Raw Deal - Raw recap for August 30, 1999

RAW

The Rock shows up to start tonight's show. Last Thursday on SmackDown, he should have become WWF Champion, and if it weren't for WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels being in Triple H's pocket. He tells Shawn that he is not an impressive cowboy, and tells him to face him in the ring so he can wear his tiny cowboy hat on his head, spin his six-shooter around and turn the gun sideways before sticking it straight up his roody-poo candy ass. As for Triple H, he knows he put Shawn up to screwing him out of the WWF Championship, and tells him he has five seconds to face him before he finds him backstage and whips his ass all over the arena. Triple H fails to appear after five seconds, and The Rock heads to the back. As he looks for Triple H, he is suddenly ambushed by Triple H, Chyna and WWF co-owner Shane McMahon, who then attack him. Mankind comes after Triple H as referees and officials try to restore order. After some time, Shane heads to the ring with The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs). He says it seems that everyone feels a little frisky tonight, and if The Rock and Mankind want to play games, he is in the mood to play a few himself. He says both men feel they are worthy of the WWF Championship and another shot at Triple H, and says he will grant them their wish. Both men will face Triple H in the ring for the WWF Championship in a match tonight, but only if they can beat their respective opponents. The Rock is pitted against The Undertaker in a no-holds-barred, falls-count-anywhere, no-disqualification match. As for Mankind, whom Shane says he has beaten in the ring personally to become "the new king of hardcore," he says that Mankind's attack on The Mean Street Posse from last week bothered him, and he announces that Mankind will have to face all three members of The Mean Street Posse in a special 3-on-1 handicap match to get a title shot. He then tells Mankind to head to the ring so that match can happen right now. Mankind shows up with referee Teddy Long, who is dismissed by Shane, who says he will personally referee the match and threatens to disqualify Mankind on the spot if he lays a hand on him. The Posse attack Mankind from behind as he confronts Shane, and the match begins.

The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) beats Mankind by disqualification after special guest referee Shane McMahon - who allows the Posse to have their way with Mankind and refuses to count a pinfall attempt by Mankind - gets the Mandible Claw. Triple H runs into the ring to fight Mankind, but Mankind gets the upper hand. After the match, ring announcer Lilian Garcia says Mankind is the winner, but Shane has to correct her.

Michael Cole interviews The Undertaker, Big Show and Paul Bearer. The Undertaker says it is obvious that The Rock has run his mouth to the point that he is now standing across the ring from him. He says that today will be remembered as the day that he took a soup bone and jammed it all the way down The Rock's throat and there was nothing anybody could do about it.

Before the next match, The Undertaker says that The Rock has not earned his respect, and that he is not entitled to a match with him. He tells Big Show he will be facing The Rock instead, then tells him not to give him any lip, and to beat The Rock's ass and make him like it. The Undertaker then guests on commentary for the match.

Big Show beats The Rock in a no-holds-barred, falls-count-anywhere, no-disqualfication match. During the match, The Rock mouths off at 'Taker, then smacks him before falling victim to a choke slam by Big Show through the commentary table. Big Show then pins The Rock with his foot. After the match, Triple H hits The Rock with a cheap shot and almost gets choke slammed, and Mankind runs to the ring only to be decimated by Big Show and The Undertaker.

Michael Cole interviews Al Snow, who hopes that The Big Boss Man brings Pepper with him tonight. He has been passing reward posters around, and as he talks, a man and a woman are heard having sex, and Al Snow tells The Big Boss Man he will do anything to get Pepper back.

The Big Boss Man heads to the ring. He says he knows Al Snow is in the building, and asks him to come to the ring as he has something to tell him. Snow shows up, and Boss Man apologizes to him for what happened last week for not holding his end of the bargain. He says that he saw him crying on Sunday Night Heat and that it touched him, as he had a dog as a kid who got run over by a truck and was never seen alive again. He says he has found a way to make it up to him: head to his hotel room next week on SmackDown. If he does, Snow gets Pepper - who is being cared for, fed and watered by a third party - back, no questions asked, no tricks, no games. He says he will make sure of it that he gets Pepper back. Both men shake hands on this deal.

It is announced that "Road Dogg" Jesse James has a crushed disc in his spine after last Thursday's match against Chris Jericho and that he will be out of action for a while.

Before the next match, Taka Michinoku - who is accompanied by Sho Funaki (now known as just Funaki), neither of whom have been seen on Raw in quite some time - tells the Boston, Massachusetts crowd he has two words for them - "suck on it." The fact that this is three words is totally lost on commentary.

X-Pac beats Taka Michinoku despite the interference attempts from Funaki, who also eats an X-Factor after the match when he attacks X-Pac from behind. Michael Cole interviews X-Pac, who says he wants to get his hands on Big Show and The Undertaker.

The teams of The Blue Meanie and Stevie Richards, Mideon and Viscera, and Prince Albert and Droz are upset that they are not in tonight's four-team elimination tag team match, and have to be held by back by referees and officials.

A Four Corners Elimination Tag Team Match between Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy), The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw), and Hardcore and Crash Holly ends in a no-contest. Not long after the match starts, the teams of Mideon and Viscera, Prince Albert and Droz, and The Blue Meanie and Stevie Richards also get involved in the match. Referees and officials have to restore order.

WAR ZONE

The Rock shows up. He says that Big Show does not impress him by picking him up and choke slamming him through a table, and that The Undertaker does not impress him either. He dares them to face him in a handicap match later tonight, and says it will take more than a choke slam through a table to keep him down. He then tells Big Show to pull his pants down so he can admire all his "Mickey Mouse tattoos," then tells The Undertaker to take his 33-pound head, turn it sideways and stick it straight up Big Show's candy ass. Suddenly, Mankind shows up and admits he likes The Rock's comment, but tells him that he does not have to do this alone. He knows The Rock does not like him, and he did not like him after last year's Royal Rumble Match, but he says The Rock knows what he can do in the ring. He says he has been talking to the people, and says the people both want and need Mankind as The Rock's tag team partner. He then tells Big Show and The Undertaker have the testicular fortitude to put the tag team titles on the line tonight, he would like to become "The People's Partner." He asks The Rock to think about it, and together, they will stand side by side and lay the smack down. The Rock stops Mankind on the words "smack down," says he knows what he will do, and allows him to be "The People's Partner" this one time, then tells him never to steal his catchphrases again. As The Rock leaves, Meat shows up with Terri Runnels for the next match. Terri tries to turn The Rock on, and asks Terri if she wants to go one-on-one with The Great One, then tells her to go to the Smackdown Hotel, go to his suite, put on a nice, revealing negligee, asks her if she likes whipped cream, strawberries and champagne with the little bubbles, then tells her to "bubble [her] ass on out of here" before heading to the back. After this, we see GTV footage of Meat making out with Marianna - Chaz's girlfriend - behind the corner, which explains the sexual sounds when Michael Cole was interviewing Al Snow. Terri slaps Meat, and Chaz goes after Mat. Marianna tries to stop Chaz, but Terri Runnels attacks Marianna. Referees have to pull all four of them apart.

Miss Kitty gets involved in Debra's make-up routine.

Chyna glares at "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn before guesting on commentary for the next match. It is revealed that Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler are now commentating on a wooden table.

Jeff Jarrett and "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry beat D'Lo Brown and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn after Chyna gets in the ring with Jarrett's guitar and smashes it into Billy Gunn's head when Jarrett ducks.

Michael Cole interviews Test, who bring out Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. He asks them if they will be at the wedding. They both say yes. He then asks them who has the best memory, and says the best man will be the one with the best memory. Both men end up being the best man for the wedding.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats Gangrel with a leg bar. During the match, The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) are ejected from ringside after Matt grabs at Shamrock's leg and Shamrock goes after him. After the match, ring announcer Howard Finkel shows up and directs Shamrock's attention to the TitanTron before running away. Chris Jericho is then on the TitanTron. He says Shamrock sees himself as "The World's Most Dangerous Man" and that the only thing dangerous about Shamrock is that people watch his matches while operating heavy machinery. He does not have time to introduce him to his fists of fury, but on SmackDown, he will give him the distinct pleasure of getting on his hands and knees and kissing the grime off his boots before he pounds him unnecessarily upon his head and upper torso. He tells Shamrock that he will never, ever be the same again.

In the locker room, The Rock tells Mankind to watch him do what he does best, then pull out Mr. Socko when he tells him to.

Michael Cole interviews Ivory in the ring. Ivory tells Michael Cole to put his eyeballs back in his head where they belong, and that just because she was seen in her bra and panties last week on SmackDown does not mean she can be part of his fantasies. After calling Michael Cole a pervert, she says she's too hot for him and that 30 seconds with her would set his world on fire. She says she is no slut, then says Tori is a big-time slut. She then says she is a lady, and Tori runs in from behind Michael Cole and sandwiches him between herself and Ivory as she punches Ivory. Luna Vachon runs in to pull Tori off Ivory, then Jacqueline runs in and goes after Luna. Referees have to run in to pull all the women apart from one another.

Mankind and The Rock beat Big Show and The Undertaker to become the WWF Tag Team Champions! During the match, Paul Bearer shows up and shows The Undertaker something, and The Undertaker leaves Big Show on his own in the ring as he and Paul Bearer head to the back. During the match, Big Show shoves Mankind into referee Earl Hebner, allowing The Rock to hit Big Show in the back of the head with a steel chair. After the match, The Rock and Mankind both do The People's Elbow at the same time to get the win and the tag team titles.
