205:Alive - 205 Live recap for January 2, 2018

TJP beats Akira Tozawa in his first match in three months.

In the locker room, Cedric Alexander meets with Goldust. He says they have a lot to accomplish. He may be over 205 lbs., and he could be a more fit and trim Goldust with a few nips and tucks, but when a friend needs help, he sees the whole thing through. He knows Cedric is a rising star, and he is here to help him on his quest for gold. Goldust compared their tandem to Thelma and Louise, Laurel and Hardy, and Turner and Hooch. Cedric asks if he knows Hooch was the dog. Goldust says Cedric is his "dawg." Cedric says this is the start of a beautiful friendship.

Before the next match, "Gentleman" Jack Gallagher said we all learned that Hideo Itami is here to maim and disfigure, as The Brian Kendrick learned first-hand last week. After footage of what happened is played, Gallagher mentions Kendrick's injuries and says he is out of work for two months. He has watched the footage over and over again, and we see the footage again in slow motion. When he watches the footage, he does not feel empathy, but inspiration to dissect Hideo Itami and make him suffer. Before the bell can ring after Hideo Itami shows up, Gallagher swings the umbrella. Hideo Itami sees it coming, and hits Gallagher with a series of strikes. Gallagher stops Hideo with the umbrella, then a lead pipe is seen in the ring. Gallagher swings the pipe into Hideo's back, then refuses to listen to the referee. Referees show up to restore order to a match that is over before it can begin, then check on Hideo Itami as Gallagher leaves.

Dasha Fuentes interviews Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari. Daivari says they were not ready for Goldust last night, and Gulak says they suffered a major injustice. Daivari states that their challenge was for Cruiserweights only, but Gulak says they are ready for any challenge. Before Drew Gulak can dediate his and Daivari's victory to Enzo Amore, Goldust sneaks up on them. Gulak breathes in his face, then he and Daivari leave. Goldust replies by saying Gulak's breath stinks.

Cedric Alexander and Goldust beat The 'Zo Train (Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari).
