Slam Dunk - AEW Rampage recap for February 17, 2023

Don Callis guests on commentary for the next match.

The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson) retain the AEW World Trios Championships against Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) and AR Fox in a match that also saw a basketball be used as a weapon. After the match, the lights go out, and Brody King and Malakai Black are briefly seen on the ramp before the lights come back on.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn). Colten says The Acclaimed don't need to do any work to face them again, and Austin says that they are the top of the tag team division when it comes to the other two teams.

Mark Henry interviews Orange Cassidy when Wheeler Yuta shows up and says that leaving Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent Beretta, Orange Cassidy) for Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli, "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley) is the best thing he ever did after Chuck treated him like a clown and that Orange Cassidy never taught him anything, then challenges Orange for the All-Atlantic Championship. Orange says he was there not to teach him, but to be his best friend, and that it is obvious they are not friends anymore. Orange accepts his challenge.

"Absolute" Ricky Starks beats Daniel Garcia after Action Andretti shows up and stops Sammy Guevara from getting involved in the match. After the match, Sammy Guevara demands a match with Action Andretti and threatens to beat Andretti's ass.

We hear from Evil Uno, who says that he has a history of violence of his own and that next week, he will bring respect back to the name of The Dark Order after he goes toe-to-toe with Jon Moxley.

Jade Cargill quickly retains the TBS Championship against Vertvixen and goes 53-0.

Backstage, Mark Henry interviews Dustin Rhodes, Swerve Strickland and Parker Boudreaux. Swerve says the Rhodes family is not as innocent as they luck and that Dustin has shown him disrespect, and that men go to war and die over disrespect before asking if Dustin is willing to do the same. He also asks where Trench is. Dustin says nobody gives a damn about Trench, then says Swerve has to deal with him after mentioning his family and that he will drag him to hell. He says that he will drag him through a dark place before he sees the light. He says Hell is coming and that he is coming with it.

"The Natural" Dustin Rhodes beats Swerve Strickland by disqualification after Parker Boudreaux pulls Dustin out of the ring and throws him into the ring steps. After the match, Boudreaux and Swerve gang up on Dustin, and Swerve hits Dustin in the head and tries to cut him with Boudreaux's chain. Security shows up, but Boudreaux overpowers them. Boudreaux then pulls a cinder block out from underneath the ring, and Swerve is about to go to the top rope when Keith Lee shows up from behind Swerve and Boudreaux and attacks them both. Boudreaux even takes a bullet for Swerve at one point. Keith Lee then helps Dustin up to end the show.
