The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for September 14, 2016

We hear from TJ Perkins, Zack Sabre Jr., Gran Metalik and Kota Ibushi.

Gran Metalik beats Zack Sabre Jr. to continue to the finals of The Cruiserweight Classic. William Regal presents Gran Metalik with a finalist medal, then Gran Metalik is interviewed. Gran Metalik thanks the fans.



Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano - now known as #DIY - say that they are 100% and ready to go for their match tonight against Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander. They call NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II and The Cruiserweight Classic their moments, and they have The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson) on their mind. They know The Revival are scared and are coming for the NXT Tag Team Championships.

TJ Perkins beats Kota Ibushi with a knee bar-turned-STF to continue to the finals of The Cruiserweight Classic and face Gran Metalik. Both men show respect after the match. William Regal presents TJ Perkins with a finalist medal, then Perkins is interviewed. He says he has taken this tournament one match at a time, and now he just has to win one more.



Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander say they just need to be on the same page to beat #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa).

Sasha Banks, Kalisto, Rich Swann, Jack Gallagher and Bayley are seen in the crowd.

We hear from William Regal regarding The Cruiserweight Classic.



Triple H shows up before the finals begin to announce that the finals are for the new WWE Cruiserweight Championship.



TJ Perkins beats Gran Metalik by submission with a knee bar to win the WWE Cruiserweight Classic and become the inaugural WWE Cruiserweight Champion! Both men show respect after the match. In a post-match interview, Perkins talks about having a housekey from the last place he was evicted from as a reminder of a place he wanted to go back to, but has since thrown away because it reminds him of a place he won't have to go back to. He says all he had to go on was inspiration, and now he is in a position to inspire. He says that the trophy is bigger than him, as it is 32 people he calls his peers and heroes.

The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for September 7, 2016

Zack Sabre Jr. says he has no problems with performing in front of a worldwide audience, and says he has the most suitable style to beat everyone in the tournament. Noam Dar hopes to make an impression in the tournament even though he has come here to win.

Zack Sabre Jr. beats Noam Dar by submission to go on to the semi-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic. Both men show respect after the match.



TJ Perkins considers himself the best cruiserweight in the tournament, and that to have made it this far is motivating and validating to his career. Rich Swann hopes to entertain the fans further, and says the pressure is real having made it to the quarter-finals and that he hopes to show the fans the best of Rich Swann.

The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for August 31, 2016

We hear from Gran Metalik, who says that he is making a good time out of his progress in The Cruiserweight Classic and calls it a pleasure to represent Mexico in the tournament. We then hear from Akira Tozawa, who calls being in WWE a dream come true, and hopes to win the tournament so he can take WWE by storm.

Gran Metalik beats Akira Tozawa after reversing a deadlift German Suplex into a Metalik Driver to continue to the semi-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic. Both men show respect after the match.



We hear from The Brian Kendrick, who soldiers on to his last shot at glory. We also hear from Kota Ibushi, who feels he has brought something fresh to the first two rounds of the tournament and wants to win this tournament as he loves wrestling more than anyone else.

Kota Ibushi beats The Brian Kendrick to continue to the semi-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic despite Kendrick repeatedly targeting Ibushi's neck. Both men show respect after the match.



Next week: Zack Sabre Jr. vs Noam Dar! Rich Swann vs. TJ Perkins!

At the end of the show, the fans thanks The Brian Kendrick, and Kendrick thanks the fans back. Daniel Bryan enters the ring and hugs Kendrick.

The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for August 24, 2016

This week: Drew Gulak vs. Zack Sabre Jr.! Lince Dorado vs. Rich Swann! TJ Perkins vs Johnny Gargano!

Lince Dorado expected to make it this far, and calls The Cruiserweight Classic the biggest stage he's ever been on. He hopes his versatility will win him the tournament. Rich Swann talks about the passing of his parents and how wrestling saved his life.

Rich Swann beats Lince Dorado to continue to the quarter-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic.



We look back at Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II.

Charlie Caruso interviews Johnny Gargano. He knows TJ Perkins is good, and he plans to pour his heart out in the ring and continue to the quarter-finals.

We hear from the undeterrable Drew Gulak and the hard-working Zack Sabre Jr.

Zack Sabre Jr. beats Drew Gulak to continue to the quarter-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic after reversing a Dragon Sleeper into a combination pin. Gulak shakes Sabre's hand begrudgingly after the match.



We hear from the flashy but focused TJ Perkins, and Johnny Gargano hopes to win The Cruiserweight Classic and become the top cruiserweight in the world.

The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for August 17, 2016

This week: The Brian Kendrick vs. Tony Nese! Noam Dar vs. Hoho Lun! Jack Gallagher vs. Akira Tozawa!

We hear from English gentleman wrestler Jack Gallagher and Japanese superstar Akira Tozawa.

Akira Tozawa beats Jack Gallagher to continue on to the quarter-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic where he will face Gran Metalik.



Hoho Lun talks about how he got started with judo (thinking it was professional wrestling) and how he wants to make his family proud. Noam Dar wants to make his way to the top, starting with The Cruiserweight Classic.

Noam Dar beats Hoho Lun by submission with a knee bar to continue on to the quarter-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic.



Tony Nese says he's the guy who's got it all. The Brian Kendrick calls The Cruiserweight Classic his last make-or-break moment.

The Brian Kendrick beats Tony Nese with the Bully Choke to continue on to the quarter-finals of The Cruiserweight Classic where he will face Kota Ibushi.

The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for August 10, 2016

Tonight! Kota Ibushi vs Cedric Alexander! Tajiri vs Gran Metalik!

We hear from both Gran Metalik - who wants to represent all of Mexico - and Tajiri - who wants to achieve something ambitious by winning this tournament so he has no regrets.

Gran Metalik beats Tajiri to continue to the quarterfinals of The Cruiserweight Classic. Tajiri raises Gran Metalik's hand after the match.



We hear from Kota Ibushi - who is focused on making the crowd happy - and Cedric Alexander - who still can't believe that he's here.

Kota Ibushi beats Cedric Alexander to continue to the quarterfinals of The Cruiserweight Classic.



Next week: Akira Tozawa vs. Jack Gallagher! Noam Dar vs. Hoho Lun! The Brain Kendrick vs. Tony Nese!

The show ends with the crowd giving Cedric Alexander a standing ovation, thanking him as well as chanting "Please sign Cedric!" Triple H makes a surprise appearance, much to the crowd's surprise, and escorts Alexander to the back, causing the crowd to chant "Yes!"

This week: Rich Swann vs. Jason Lee! Gurv Sihra vs. Noam Dar! Jack Gallagher vs. Fabian Aichner! Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa!

We take a look at the super-confident NXT competitor Rich Swann, and a look at Jason Lee, who combines wrestling with a little bit of kung fu.

We take a look at WWE fan and the other half of the Bollywood Boys, Gurv Sihra, as well as Scottish wrestling sensation - by way of Isreal - Noam Dar.

Noam Dar beats Gurv Sihra by submission with a knee bar to continue to the second round of The Cruiserweight Classic.



We take a look at Italian strongman Fabian Aichner and English gentleman Jack Gallagher.

Jack Gallagher beats Fabian Aichner to continue to the second round of The Cruiserweight Classic.



We get a look at both Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. They started in the indies as singles wrestlers, then they came to NXT and became a tag team, and now they're here.

We see fighting words from both Johnny Gargano - who calls Tommaso Ciampa "just another guy," and Tommaso Ciampa - who says tonight isn't about "Johnny Wrestling" and that he will be the man to eliminate Gargano from The Cruiserweight Classic.

Johnny Gargano beats Tommaso Ciampa in a fierce 10-minute match to continue to the second round of The Cruiserweight Classic.

The Cruiserweight Classic - Recap for July 27, 2016

This week: Tyson Dux takes on Zack Sabre Jr., Drew Gulak fights Harv Sihra, Tony Nese squares off against Anthony Bennett, Raul Mendoza faces The Brian Kendrick.

We hear about Tyson Dux's road to recovery from injury and how he considers The Cruiserweight Classic a big opportunity. We also hear from Zack Sabre, Jr., who happens to have a strong technical foundation.

Zack Sabre Jr. beats Tyson Dux by submission to continue to the second round of The Cruiserweight Classic.



We hear from technical cruiserweight Drew Gulak, and tournament underdog Harv Sihra.

Drew Gulak beats Harv Sihra with a Dragon Sleeper-body scissors combination to continue to the second round of The Cruiserweight Classic.



We hear from Tony Nese, who says that he can do it all and that it's his time to shine. We also hear from Anthony Bennett, who may be the smallest guy out there but is willing to prove that "this kid don't play."

Raul Mendoza is here to represent the Latin community in the WWE, while The Brian Kendrick views The Brain Kendrick as a second chance to break the glass ceiling in WWE.
