The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for September 14, 2016

We hear from TJ Perkins, Zack Sabre Jr., Gran Metalik and Kota Ibushi.

Gran Metalik beats Zack Sabre Jr. to continue to the finals of The Cruiserweight Classic. William Regal presents Gran Metalik with a finalist medal, then Gran Metalik is interviewed. Gran Metalik thanks the fans.



Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano - now known as #DIY - say that they are 100% and ready to go for their match tonight against Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander. They call NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II and The Cruiserweight Classic their moments, and they have The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson) on their mind. They know The Revival are scared and are coming for the NXT Tag Team Championships.

TJ Perkins beats Kota Ibushi with a knee bar-turned-STF to continue to the finals of The Cruiserweight Classic and face Gran Metalik. Both men show respect after the match. William Regal presents TJ Perkins with a finalist medal, then Perkins is interviewed. He says he has taken this tournament one match at a time, and now he just has to win one more.



Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander say they just need to be on the same page to beat #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa).

Sasha Banks, Kalisto, Rich Swann, Jack Gallagher and Bayley are seen in the crowd.

We hear from William Regal regarding The Cruiserweight Classic.



Triple H shows up before the finals begin to announce that the finals are for the new WWE Cruiserweight Championship.



TJ Perkins beats Gran Metalik by submission with a knee bar to win the WWE Cruiserweight Classic and become the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Champion! Both men show respect after the match. In a post-match interview, Perkins talks about having a housekey from the last place he was evicted from as a reminder of a place he wanted to go back to, but has since thrown away because it reminds him of a place he won't have to go back to. He says all he had to go on was inspiration, and now he is in a position to inspire. He says that the trophy is bigger than him, as it is 32 people he calls his peers and heroes.
