Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for February 5, 2019

Charlotte Flair shows up to start tonight's show. She says that the only thing more dangerous than ignorance is arrogance, and last night, Becky Lynch's arrogance got the best of her when she refused medical attention, beat up Stephanie McMahon and got suspension. She hopes that Becky Lynch is thinking more clearly and is doing what she can to get better, then says she knows somebody who is 100% healthy and would love to face "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania before pointing at the WrestleMania sign. Suddenly, Becky Lynch shows up in the stands, and Charlotte demands that security sees that she has a ticket before saying it is one thing to steal from her father "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and another to steal Roman Reigns' entrance. Security shows up as Becky Lynch gets in the ring, and referees and officials show up in the ring afterwards as Becky tells Charlotte she is out of her mind if she thinks she will steal her WrestleMania spot. WWE COO Triple H shows up and tells Becky she is suspended and to go see the doctor, then tells Charlotte to get out of the ring. Triple H tells her to go home again and to see the doctor and get cleared if she wants to get un-suspended. Becky tells Triple H she does not trust him, but Triple H tells her it is what it is. Becky then asks Triple H how Stephanie McMahon is as Triple H leaves, and asks if Stephanie is medically cleared after she punched her in the face last night. Triple H then says that he has bought into what Becky has been doing, and says that Becky is not "The Man;" instead, she is a self-destructer afraid of failure who is looking to be a martyr as well as looking for a way out. He says that getting punched in the face by Nia Jax was her way out of Survivor Series, and that "medical prison" is just a convenient excuse to claw back up to the opportunity she wanted only to back out again. Triple H says Becky is scared of what the doctor will tell her and that she probably isn't even injured at all, and scared that she will go to WrestleMania, face Ronda Rousey and get exposed as "the fraud that [she is]." Triple H then says that Becky Lynch will learn that she fears Ronda Rousey, then Becky slaps him in the face. Both Triple H and Becky stare down, then Becky smiles and walks away, being escorted out in the process.

Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura beat Gallows & Anderson (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) after Lana gets Nakamura up at ringside to tag Rusev out of the match and save him from a Magic Killer.

We hear from Mustafa Ali, who says nobody expects him to survive Randy Orton or the Elimination Chamber. He then asks what would happen if he were to survive.

We hear from Paige, who shows us a trailer from her biographical film Fighting With My Family.

Next week: McMiz TV with special guests The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso)!

We hear from The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso), who talk about their Elimination Chamber opponents, Shane McMahon and The Miz, who says that their opponents are trying to be like them but do not have the experience or the struggles. Next week, McMiz TV will be locked down.

Randy Orton beats Mustafa Ali after yanking Ali out of the 054 to hit an RKO. After the match, Samoa Joe runs into the ring and puts Randy Orton in the Coaquina Clutch before booting Mustafa Ali out of the ring. Afterwards, "The New" Daniel Bryan shows up, and when Samoa Joe approaches, Rowan also appears. Joe gets out of the way before letting Bryan and Rowan pass through.

We hear from Samoa Joe, who says that Randy Orton learned that for every action, there is an equal and destructive reaction, and at Elimination Chamber, it will be about destruction and justification for his means when he wins the WWE Championship.

"The New" Daniel Bryan - who is introduced as "The Favorite Son of Washington" - and Rowan are in the ring. Daniel says that he finally gets to talk to people who understand what he is trying to do, and says the people of the state of Washington are intelligent people who realize that change is needed. Unfortunately, as WWE Champion, he speaks to a global audience, and the people he speaks to does not understand that their behaviors destroy their minds, fatten their bodies and kill their planet. He says that people fill their emptiness with deep-fried animal carcasses to get over hump after hump, and that the people of the state of Washington know he is facing an uphill battle, hence why he has created a symbol to rally behind. He calls the old WWE Championship a symbol of both excellence and excess, and says his custom championship belt is not only a symbol of excellence, but a symbol of change. He then says people are threatened by that change, and Rowan says that great thinkers like Daniel and himself are considered dangerous due to their ideas. He admits that while their ideas have good intentions, people fear them and especially Daniel, as he holds the WWE Championship. As long as Daniel is WWE Champion, people will try to silence him. Daniel says people tried to silence him because he is not their champion; instead, he serves a greater power than corporate money, power and greed, as he is the planet's champion. However, the "suits" do not like it and have never wanted him to be champion, and have therefore put him in an Elimination Chamber match with five other men with the WWE Championship on the line. Daniel says he has been there before and knows what it takes, and it only serves to reinforce how dangerous and painful the situation is. He then shows a video package about the Elimination Chamber Match. He then says that "The Phenomeal" AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Mustafa Ali, Samoa Joe and Jeff Hardy will be the men who will be locked in the Elimination Chamber, and while all of them want to take the title backwards, he cannot have it. Daniel says that the people, the ignorant masses, and most importantly, the planet, all need him as WWE Champion.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Jeff Hardy, who says that it makes him sick how the WWE Championship's legacy has been disrespected by "The New" Daniel Bryan. He says you cannot change the ways of a madman, and says he will make him shut up in the ring. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles shows up and says he agrees, but asks Jeff if he is really the guy who should be champion, but Jeff asks the same of Styles when Styles could not beat Daniel Bryan at Royal Rumble. He then tells Styles that when he gets finished with Daniel Bryan tonight, he'll finish this in the Elimination Chamber.

Before the next match, Kayla Braxton interviews Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. Sonya says that Carmella and Naomi are inexperienced and over their heads, and that The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) won't laugh their way to victory. She says none of them have fire and desire. Mandy says that unlike everyone else, she has experience in the Elimination Chamber, that everyone else needs to step aside, and that she isn't worried about Naomi because Naomi has yet to pin her.

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville beat the team of Carmella and Naomi and The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) to qualify for the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

We hear from Andrade, who says that it is all about the legend of Rey Mysterio tonight. Zelina Vega says that Rey Mysterio is best left as a folk tale from the past, and that Andrade laid out a legend not because he wanted to, but because he needed to. She says that Rey can try to fight him, but he cannot fight fate, and that Andrade's legend begins with Rey Mysterio's end.

We see a video package of Asuka.

Jeff Hardy beats "The New" Daniel Bryan by disqualification after Rowan pulls Hardy out of the ring following the Swanton Bomb. After the match, Daniel Bryan puts Hardy in the Labelle Lock, then Joe shows up, attacks Rowan and puts Daniel Bryan in the Coaquina Clutch. Randy Orton then runs in and brawls with Samoa Joe until Mustafa Ali takes both of them down. Mustafa soon gets caught by Rowan and choke slammed into an announce table. After that, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles shows up. Styles and Orton go at it, and Styles takes out Orton before hitting Joe with a running knee on the apron and a Phenomenal Forearm to Jeff Hardy. Styles then stares down with Daniel Bryan from opposite ends of the stage. Kayla Braxton then interviews Daniel Bryan backstage. Daniel says he is the best and the greatest, and is WWE Champion because of it. He says that Rowan sides with him because they are intellectual peers, and says that he will be WWE Champion forever because the planet needs it.
