Feel The Heat - Sunday Night Heat recap for December 13, 1998

WWF owner Vince McMahon shows up to start tonight's show. He once again states that there is no chance in Hell that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will ever again become the WWF Champion, and while he will not go back on the word that he can qualify for the Royal Rumble Match should he win tonight, he says that Austin and his chances of qualifying will literally be buried alive by The Undertaker tonight. As far as The Rock is concerned, despite his condition, tonight's pay-per-view will be dedicated to him. As such, Vince says it is only right that the fans pay homage to The Rock tonight. He asks for a drumroll, then pays tribute to The Rock by unfurling two posters of the rock on both sides of the ring entrance. Vince says that The Rock was confused by the welcome sign to Canada being in both English and French, and says the people of the country cannot make up their minds if they want to be French or English, as they cannot speak either language very well and they obviously have an identity crisis. He then asks if the fans are really proud to be Canadian, then concludes they are not and tells them all to renounce their citizenship and leave the country, as everyone should leave in a mass exodus and crawl on their hands and knees to Washington, D.C. to ask for what they really want: to be recognized as United States citizens. Vince then introduces everyone to a real American: his son Shane McMahon, who guests on commentary tonight.

Before the next match, Debra McMichael says she is sure that Jeff Jarrett will beat Goldust tonight, then promises a sneak peak at what the fans will miss tonight as she can tease them, but still please them.

Duane Gill retains the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship against Matt Hardy after The Blue Meanie gets in the ring and hits Matt Hardy with a DDT behind the referee's back.

Michael Cole and Grand Master Robbie are at the Bop It Game Center. After some trickery by George and Adam, Kaientai (Taka Michinoku, Sho Funaki, Men's Teioh, Dick Togo) prove they have a bit of a ways to go when it comes to their knowledge of English.

We see footage from earlier today where Michael Cole interviews The Rock. As The Rock speaks, Mr. Socko can be seen from behind. The Rock says he drove the corporate caddy into the arena tonight, and everyone rooted for him so he could tell them to shut up. Mankind is seen behind The Rock as The Rock continues to talk. When The Rock is asked about Mankind, The Rock says "Piss on Mankind!" This leads to Mankind opening the glass doors behind to beat him up with random things in the room.

Backstage, The Rock finds out from the doctor that he has a couple of broken ribs. As The Rock tells WWF owner Vince McMahon to tell Mankind that he just screwed himself out of a title shot, it is revealed that Mankind is watching the broadcast and listening in with a pair of headphones. Mankind leaves the room and heads to the ring. He says that is is a happy day as he has an early Christmas gift for Vince. Since Vince taught him very well to read the fine print, he states that the fine prints that if The Rock should fail to wrestle tonight for any reason, the WWF Championship becomes his. He then tells Vince that if he wants to erase that clause in the contract, then they can have a "father-son talk," as Vince has something he wants. In the doctor's room, The Rock is livid.

In the doctor's room, The Rock talks with Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco and Sgt. Slaughter.

Before the match, it is announced that Scott "Too Hot" Taylor will have to be on crutches for some time due to the ankle injury he suffered last week. Scott Taylor then guests on commentary for the next match.

Kevin Quinn gets a surprise upset win on "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher with a schoolboy pin.

D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) and The Corporation (WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, The Big Boss Man) are seen backstage.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley beats Darren "Puke" Drozdov. After the match, WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock and The Big Boss Man show up, and Shawn tells D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) to celebrate now, because it is going to suck from here. He announces that tonight at Rock Bottom DX will be barred from ringside during the tag team title match, and if Triple H or Chyna stick their nose in anyone's business, The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) will be stripped of the WWF Tag Team Championships on the spot. As for the Outlaws, he gives them credit for pulling a fast one on him, but as the power guy, he is bullet-proof, and to show there are no hard feelings, he will give them a good warm-up match tonight on Sunday Night Heat.

WWF owner Vince McMahon is interviewed backstage. Vince says that The Rock will not be forfeiting the WWF Championship, and while it will require some negotiation on his Mankind on his part, he compares that Mankind is as smart as "the average Canadian fan," and says he is sure they can come to some sort of agreement.

Jeff Jarrett and Debra McMichael are interviewed by Michael Cole in the ring. Jarrett says that when all is said and done tonight and he beats Goldust, Goldust will have to strip "buck-ass nekkid." He says that he will not allow Debra to show off her body, and Debra says she will be the one person who stays "wrapped."

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) vs. The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) ends with "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock and The Big Boss Man attacking the Outlaws. After the match, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmlsey shows up to help out the Outlaws, then Shamrock and Boss Man proceed to attack The Acolytes. The light sthen go out, and The Undertaker is heard announcing to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin that tonight, they write the final chapter of their journeys down the highway to Hell, and says that Austin will reach rock bottom tonight. He says that he has claimed Austin's soul, and tonight, he claims his very existence, as Austin has grown weaker each day while his ministry has grown stronger, and upon the grave, he will build his ministry. Thunder then strikes near the open grave for tonight's Buried Alive match, and the show ends.
