Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for March 13, 2020

The show starts with Triple H welcoming the viewers to the WWE Performance Center, and states that the Superstars of today are coming back to perform for the fans. It is then revealed that the Center will be empty for the whole night.

Bayley and Sasha Banks show up to start tonight's show. Bayley says she and Sasha are the face of SmackDown, and Sasha says that it is fitting they have returned to the Performance Center for it is their house. They want to know where Paige is, but Michael Cole says that Paige is having travel issues. Suddenly, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross show up, and Alexa and Nikki are not happy with The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) are still "hiding" on Raw. Alexa and Nikki then challenge Bayley and Sasha to a match, which Bayley accepts. Triple H guests on commentary for the next match (but ends up staying the whole show).

Bayley and Sasha Banks beat Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross with a Banks Statement to Nikki Cross after Alexa is attacked at ringside by Asuka.

Michael Cole interviews Roman Reigns in the ring. Roman Reigns says that being in an empty arena is weird, but as long as he can live to do what he does, that is important. As for the critics who feel that he does not deserve to main event WrestleMania, Roman says he should be able to capitalize on all the hard work that he has put in, especially after he came back as fast as he could to do what he loves. He says that he is coming for what is his, and that he deserves it after all he has done to come back. Roman admits that while he respects Goldberg, Goldberg is a part-time performer and he does not have time for that while he works full-time. He says that he has "eaten from the WWE table" his whole life and has grown up and been groomed in the business, and that Goldberg has no idea what he is in for. He says that he will beat Goldberg and take back the Universal Championship.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Sami Zayn, who is introduced by Cesaro. Sami Zayn finds out that he has been bumped from the interview, but that does not bother Sami, as he, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura have celebrating to do. We then find out that Jeff Hardy is the real Superstar for this interview. Jeff Hardy says that he is glad to be back after a year, and after some soul searching, he says that he still has some work to do. Suddenly, he is interrupted by Baron Corbin, who tries to put him in his place only to find out he is in a match with Jeff. After Jeff leaves, Elias shows up and tries to play a song for him, but Corbin angrily walks away.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan meets with Drew Gulak and compliments Gulak on giving him a hard time at Elimination Chamber, then says he is still winning to learn before asking Gulak if he is still willing to teach. Suddenly, Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura show up, and Sami mocks Daniel Bryan for being a shell of his former self and asking for tips from "a nobody" like Gulak while he is now a champion. Cesaro gets in Daniel's face and tells Daniel that if he has a problem with Sami, he'll have to deal with him. Daniel says everyone knows where the ring is, then Drew Gulak scoffs at Sami for calling him a nobody.

The SmackDown Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber Match from Elimination Chamber is replayed.

We hear from The Miz and John Morrison. Miz says that they are still winning championships despite recently getting back together, then he and Morrison demands that anybody step up if they don't like anything about them. Morrison says they are here in WWE for themselves and the gold, not the fans.

It is announced that former NFL player Rob Gronkowski may be joining WWE as a Superstar. Mojo Rawley shows up at the announce table to confirm that he is, and that next week, Gronkowski will appear, then he and Triple H try to get Michael Cole to "get hype."

Daniel Bryan beats Cesaro with an inside cradle. After the match, Shinsuke Nakamura attacks Daniel bryan, but Drew Gulak shows up and fights Cesaro, putting him in a Dragon Sleeper until Nakamura and Sami stomp the hold out. Daniel Bryan saves Gulak after hitting Nakamura with a tope suicida.

Next week: The contract signing for Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship!

Elias guests on commentary for the next match.

Jeff Hardy beats King Corbin in his first match in about a year after Elias distracts King Corbin with his guitar.

Triple H thanks the fans for watching despite not being in attendance, then John Cena shows up. Michael Cole interviews Cena in the ring. Cena says that he misses the fans and hopes to see them again soon. As for Bray Wyatt, Cena says being blamed for something - in this case, the creation of The Fiend - is nothing new to him. Cena says that Bray got lazy and gave up, then blamed everything on him, and says that while he has suffered numerous major setbacks, he has blamed only himself and refused to give up. Cena then says that WWE needs to invest in its future, and that Bray Wyatt is not its future because he has been given fifth and sixth chances. He says he plans to take Wyatt out of the equation, and that it will be ugly. As Cena says that he will get rid of the most overhyped Superstar in existence, Bray Wyatt shows up out of the empty crowd and says Cena has him all wrong, saying Cena is the sick one. He says that Cena only cares about Cena, not the future, and that he does not care what he has to do to get the spotlight. Wyatt says that Cena took something from him at WrestleMania 30, and says the voices from that night eventually led to the Firefly Fun House. He says that Cena broke him and that The Fiend put him back together, and that WrestleMania will be a slaughter and that Cena just does not know it yet. The Performance Center lights go out, and the show ends.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
