Honor Roll - Ring of Honor recap for January 17, 2015

"The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels guests on commentary for the next match.

Frankie Kazarian beats Christopher Daniels.

Matt Taven thanks Jay Briscoe - and Nigel McGuinness - for making the match official, and says that he's taking the ROH World Championship.

Donovan Dijak beats Jake Dirden to continue on to the second round of the 2015 Top Prospect Tournament after Dirden tries to go for the Asiatic Spike. During the match, The Decade (Jimmy Jacobs, B.J. Whitmer, Adam Page) do some scouting.

A shadowy figure says "We've been watching you. We are coming and we are bringing change with us."

Kevin Kelly interviews Alberto El Patron - formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in the WWE - in the ring. He mentions his legal troubles with WWE, which have now been resolved, and says that Ring of Honor is where the best wrestlers on the planet are. He says "wrestlers" because "that's what we are" and "I am not a fucking sports entertainer." He takes on "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels next week, and he plans to make this the best night of everyone's lives. He's in ROH to get a shot at the ROH World Championship, and calls out Jay Briscoe so he can share the ring with him. Instead, he gets ROH Television Champion Jay Lethal and Truth Martini. Neither of them give a crap about Alberto or Jay Briscoe, and Truth says the Television Championship is the greatest title in the world, not the World Championship, and demands an apology. Alberto then says that if Lethal is so desperate to get a piece of him, they can go at it right now, but Truth Martini refuses to give him the satisfaction.

Nigel McGuinness shows up. Since the main event from last week was out of control and there is no #1 contender for the ROH World Championship, he calls out Jay Briscoe so he can tell him personally who the new #1 contender is. Briscoe shows up and says that since the next pay-per-view is in Las Vegas, Nevada, the ROH World title match should have a four-way dance with all three men - Michael Elgin, Hanson, and Tommaso Ciampa - as #1 contender.

Jay Briscoe retains the ROH World Championship against Matt Taven. After the match, Michael Bennett attacks Briscoe with the Title of Love, and Maria tells him that the title is hers as it was given to her before telling Briscoe that he doesn't have the balls to fight her. Matt Briscoe makes the save and forces The Kingdom (Taven, Bennett, Maria) to retreat. He then throws down the gauntlet: next week, they start the show with a tag match between The Briscoes and The Kingdom.
