Raw Deal - Raw recap for December 21, 1998

RAW

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon tells co-owner Shane McMahon, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco that he will be out for a while to train for the Royal Rumble Match, and when he comes back, he will give The Corporation a bonus. Vince puts Shane in charge, and tells him to keep his ego and temper in check, and Patterson and Brisco will be held responsible for Shane's actions.

WWF co-owner shows up with The Corporation (Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, The Rock, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Kem Shamrock, The Big Boss Man, WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, Test). Shane announces that WWF co-owner has "stepped out for a few moments" and he has the keys to the kindom, and he will do things "the Shane McMahon way." D-Generation ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) show up, and Triple H says that Shane may have the keys to the kingdom, they have the keys to the boiler room. Mankind shows up, and Shane asks if there is a loser convention in town as they are the Bad News Bears of the World Wrestling Federation. Triple H says the real bad news is that Shane is an "even bigger asshole than [his] old man." Shane says he appreciates the compliment, then gets down to business. He says that The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg, Billy Gunn) are not tag team champion material and that there will be no rematch, and Shawn puts Billy Gunn in a match against Ken Shamrock before putting Road Dogg in a match against The Big Boss Man. Shane asks Shawn if he anything special for tonight's audience. Shawn puts Triple H and X-Pac in a tag team match against The Rock and Test. Shane saves the best for last, and tells Mankind that nobody puts their hands on his father Vince without a little payback, and makes a match between Mankind and himself, and it will take place in the ring, not in the parking lot, and promises he will finish what his father started and kick his ass. Mankind laughs at Shane and his challenge, as does Triple H and the rest of DX, and says the audience will love watching Shane try to kick his ass.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin is on this week's special double issue of People as one of the most intriguing people of the year as well as one of the breakthrough people of the year.

Backstage, D'Lo Brown tells "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry that whatever business has with the women behind the nearby double doors can wait, as they have a match tonight. Henry says he'll take care of his business outside of the ring before taking care of his business inside the ring, but D'Lo Brown is not exactly convinced even as Mark Henry asks D'Lo to stand guard.

Al Snow beats Gangrel. After the match, the lights go dark and Edge and Christian show up as red lights glow around the arena. The arena then goes completely dark, and Al Snow is covered in blood when the lights come back on. (This match is the debut of new WWF referee Teddy Long, who would go on to become a manager before becoming two-time General Manager of SmackDown years later.)

During the break, it is revealed that The Brood's (Gangrel, Edge, Christian) has made Al Snow go insane.

"Bad Ass" Billy Gunn beats "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock to become the WWF Intercontinental Champion after reversing a roll-up with one of his own...almost. WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up and says that the title was never on the line, and that the only person who said it was is the announcer and that his opinion does not mean squat. Ken Shamrock therefore retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Billy Gunn moons Shawn, telling him to kiss his ass, and Shamrock blindsides Billy Gunn before taking the Intercontinental title away from him.

Road Warrior Hawk shows up. He says it is time to let the cat out of the bag, and says Droz is "the pusher man" and "the enabler," and says he is done covering for him as he has been clean for quite some time. An angry Droz shows up and admits it was a good plan from Droz to make him undependable in Road Warrior Animal, make him undependable, and take his place in L.O.D. 2000. He says that Droz was the dope pusher and that he was the dope, and nobody regrets it more than him. When he heals up, L.O.D. will stand for "Legion of Doom" and "Lords of Discipline," and he will discipline the hell out of Droz. He then says that the best way to fuel a fire that has gone wild is with hatred, and he has plenty of that for him. Droz attacks Hawk as soon as he turns his back, and Animal pulls Droz off Hawk. Droz yells "I don't need you!" before walking off.

"Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry says he cannot wait, and knocks on the double doors. Terri Runnels and Jacqueline answer, and Mark Henry goes behind the doors, much to the chagrin of D'Lo Brown.

We see the moment from around last Christmas where "Stone Cold" Steve Austin gave a man in a Santa Claus suit the Stone Cold Stunner.

Before the next match, Owen Hart shows up after The Blue Blazer does. He insists that he is not The Blue Blazer, and says there is a little bit of Blue Blazer in every single one of us, including Blackman. The Blue Blazer then attacks Blackman from behind as Owen Hart guests on commentary, but he leaves after insisting he was not The Blue Blazer last week despite being unmasked on live television.

"The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman beats The Blue Blazer by disqualification after Owen Hart attacks Blackman. Goldust shows up and gets in the ring, and goes after The Blue Blazer while Blackman continues to fight Owen. Goldust holds The Blazer back and Blackman unmasks him. The man behind the mask is none other than Jeff Jarrett.

Jacqueline and Terri Runnels tease "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry by announcing their intention of taking a shower together...with Mark Henry watching. D'Lo Brown is still standing guard at the door.

"Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry watches Jacqueline and Terri Runnels shower together.

WAR ZONE

Before the next match, "Road Dogg" Jesse James says it's a shame that the match is not for the WWF Hardcore Championship and that he's considering stealing it from him. He also says that he is from Cobb County, Georgia, and that he had a cousin in a correctional facility over there and that one night, the guards got "a little too funky" with the nightsticks. He then says it's too bad that The Big Boss Man is "too much of a chickenshit" to put the Hardcore title on the line. The Big Boss Man tells Road Dogg that he does not know what hardcore and hard times are all about, but he has a little message for him. He'll put the title on the line, and show him what hard times are all about.

"Road Dogg" Jesse James beats The Big Boss Man to become the WWF Hardcore Champion in a match that goes all over the arena and ends with Mankind throwing a net over The Big Boss Man before nailing him with a nightstick.

Jacqueline and Terri Runnels get "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry out of his clothes, then put a dog collar on him before getting him on a massage table. After putting some oil on the back of his legs, they put a ball gag in his mouth before putting whipped cream on his chest and licking it off. Terri then turns on a vibrator. D'Lo Brown is still standing guard at the door.

Jeff Jarrett talks about how women in politics piss him off.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco confront WWF co-owner Vince McMahon and tell him not to face Mankind, but Shane has his mind made up and says he will face Mankind after Mankind laughed in his and his family's face.

Terri Runnels places a blinder on "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry's eyes before before they tie Mark Henry to the table.

The J.O.B. Squad (Bob Holly and 2 Cold Scorpio) beat The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) by disqualification after Faarooq and 2 Cold Scorpio brawl in the crowd, and The Acolytes beat up The J.O.B. Squad after the match.

Mankind beats Shane McMahon by disqualification. During the match, Mankind grabs a steel chair, then hands it to Shane and dares him to hit him with it and to "Show some balls, you gutless coward." He does, but it has no effect, and as Mankind traps Shane in the corner, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco try to help Shane only to get beat up for it by Mankind, with Mankind squeezing Pat Patterson in the privates. Mankind then nails Shane in the knee with a corner before pulling out Mr. Socko and putting Shane in the Mandible Claw. The Rock shows up and attacks Mankind, ending the match. All the while, WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels has to hold the rest of The Corporation back. D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) shows up. X-Pac hits Shane with the Bronco Buster, then DX fights off The Corporation, and Patterson, Brisco and The Rock have to help Shane to the back.

We see a vignette of "Classy" Freddy Blassie as "the real Santa Claus," which is yet another vulgar guy in a Santa Claus suit.

Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco are outside of the arena, wondering what they are going to do and what will happen to their Christmas bonus when WWF co-owner Vince McMahon finds out what happened to WWF co-owner Shane McMahon.

D'Lo Brown has to head to the next match alone, as "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry is tied up behind the double doors. As the next match begins, we find out that Terri Runnels and Jacqueline are whipping Mark Henry while a C-clamp is applied to his genitals.

The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) beat D'Lo Brown. During the match, Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler get details on what is happening to "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry backstage, which somehow involves gerbils. After the match, Lawler finds out that Mark Henry has gotten out of the room, and when Mark Henry shows up, he has handcuffs around his wrists.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon shows back up, and the cat is let out of the bag about what happened to WWF co-owner Vince McMahon.

The Undertaker is on the newest issue of Tattoo Magazine, available on newsstands today.

Before the next match, WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels announces that the rest of The Corporation will be at ringside, but the rest of D-Generation X (Chyna, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) will not. WWF co-owner Vince McMahon shows up and, since it has not been a good night and because it is the holiday season, the rest of D-Generation X will be allowed to stay so everyone can watch what will happen.

D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and X-Pac) vs. The Corporation (The Rock and Test) ends when everyone on both sides fight each other all over the ring arena before Kane shows up and choke slams Triple H, "Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn. WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is seen winking before Kane choke slams X-Pac, and it becomes obvious that Kane is the "Christmas bonus" and part of The Corporation. Chyna ends up being choke slammed after she is surrounded by The Corporation to end the show.
