Generation NXT - WWE NXT recap for February 6, 2019

Johnny Gargano shows up to start tonight's show. He says it feels great to stand in the ring as NXT North American Champion, as he and the fans have been on a long, winding journey for years and they have all been validated when he struck championship gold. Gargano says he is proud to say that Johnny Wrestling is back, then Tommaso Ciampa shows up. Ciampa congratulates Johnny on winning the North American title, saying she proved to the world that he followed his lead and became a champion because of it. He says that he and Gargano now both own the world and the dream they talked about up and down the road, and the two of them standing side-by-side with the gold proved that this is their moment. Gargano says there is no "our moment," and that he only stood with him was to show him that he will never need him. Suddenly, Velveteen Dream shows up. He says that tonight is not about Ciampa or Gargano; instead, it is about the man who stole NXT TakeOver: Phoenix by simply showing up: him. He says that while Ciampa and Gargano put the finishing touches on their fairy tale moments, he won the Worlds Collide tournament. Instead of choosing the NXT Championship, however, he chooses the North American title. Gargano reminds Velveteen Dream that while he was sitting in the crowd, he was in the ring putting on another match of the year before taking part in the men's Royal Rumble match. He says he is on top of the world right now and feeling a little dangerous, and if Velveteen Dream wants his title, he wins. Dream says the real question he wants an answer to is whether he faces "Johnny Champion" or "Johnny Jackass."

Jaxson Ryker quickly beats Mansoor. After the match, Jaxson Ryker punishes Mansoor with another sit-out power bomb, and Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake have to get him off Mansoor.

As Cathy Kelley waits for an interview with Ricochet backstage, The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) shows up, and Adam Cole says he is championship material. Ricochet overhears, and Cole says that the North American title has his name all over it. Ricochet proposes that they have a match to see who is more deserving of the North American Championship. Cole says he looks forward to it. Ricochet says he doesn't care who he has to go through, for when the opportunity comes, he will be coming back for the North American title.

In two weeks: Velveteen Dream vs. Johnny Gargano for the NXT North American Championship!

Drew Gulak beats Eric Bugenhagen with a Gu-Lock combined with a body scissors. After the match, Gulak says he represents wrestles around the world 205 Live and proves he is the best in the world, then shows up in NXT only to get "Ben Stiller from Dodgeball." He says he is the best submission specialist in the WWE, and issues an open challenge to anyone who wants to get stretched. That challenge is answered by Matt Riddle. Riddle says everyone in NXT sets the bar day in and day out, and tells Gulak to either leave both the ring and NXT or get tapped out of it. Gulak tells Riddle to take the flip-flops off and make his day, and Riddle tells him he chose wisely.

Matt Riddle beats Drew Gulak with the Bromission. After the match, Drew Gulak offers his hand, and Matt Riddle shakes it.

Bianca Belair, Io Shirai and Kairi Sane beat Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler.
