Raw Deal - Raw recap for October 17, 2016

Backstage during the pre-show, Lita says she will sit down with Charlotte and Sasha Banks to see where their heads are at prior to Hell In A Cell. Also, Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley are slated to answer Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan's Survivor Series challenge. Also, Goldberg is appearing on Raw for the first time since 2004, and his answer to Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar's challenge is heavily awaited as well.

During the pre-show, The Shining Stars (Primo and Epico) try to sell timeshares to Mark Henry...and watches. R-Truth shows up feeling cheated, and Goldust shows up to call them "greasy conmen." Titus O'Neil shows up and says The Shining Stars are "respectable businessmen." Titus O'Neil then challenges Goldust, R-Truth and Mark Henry to a six-man tag match, and if Titus and the Shining Stats win, they have to buy their watches. R-Truth shakes Titus' hand inadvertently, and the match is on.

During the pre-show, Curtis Axel talks to Bo Dallas in the locker room. Axel tells him he feels bad about last week, and that he has gotten him another match against Neville. A desperate Bo thanks Axel.

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho start tonight's show. Owens says General Manager Mick Foley has a vendetta against him due to his putting him in a Hell In A Cell against Rollins, as it will short his career. Jericho agrees, saying Hell In A Cell is the most dangerous structure in WWE. Jericho says he would have beaten Seth Rollins last week if it weren't for referee Rod Zapata, and puts him on The List. After Owens says he will retire Seth Rollins, Rollins shows up, tells Jericho to put his scarf on the list and calls him "Sparkle Crotch." When Jericho threatens to put Rollins on the list, this leads to fighting words between Rollins and Jericho where "Sparkle Crotch" is name dropped again as well as "Sparkle Ass." Owens says either he or Jericho must stay strong, and Rollins takes advantage of this by calling Jericho weak. Rollins challenges Jericho to a rematch, and Jericho asks Owens to leave the ring so he can prove that he can handle Rollins on his own. Owens leaves, and the rematch begins.

Despite interference from Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins beats Chris Jericho.

We look back on the WCW debut of Bill Goldberg vs. Hugh Morrus on the September 22, 1997 episode of WCW Monday Nitro.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper is in the crowd tonight.

Earlier today, Lita interviews Charlotte. During the interview, Charlotte says she doesn't need to prepare for Hell In A Cell as she was born ready to do this, and that she is a two-time Women's Champion for a reason, and that she doesn't care if Sasha Banks is hurt. Charlotte goes on to say that she doesn't need the fans and that she is genetically superior, and the only reason Sasha Banks is wrestling her in Hell In A Cell is to get the fans on her side. She promises to take the Raw women's title back at Hell In A Cell.

Mark Henry and The Golden Truth (Goldust and R-Truth) beat Titus O'Neil and The Shining Stars (Primo and Epico).

Chris Jericho meets up with Kevin Owens backstage and confronts him for his actions earlier tonight. Jericho almost calls Owens a stupid idiot, which starts bickering between Jericho and Owens. Stephanie McMahon puts a stop to the arguing, saying that Rollins is in their heads as they are doing what they promised they would not do and that she needs "[her] two best generals" on the same page.

Before the next match, Cesaro gives Sheamus a hard time on Facebook Life. Big E then says Sheamus is a mile high if he thinks he can beat him, Kofi Kingston or Xavier Woods. The New Day (Kofi, Big E, Woods) say they beat Cesaro last week and that they will beat Sheamus this week. After they say that you can't say Sheamus' name without saying "Shame," they cater to the Denver, Colorado crowd by saying they have "legally been your WWE Tag Team Champions" for 420 days.

Big E beats Sheamus thanks to the distraction by Cesaro. During the match, Cesaro has fun on Facebook Live. Sheamus confronts Cesaro, telling him to fell "the best Brogue Kick ever," which turns into Big E rolling up Sheamus for the win.

Dana Brooke beats Bayley.

Michael Cole interviews Paul Heyman live via satellite. Heyman says the challenge was rhetorical, and that Goldberg won't turn it down. Heyman says he was the one who challenged him and not Lesnar because Lesnar doesn't think about Goldberg anymore. He tells Goldberg to say "no" or else he will "piss Brock Lesnar off," and that Goldberg thinks he can beat Lesnar because the fans chant for him. Heyman also says the fans chanting for Goldberg pisses off Lesnar, too. Heyman then tells Goldberg that if he says yes, he will be ultimately destroyed by Brock Lesnar.

Byron Saxton interviews "The Mile High Trio," who say that Braun Strowman will be winded by the high altitude air of Denver and that nobody can defeat them.

Braun Strowman beats The Mile High Trio. Braun Strowman says that he's going to take matters into his own hands backstage and get his own competition when Sami Zayn shows up and gets in the ring. After they stare down, Strowman pushes Sami out of the ring and then leaves.

Sami Zayn says he picked a fight with Braun Strowman because nobody else will.

Rusev and Lana are in the ring. Rusev says he will crush Roman Reigns at Hell In A Cell before speaking Bulgarian. Lana says that Rusev is the greatest United States champ of all time and a phenomenal family man. Rusev verbally craps on the Anoa'i family, treating them like savages, then introduces the world to his own family, the Rusevs, while bertaing the crowd for booing his family. This goes on until Roman Reigns interrupts everything, saying he has a bigger family in the Roman Empire and that Rusev looks more like the family dog. When Rusev threatens to call his family, Roman dares him to do it, as it'll just be the two of them at Hell In A Cell and that Rusev will be calling 911 when he's done with him. Lana slaps Roman before Rusev hits him with a superkick, then Rusev continues to attack Roman outside of the ring before applying the Accolade on top of some steel steps.

We look back on the March 31, 2003, when Goldberg debuted in WWE and bent The Rock in half with a Spear.

Big Cass beats Karl Anderson in record time.

Tony Nese and Drew Gulak tell Brain Kendrick takes care of his end of the bargain, they'll take care of theirs. TJ Perkins shows up and Kendrick says that there are no friends, only allies, hence why Kendrick has challenged Perkins to a six-man tag match. TJ Perkins tells Kendrick it's over at Hell In A Cell, and Kendrick says he's on his last life and that he will do anything to survive. Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann show up, and the six-man tag match is complete.

Earlier today, Lita interviewed Sasha Banks, During the interview, Sasha Banks says that she and Charlotte are making history and that she respects her, but she's going to prove why she is the best. Sasha says that Hell In A Cell will be her night, not Charlotte's. She then says she can't believe that this is happening and that the Women's Revolution has gone so far. She then says that fear is not an option if she wants to retain the Raw Women's Championship.

We look back on Unforgiven 2003, when Goldberg beat Triple H to win the World Heavyweight Championship in WWE.

Brian Kendrick, Tony Nese and Drew Gulak beat TJ Perkins, Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander after Brain Kendrick makes Rich Swann tap to the Captain's Hook and Tony Nese keeps TJ Perkins from saving the match.

Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon meet up backstage. Foley says that Raw can still beat SmackDown in the ratings and that they can still top them when it comes to Hell In A Cell, and makes the main event for next week Chris Jericho vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens.

Next week on Raw: The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus!

Goldberg finally appears on Raw for the first time since 2004. Goldberg thanks the fans for never forgetting about him, and says he never thought he would be in a WWE ring again as he thanks everyone for a humble return. His wife and son are seeing him live for the first time ever in the front row. Goldberg says he's missed a lot in the last 12 years, especially being a superhero for the kids as "there aren't enough of us." He mentions the WWE 2K17 promotion, and says that he created a little drama backstage that probably should be kept alone...or it would have been, had Brock Lesnar challenged him through "his fat little stooge" Paul Heyman. Goldberg has decided there's one more ass-kicking, Spear and Jackhammer left in him, and that not only is Brock Lesnar next, he's last. Goldberg celebrates with his son, and it is then announced that Brock Lesnar will respond to this turn of events next week on Raw.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
