Raw Deal - Raw recap for March 16, 2020

Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton and Jerry "The King" Lawler introduces the viewers to the show, which will take place in the WWE Performance Center. As the viewers are introduced to what will happen tonight, Edge suddenly appears. Edge says that it has been a strange few months for him and his wife Beth Phoenix, and we see a video package of what has transpired between Edge and Randy Orton. Edge states that when "Cowboy" Bob Orton introduced him to Randy, he knew that their paths would intertwine, and he was right. He knew that Mick Foley wanted to pass the torch to them, and while they did, Edge learned grit while Orton did not. Edge says that this grit was what caused him to come back after nine years out of action at the men's Royal Rumble, and while Orton may be one of the best, he had everything handed to him while he worked for everything and got it. He says that he was raised by a single mother who broke her back to make sure his dreams came back, and they did, and at Royal Rumble, he threw Orton out of the ring. He says that this is all about jealously, not love, and it tears Orton apart. Edge then reveals that two weeks ago, Beth Phoenix showed up to make a medical update to retire on his behalf, but Orton refused to let her finish and pulled him out of a hole he dug for him. He then tells Orton that it will be the two of them in a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania if Orton has the guts, and that this is a redemption story that he will write in which Orton won't stand back up.

In footage from earlier today, Becky Lynch makes her way to the Performance Center in a semi-truck full of customm Becky Lynch decals and honks the horn before making her way to the building.

The 2020 men's Royal Rumble match is replayed.

It is announced that WrestleMania 36 will not take place in Tampa Bay, Florida as originally scheduled and will instead take place in the WWE Performance Center on April 5th on pay-per-view and WWE Network.

Jerry "The King" Lawler moderates the contract signing for "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania. The Undertaker immediately gets in the ring shirtless and ready to fight, and flips the table that is in the ring. The show then cuts to a commercial break.

After the commercial break, it is mentioned that there was no contracts present on the table as The Undertaker cleared the ring. The Undertaker then waits in the ring, and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles' music hits, but Styles does not show up. Styles' music plays again briefly, but once again, he does not show up. Styles then shows up on the video screen with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson backstage, carrying a contract in his hands. Styles commends The Undertaker for carrying WWE on his back for so long, but says that The Undertaker interjects himself into a WWE whose fans want him removed from it. He once again says that this is Michelle McCool's fault, and calls The Undertaker a shell of his former self as he says he has no sympathy for him after getting in The O.C.'s (Styles, Gallows, Anderson) business time and time again. Styles says The Undertaker cannot run or hide, and says that he will gladly pay for The Undertaker's assisted living costs after WrestleMania, as he will do everyone a favor when he makes him rest in peace. After some arguing back and forth, Styles has Gallows and Anderson take the contract to The Undertaker, who is still waiting in the ring. Gallows and Anderson then head to the ring and place the contract at the edge of the ring. The lights then go out, and when they come back on, The Undertaker is behind Gallows and Anderson. When they turn around, The Undertaker beats them up. Styles is livid as he watches from backstage, and The Undertaker soon signs the contract before placing it in Anderson's mouth.

We look back on the September 28, 1998 episode of Raw, when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin lept off a Zamboni and attacked Vince McMahon.

Asuka guests on commentary for the next match.

Rey Mysterio beats Andrade.

Becky Lynch shows up. She says she knows that "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler is watching and that her existence drives her crazy, and says that as long as she is champion, Baszler's world of bullying everyone and running things is a lie. Becky says she is the prey who killed its predator, and tells Baszler to think about what will happen after she beats her, for she will prove that Baszler's life is a lie and it will hit Baszler like a truck.

We look back on the October 5, 1998 episode of Raw, when "Stone Cold" Steve Austin dressed up as a doctor and attacked Vince McMahon in a hospital room.

Backstage, Charly Caruso interviews Kevin Owens, who tells Seth Rollins that he accepts his challenge, and that he has given thought as to where and when to do it. He states that their match will happen at the Performance Center, and says that Rollins has always had the advantage. Owens then says that that he has home field advantage in the Performance Center, stating that Rollins has always said he would never make it in WWE. Owens says that he has a lot of friends and memories in the walls of the Performance Center, and he will add one more memory when he beats him in the building where he had to prove he was WWE-ready at WrestleMania.

Next week: Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton are live!

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up. Austin declares that from here on out, the 16th day of March is a national holiday, then asks the empty arena to give him a "hell yeah" if they want to know what 3:16 Day is all about. He gets two "hell yeah's" from Byron Saxton. As Austin delcares that 3:16 Day is "a day where you boss works for you" and "a day where you can have beer instead of your morning coffee" among other things, Saxton rates each explanation with scorecards. Afterwards, Austin asks Saxton to get in the ring and celebrate with him. Both men toast with a Austin's own Broken Skull Ranch IPA, then Saxton gets a Stunner. Becky Lynch then shows up with a cooler and steps on Saxton on the way into the ring, then both of them drink a few Broken Skull Ranch IPAs and Austin gives Saxton another Stunner to end the show.
