Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for March 9, 2017

Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards fight each other in the crowd at the start of the show. Security and referees have to try desperately to separate both men.

Jeremy Borash becomes the third man on commentary thanks to the new management. He then both implies and acknowledges that Josh Mathews isn't popular with the audience, calling Mathews an arrogant prick and saying that he has a lot of bombs to drop tonight thanks to the new management. Cody Rhodes shows up with Brandi Rhodes, says the show can start now that he's here and asks the crowd if they want to see him in a match with Moose. Security tells Cody to leave as The DCC ("The Cowboy" James Storm, Eddie Kingston, Bram) make their way to the ring. It is then announced before the break that The DCC's opponents have never been seen on Impact Wrestling before. After the break, we find out that those opponents are Reno Scam ( Adam Thornstowe and Luster the Legend), the tag team champions from Future Shock Wrestling.

Reno Scum (Adam Thornstowe and Luster the Legend) get an upset victory against The DCC (Kingston and Bram). "The Cowboy" James Storm confronts Kingston and Bram after the match, and the three of them patch things up quickly.

Jeff Hardy gets scratched at by a monkey as he prepares to face a kangaroo housing the spirit of "Smokin'" Joe Frazier.

McKenzie Mitchell finds out from Sienna that Maria Kanellis-Bennett that because of Allie's actions two weeks ago, Maria has suffered a nervous breakdown. Sienna tells Allie that she hasn't gotten rid of her, and that her happiness will not last long.

Braxton Sutter beats Marshe Rockett, DJ Z and Caleb Konley. Just before the end, Allie hits a top rope cross body to the outside of the ring on Rockett. After the match, a deranged, disheveled and distraught Laurel Van Ness shows up and screams at both Sutter and Allie while still in her wedding dress from two weeks ago.

Sienna beats Rachael Ellering.

Bruce Prichard shows up, having not been on Impact in a few years. He says that this Impact is not the same Impact is not the same one that he knows. He says that the old Impact was one of hope, and where people could go to be great. Prichard then states that TNA is dead, and that Impact called him to come back to make it great again, as he has been in the business for quite some time. He then introduces the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Lashley, whom he calls "walking armageddon." Lashley says he has done what he said he would do, and has walked through numerous opponents and represented the current president of the United States, too. Prichard tells Lashley that everyone will eventually have to decree him as the absolute best, as there will soon be nobody in the back to challenge him. Suddenly, music hits and out comes Alberto El Patron. Alberto tells Lashley to shut up, and that Lashley has yet to beat him. Suddenly, Ethan Carter III shows up and tells Alberto he has to earn his title shot, and challenges Lashley for the World title. Lashley tells EC3 he's beaten him week after week and that he's done and doesn't deserve a shot. Lashley dares Alberto to step up, and Alberto wants to fight Lashley right now. Bruce Prichard then makes it official: this match is happening tonight.

McKenzie Mitchell interviews Eddie Edwards. It doesn't take long for Angelina Love to show up, however, and tells him that he isn't a real man while Davey Richards is. She then slaps him, and Eddie asks Angelina why she hits harder than Davey even though she called Davey a real man, then walks off.

Cody shows up, looking for Moose again. Jeremy Borash tells Cody that Moose is in Japan, but Cody calls JB a "stooge." He then tosses the GFW NEX*GEN Championship into the ring and waits for Moose for a few seconds after being confronted by security, then leaves.

"Dirty" Dutch Mantel shows up. He almost introduces himself as Zeb Colter, then says that was his name in an alternate universe and introduces himself as Dutch Mantell. He says he earned the nickname "Dirty" the hard way by going all over the world and facing everyone he could. He says that he was called up much like Bruce Prichard to help make Impact great. He was here eight years ago, when AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Kurt Angle, Sting and a litany of popular names were here. As time passed, all of them - and Dutch - left due to a lack of leadership, vision and respect. He says the fans, however, have never left. Dutch then says he's back and he's here to listen to the fans, as the fans are the ones that make Impact great.

Jeff Hardy faces the kangaroo which houses the spirit of "Smokin'" Joe Frazier. He and "Broken" Matt Hardy then head to their next destination in their expedition of gold. As they do, however, Decay (Rosemary, Crazzy Steve, Abyss) shows up at the arena and pick up the TNA World Tag Team Championships from off the ground, thanking them - and Vanguard-1 - for the gold.

Jeremy Borash announces that on July 2nd, 2017, Slammiversary XV will be live on pay-per-view!

Alberto El Patron beats Lashley to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship - refereed to on-air as the Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship - after using the title as a weapon. During the match, Ethan Carter III shows up to watch the match from the stage. After the match, Lashley almost beats up one of the two referees, and Alberto El Patron declares himself the new World Heavyweight Championship.

After Impact went off the air, Lashley is in disbelief, and Bruce Prichard tells Alberto El Patron that he did not win the title against Lashley cleanly and that he can win the World Championship that way. Alberto El Patron doesn't care, saying he's the champion regardless.

Here's tonight's show in 64 seconds!
