Generation NXT - NXT recap for February 7, 2023

We see footage from earlier today of Bayley entering the arena.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams head to the ring to start tonight's show. Trick Williams says that Vengeance Day will go down as the day that Carmelo Hayes turns Apollo Crews from a man with visions to Stevie Wonder, then Carmelo says it was nothing but net and that he got two straight falls. He says Apollo had the right vision with the wrong person, then says he is everything that he says he is and that he is "Him," and that he has beaten everyone he said he would beat except for one person. Before he can say who that person is, JD McDonagh shows up and tells Carmelo that while he is part of an entitled generation and the coolest man on the roster, he is not meant to hold his jock strap and he is not ready to be NXT Champion or the face of the brand. Carmelo says he must have left a survivor, and McDonagh says that he hurts people and tells Trick to call the hospital ahead of time. Carmelo says they can settle things in the ring, and McDonagh replies "Game...on."

Backstage, Fallon Henley confronts Kiana James for cheating to help them win the NXT Women's Tag Team Championships, then threatens to tell Brooks Jensen about Zack. Suddenly, the two of them get a surprise party for their title win.

We see footage of Grayson Waller confronting "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels during the Vengeance Day post-show media call and being escorted out of the room by Mike Bloom. As a result of this, Grayson Waller has been suspended for one week.

Zoey Stark beats Sol Ruca. After the match, Zoey Stark continues to attack Sol Ruca, but Sol Ruca gets the last word with the Sol Snatcher.

Back at the surprise party for Kiana James and Fallon Henley, Fallon tries to hint about Zack, then Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) shows up looking a mess wanting a tag title shot, then blames Duke Hudson, Andre Chase and Thea Hail for their loss. Andre Chase, still sore from not winning the NXT Tag Team titles, threatens to "kick the shit" out of Pretty Deadly.

Dabba-Kato beats Dante Chen. After the match, Kelly Kincaid interviews Dabba-Kato, who says that Apollo Crews knows what he did and that he is going to drop his ass.

In footage from yesterday, Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre show up as Diamond Mine (Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Ivy Nile) and Tatum Paxley are in the trainer's room, then accuses Tatum Paxley of attacking Nikkita Lyons, Tatum says she was doing film study with Diamond Mine, but Isla says an innocent person would have just said "no."

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Roxanne Perez, who says she is relieved to retain the NXT Women's Championship at Vengeance Day and is ready for what's next. Kayden Carter and Katana Chance show up complaining about how they were cheated out of the NXT Women's Tag Team titles, then says nobody is talking about this and that Roxanne would not understand because she has no friends. Roxanne says she can make one phone call and prove that she has friends.

Isla Dawn beats Tatum Paxley. After the match, Ivy Nile gets in the ring as Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre surround a downed Tatum Paxley.

We see a video package for Carmelo Hayes vs. JD McDonagh, which is happening next.

An unknown person walks out of a silver Mercedes-Benz outside of the arena.

Carmelo Hayes beats a distracted JD McDonagh with a roll-up after Ilja Dragunov makes his first appearance in some months and takes out Trick Williams. After the match, Dragunov attacks McDonagh further, but McDonagh rolls out of the ring and climbs over the barricade to avoid Torpedo Moscow only for Dragunov to chase right after him.

Backstage, Thea Hail confronts Tiffany Stratton about her TikTok about Chase University, then remembers her essay on John Cena until Tiffany says nobody wants to go to Chase University. Thea Hail mentions Professor Shelby briefly, then says Chase University is all-inclusive and welcoming of anybody. She confronts Tiffany for her self-absorption and tells her to "suck it" before Ava Raine grabs her from behind and drags her off.

Backstage at Fallon Henley and Kiana James' surprise party, Fallon says she has something to say first, but Brooks Jensen says he has something to say: he has a Valentine's Day date with Kiana James. Kiana shows up, then Fallon cannot bear to mention Zack and thanks Jensen and Josh Briggs for the party, then shakes her head at Kiana.

Lyra Valkyria beats Valentina Feroz after Elektra Lopez shows up and passes her brass knuckles to Feroz only for Lyra to lay her out as soon as she turns around.

We see social media diary footage of Wes Lee's trip to Charlotte, North Carolina, the drive to the arena, the trip to the hotel room with his wife Erica, Wes Lee's title retention against Dijak at Vengeance Day, and the backstage aftermath.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Wes Lee when Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo show up asking to be "duly compensated" for their assistance. Wes says there will be an open challenge, and he hopes that the two of them answer it.

We hear from Tyler Bate, who calls out Grayson Waller for being a sore loser after Vengeance Day and disrespecting Shawn Michaels, then says that if Grayson Waller wants to disrespect someone, he can try disrespecting him.

Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo beats Odyssey Jones.

We hear from Indus Sher (Jinder Mahal, Veer Mahaan, Sanga). Jinder Mahal says Sanga and Veer have earned the respect that they have desired. Veer says nobody respected them until they destroyed The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed), and Sanga says The Creed Brothers lost before the bell even rang. Jinder says Indus Sher expect to be respected in America like they are in India, then Veer says they have moved on to other goals. Sanga then says there is no other tag team that can beat Indus Sher. Jinder says phase one is complete, and phase two ends with them draped in gold.

Backstage, Duke Hudson and Andre Chase do not know where Thea Hail is before heading to the ring for the next match.

Backstage, Roxanne Perez says her tag team partner next week is Meiko Satomura.

Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) beat Andre Chase and Duke Hudson after Thea Hail runs out to the ring paranoid and traumatized from her backstage kidnapping. After the match, Gallus is seen on the balcony staring down Pretty Deadly.

Backstage, Drew Gulak talks with Hank Walker. As Hank Walker talks about his new wrestling gear and Wes Lee, Charlie Dempsey shows up and says Gulak is not ready for Wes Lee. Gulak says Walker is ready for him, then Dempsey says he hopes Walker does not take shortcuts like him.

It's time for Ding Dong, Hello! Bayley is wearing a cast on her left arm. Tonight's guests are Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne). Jacy says Gigi screwed her out of the NXT Women's Championship, but Gigi says Roxanne beat her, not Jacy, and that Jacy screwed her. The two of them accuse each other of not being a team player, then proceed to insult each other. When Bayley asks the two of them what they would do if they both went solo, Gigi says she has not thought about it, while Jacy says she wants to go straight to the top. Bayley says that would be easier with a ride-or-die at their side who knows them and has the same goals. Gigi realizes she has alienated herself from the rest of the locker room, and Jacy mentions Damage CTRL's (Bayley, Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky) success on the main roster. Gigi says that she needs someone to have her back, and Jacy gest it and says she goes straight for the jugular when she gets angry. Jacy then says that no matter what happens, Gigi will always be her sister, and Gigi says that she feels the same. Jacy says they can either go their separate ways and see what happens, or have one more run. Jacy and Gigi then entertain facing Damage CTRL for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships, but Bayley reels it back and has Gigi and Jacy hug it out. Gigi and Jacy hug it out, then Jacy raises Gigi's hand. All of a sudden, Jacy superkicks Gigi and says it was always about her, then throws her into the door before kicking her head through it.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
