saying that he had nothing to do with the decision and that Jimmy Blaylock made the call. King Cobra tells Blaylock he can investigate him all he wants, as all he does is make the matches the way that the fans want them, but Blaylock immediately accuses King Cobra of bias against The Hollywood Clique. Michael says that Blaylock does nothing but run his mouth and says that maybe Van Viciouss just does not have it, and asks them if they ever thought about that. That gives King Cobra the idea to make one more match as Matchmaker: Van Viciouss vs. Michael.

Jake Painter beats Sycho Simon by disqualification after throwing a metal folding chair at him. After the match, Simon keeps grabbing chairs andhitting Painter with them as referees and security to restore order.

Dustin Starr interviews "The Chosen One" Zay Washington at the announce desk. Zay says he usually likes to get in the ring and handle his business, then says that while SuperBout III was a great show for a lot of people, it was not a great show for him. Zay says he was robbed of his opportunity by somebody he thought he trusted and called a friend and even travelled the roads with, then calls out "All Heart" Blake Christian, saying that he knows he is watching and that he and everybody knows that he is one of the best wrestlers in the world and he is challenging him for the Game Changer Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship. All of a sudden, "The Problem Child" Aaron Roberts and Justin Case show up, and Roberts says that Zay cannot hold a friendship and that he wants to challenge for a title when he could not even hold the Internet Championship. Zay reminds Roberts that he was the one to disgrace the Internet title by spray painting in front of the announce desk, and now he suddenly wants to act like the face of the championship. When Zay calls Roberts "an egg suckin' hypocrite," Roberts sucker punches him. This starts a brawl between the two men that ends with Roberts planting him with an Uranage. Suddenly, Tim Bosby shows up and confronts Aaron Roberts, then gets in the ring. Justin Case holds Aaron Roberts back before the two of them leave the ring.

We hear from K-Toomer, who says that he has seen the recent footage of him getting beaten down about a thousand times over by now, and ever since it happened, people have been asking what his answer is. K-Toomer tells The Circuz that he will get to do something that he has not done in a long time, and simply says "It's on sight."

Before the next match, Reverend Ash Taylor asks who would donate money to a "worthless baseball team" when they could donate to his collection plate. Brother Bruce agrees, but the fans do not. He also says that Brother Bruce will only have this match if Big John Dalton agrees to join his flock, no questions asked. When Big John Dalton makes it to the ring, Dalton says he is not worried about that, because he will kick Ash Taylor's butt tonight.

Big John Dalton and Waldo beat The Righteous Path (Reverend Ash Taylor and Brother Bruce). During the match, Reverend Ash Taylor gets on the apron and distracts Big John Dalton, and when Dalton grabs him, Brother Bruce tries to attack Dalton only for Dalton to duck so Bruce hits Taylor instead. Big John Dalton then goes up to Dustin Starr and asks to make this a tag team match, which Dustin Starr makes official, then picks Waldo - a guy with long hair who is dressed like Waldo from "Where's Waldo?" - out of the crowd for his tag team partner. (Had Big John Dalton lost, he would have had to join The Righteous Path.)

Before the next match, Matt Williams asks why they are in Brighton, Tennessee when Arkansas have a better football team, then says that his daughters are better at softball than the school's girl's softball team. Tim Bosby shows up and states that he takes offense to what Matt Williams just said, then brings out Coach Wallace, who has also taken offense to what he has just said.

Tim Bosby retains the Memphis Wrestling Internet Championship against Matt Williams. During the match, Bosby takes down both Williams and Storybook Prince Gaston, who distracts the referee so that Williams can hit Bosby with a low blow. Coach Wallace gets in the ring and hits Storybook Prince Gaston with his own storybook, allowing Bosby to get the win and retain the title. After the match, Coach Wallace gives Gaston the Stunner and pins him for the three-count.

Before the next match, Simon says he has a special gift for "The GunShow" Brett Michaels: Will the Thrill. All of a sudden, a young man with Posse facepaint shows up and teams with Simon. Brett Michaels says he did not come alone either and that he has kinfolk in Brighton, Tennessee, then brings out a young man named Noah from the baseball team shows up in Brett's corner.

"The GunShow" Brett Michaels retains the Memphis Wrestling Heritage Championship against Simon. Near the end of the match, Simon and Brett Michaels both hit the referee as they both try to hit each other, and Noah taks out Will the Thrill in the middle of the ring before Brett Michaels hits the GunShow Lariat on Simon to retain. He then says that he is stepping up and that this is his time. K-Toomer then tells Brett to be on his A-game, as he wants to beat Brett at his best.

King Cobra brings out the Cobra Cup before the next match.

Before the next match, Reverend Ash Taylor shows up and says that even the most righteous stray from the path, and when that happens, someone has to take charge. He then says he has to take care of business, and enters the ring. He tells the referee that he is not needed, then proposes to "Big Trouble" Ben Bishop a position on the righteous path as his second and the person that he relies on. He hands Bishop a pamphlet, which Bishop rips up. Ash Taylor hits Bishop in the back with his book, and it has no effect. Ben Bishop goes to town on the man, then hits him with the Meat Pop Drop and pins him to win the Cobra Cup Tournament and win the Cobra Cup. After the match, Ben Bishop is awarded the Cobra Cup. He thanks King Cobra, then says that there is a new legend in Memphis and that it is him.

Dustin Starr interviews The Hollywood Clique at the announce desk. "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock says Mackenzie Morgan is making false allegations when she says that "Dirty" Diana Taylor attacked her, and now wants to jump on him. He says that she should be glad that he has never hit a woman, as he would have knocked her out. He then says that "Dirty" Diana Taylor will take care of Mackenzie Morgan, and promises that Diana Taylor will win and that "that stinkin' hussy" has had it.

Mackenzie Morgan beats "Dirty" Diana Taylor to become #1 contender for the Memphis Wrestling Women's Championship after "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock inadvertently hits Diana in the eye with his cane.

Backstage, Matt Williams talks with Storybook Prince Gaston. He is embarrassed that they lost to Mackenzie Morgan's team, and Gaston says that their opponents were three times larger than the women in Memphis. As he says that Ellsworth wants Mackenzie, Nyxx and Cassandra Golden taken care, Gaston gets a call from James Ellsworth. He tells Ellsworth that they have a plan to take care of them and that they think Ellsworth will love it.

We hear from Uncle Mikey, who says that if Brad Skimahorn wants to involve more family members in their feud, then so will he. Mike says that he is no longer asking for forgiveness, and that he will see Brad next week.

"The Problem Child" Aaron Roberts beats Zay Washington in a match where Big Dan is handcuffed to Justin Case. Shortly after the beginning, Aaron Roberts hits Big Dan with a chop, and that allows Justin Case to find the handcuff key and cuff Big Dan to the ring post. Dan manages to free himself and cuff Justin Case to the bottom rope. After the match, Dustin Starr interviews Aaron Roberts and Justin Case. Justin tells Dustin that he can be next, and Roberts says he is not ashamed because he is standing on top, and that he is coming for the Memphis Heritage Championship. Justin Case says they can line them up, and Roberts can knock them down.
