WWF Chairman Vince McMahon shows up. He says that the fans may think he is disappointed as of late that there is a new WWF Champion in The Rock, and he is, for had there been a fair one-on-one encounter between The Rock and Triple H, and had it not been for WWF co-owner Linda McMahon reinstating referee Earl Hebner as well as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Triple H would still be WWF Champion and he would not have to bear that indignity. Vince then proclaims that every genius has a plan, and whether the genius is General Montgomery, Napoleon or even Vince McMahon himself, a genius has multiple plans. He says that The Rock had been hoping to hold the WWF Championship long enough to bring it to London, England, for if he were to lose it here, nobody would hear about it as nothing newsworthy comes from London. Vince then promises that the world will know there will be a new WWF Champion after tonight, and that it will be a McMahon family member, because there is no Linda McMahon, Earl Hebner or "Stone Cold" Steve Austin tonight.

Triple H tells Shane that he is putting the cart before the horse and tells him that WWF Chairman Vince McMahon was talking about him when he said a McMahon family member would be champion.
