Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for October 11, 2016

Lita interviews Alexa Bliss backstage on the pre-show. She says that if Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan want to make the SmackDown Women's title match a Triple Threat Match, then bring it on. Either way, she plans on taking the title from Becky Lynch.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) are interviewed via Skype on the pre-show. They say that the gameplan to take the SmackDown tag titles is what it's always been: bust people in the mouth until they make their way back into title contention. They say that they got caught slipping against Heath Slater and Rhyno at No Mercy, and that it will not happen again. They say that the WWE Universe booing them for helping Roman Reigns and turning on them is what caused them to stop pandering to the fans and do their own thing. They don't care who they attack next, as they just want the tag titles.

Dolph Ziggler shows up to start the show. He says the weeks leading up to No Mercy have been worth it, as he gave himself only one way out. He had no idea if he would ever be in a WWE ring again, but here he is now. Yet, for the first time in 12 years he doubted himself and felt he made a mistake. Ziggler then says that the WWE is where he belongs, and says "We did it." The Miz and Maryse show up dressed in all black to mourn the loss of the Intercontinental Championship, and Miz calls it "the death of the Intercontinental Championship," saying he brought prestige to the title. He says that this is not the end of the story, as Ziggler with the title is Act 2 and that the hero always gets the gold and the girl. He already has the girl, now he wants the gold. Ziggler gives Miz a hard time for crying at the end of the match at No Mercy, and The Miz says that face is him seeing everything he had getting ripped away from him. This leads to "You were crying!" chants form the fans, as The Miz says he did everything to keep the title and that he will do everything to get it back. He says he is not done with Ziggler...and neither are Mikey and Kenny of The Spirit Squad, whom Ziggler will be facing in a handicap match right now.

Dolph Ziggler beats The Spirit Squad (Mikey and Kenny). The Miz attacks Ziggler right after the match until Heath Slater and Rhyno make the save.

It is announced that Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship on November 8th will take place in Glasgow, Scotland.

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan announce Survivor Series for November 20th. They announces three 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Match where Raw and SmackDown go head to head: one for the men, one for the women and one for the tag team divisions.

Earlier today, Carmella attacked Nikki Bella after an interview where she plugs Total Bellas.

Naomi beats Carmella after Nikki Bella shows up with a host of officials ready to hold her back, which distracts Carmella and allows Naomi to get the roll-up for the win. After the match, Nikki gets her hands on Carmella, but not for long, as Carmella escapes and runs away through the crowd.

Alexa Bliss says she can beat Naomi any day of the week in an interview. Daniel Bryan shows up, and decides to put that statement to the test but putting her in a match against Naomi next week.

WWE and NBC Universo celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and honor Eva Longoria.

Jimmy Uso beats Chad Gable after Jey Uso assists Jimmy with the schoolboy pin.

The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley) are in the locker room...and so are The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor).

AJ Styles shows up for his No Mercy victory speech. He mocks everyone for cheering for either John Cena or Dean Ambrose, and says that he beat both men on Sunday night. He then announces that he will give someone an opportunity to face him in a match. Dean Ambrose's music plays, and when Dean shows up, AJ Styles says he wasn't talking about him. Ambrose tells Styles he isn't done with him yet, but Styles brings out his real opponent: James Ellsworth. Styles tells Ambrose to leave, but Ambrose says he's going to get a front row seat for this. Styles insists Ambrose leave so that Ellsworth isn't distracted. Suddenly, Daniel Bryan shows up, and makes the match official...but makes Ambrose the special guest referee.

James Ellsworth beats AJ Styles after special guest referee Dean Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on AJ Styles twice.

Randy Orton meets Kane backstage. He says that he is done with Bray Wyatt's world, and asks Kane to live in his, which has pain, chaos, misery and voices begging him to stop that he doesn't listen to. Kane says he's in, and tells Orton that he has issues.

AJ Styles screams at Daniel Bryan, and Shane McMahon tells Styles he brought it on himself.

James Ellsworth and Nikki Bella will be on tonight's Talking Smack.

Before the next match, Luke Harper says that the world has put him to sleep, but now he is wide awake and he has seen the light. After saying that the light is brighter than ever, Bray Wyatt dares Randy Orton to bring his monster, as he has brought his.

Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper beat Randy Orton and Kane after the lights go out and Luke Harper appears in Kane's place on the apron, distracting Orton and allowing Wyatt to hit Sister Abigail.

On Talking Smack, Nikki Bella says she is happy to have won at No Mercy, but can't understand why Carmella can't seem to leave her alone. She says that Carmella keeps running as she's not ready for her. She also says that SmackDown Live would dominate in the Survivor Series 5-on-5 Women's match.

On Talking Smack, Daniel Bryan announces that Jack Swagger and Baron Corbin will square off on next week's SmackDown Live.

On Talking Smack, James Ellsworth calls tonight's win one of the greatest moments of his life. He admits he was nervous facing AJ Styles. He has been in the business for the last 14 years up and down the East Coast and also in the Baltimore, Maryland area. He never thought he would be facing the WWE World Champion in a million years. Daniel Bryan then announces that Ellsworth will take on AJ Styles again next week...and this time the WWE World Championship is on the line.

Talking Smack ends with Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper making a surprise appearance. Bray says that his "brother" Luke Harper is back, and that they are now whole again. He declares that nobody in SmackDown Live is safe. Harper says that they plan to make an impact, make people talk about them and be taken seriously.

Where was Curt Hawkins, who was supposed to debut tonight? Only Curt Hawkins knows...
