In Your House 26: Rock Bottom - The Results

We see footage from yesterday at Planet Hollywood in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Rock welcomes everyone to the pay-per-view. He says this will be the first of many pay-per-views to be subtitled "In The Rock's House," and will feature such titles as "Rock Solid," "Rock 'n Roll," and one of his personal favorites "Layin' the SmackDown." Every pay-per-view will bear his stamp of his 100% guarantee of the finest action in sports entertainment today. He then tells everyone to enjoy the show.

Before the next match, Val Venis says "The Big Valbowski" is a lot like butter on a pancake: they both melt in the hot spot. When the Godfather shows up, he announces that he will give his hos the night off and a Christmas present: Val Venis for the whole night. Val Venis he has the yule log if the hos have the fireplace. When D'Lo Brown and "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry (no longer known as "The Nation") show up, they show up with Terri Runnels and Jacqueline. It is then announced that D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac) are barred from tonight's tag team title match.

D'Lo Brown and "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry beat Val Venis and The Godfather. During the match, Jacqueline and Terri Runnels are seen having a confrontation with the hoes. This distracts the referee, as The Godfather and D'Lo Brown have to get between the women, which causes a confrontation at ringside between them. As this distraction goes on, Jacqueline gets in the ring, pulls Val Venis' trunks down (revealing a thong underneath) and slaps Venis, allowing Mark Henry to hit the splash for the win.

Dok Hendrix is joined by "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna in the WWF Superstar Line room. Triple H says WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels thinks he is smart by barring them and X-Pac from ringside in The New Age Outlaws' ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) tag team title match, but they will soon see who the king of oneupsmanship is.

The Rock tells WWF co-owners Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon he cannot forfeit the WWF Championship, but "the Corporate Ribs" are hurting. Vince ensures The Rock that this will be taken care of.

The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) beat The Oddities (Kurrgan and Golga).

Kevin Kelly announces in the WWF.com that earlier today, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was seen looking at the grave that will be filled in tonight's Buried Alive Match.

WWF co-owners Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon, Pat Patterson, and Gerald Brisco are seen talking backstage. Brisco and Patterson want to deal with Mankind for Vince again, but Vince tells Patterson and Brisco "I'll take care of it," but what "it" is is not readily explained and Mankind is not specifically mentioned.

"The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman beats Owen Hart by count-out after Own Hart decides that he has had enough and heads to the back after Blackman puts him in the Sharpshooter. Blackman follows him, but gets back in the ring before the ten-count.

Royal Rumble is live on pay-per-view on Sunday, January 24, 1999!

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon looks for Mankind backstage. He finds a note saying "Mankind's Office" on the room to the boiler room, and Mankind asks him to come in, saying it's about time they talked. Mankind is tucked away inside a very small room.

The Brood (Gangrel, Edge, Christian) beats The J.O.B. Squad (Al Snow, 2 Cold Scorpio, and a now-short haired Bob Holly). Before the match, it is announced that Jim Ross is under the weather and could not be here tonight (in reality, Jim Ross had suffered his second Bell's Palsy attack at Capital Carnage, and will not be calling matches again until WrestleMania 15.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon is still talking with Mankind backstage.

Jeff Jarrett beats Goldust in a Striptease Match after Debra McMichael hits Goldust in the back of the head with a guitar. Suddenly, WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up. He asks Jarrett to head to the back, then asks Debra to stay in the ring only to reverse the decision and declares Goldust the winner, meaning Debra has to take her clothes off. (Had the decision stood, Goldust would have to disrobe.) Debra proceeds to take off her clothes and Shawn pulls out a $100 bill and places it between her breasts, but Debra tells Shawn to put the money away as Jarrett watches in horror from backstage. As the camera focuses on Jarrett a second time, The Blue Blazer is seen running behind him, and he heads to the ring and covers Debra up with his cape after Debra takes her bikini top off. Debra wants to go the whole nine yards, but Jarrett insists she head to the back.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon comes out of Mankind's "office" with a smile on his face.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against THe Big Boss Man and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock. During the match, WWF Commissioner "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels nearly costs the Outlaws the match and the titles by dragging referee Tim White out of the ring so that Big Boss Man can hit Billy Gunn with a nightstick, but Gunn kicks out. Michaels tries to interfere again by grabbing at one of Gunn's ankle, but he grabs and pulls at one of Shamrock's instead as he has Billy Gunn in a vertical suplex, causing Gunn to fall on Shamrock, pin him, and retain the tag team titles.

WWF co-owner Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon talk to The Rock. Vince says that Mankind wants the clause stating that the WWF Championship will be forfeited and change hands if The Rock cannot compete whited out of the contract, and that Mankind wants witnesses. Vince asks that Shane and The Rock play along with Mankind's plan.

Before the next match, WWF owner Vince McMahon and Mankind meet concerning the change in the contract. Mankind says there is nothing he would like better than to "kick The Rock's corporate little ass around," then realizes he likes something else even more than that: redemption. Mankind recaps what happened at Survivor Series, saying he was pinned or submitted in the finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. Mankind is willing to remove the clause from the contract that states that the WWF Championship will be forfeited and changing hands if and only if Vince admits that Mankind did not quit. He then demands that Vince start talking on his knees, but Vince he says he heard him say he quit. Mankind rips the contract and tosses it at Vince, and The Rock attacks Mankind, starting the match.

Mankind beats The Rock to become the WWF Champion...almost. During the match, WWF co-owner Vince McMahon commands the referee to disqualify Mankind "for any legitimate reason" after The Rock and Mankind fight outside of the ring. Later on, when Mankind hits The Rock with a leg drop to the gut, Vince tries to get Mankind disqualified, but Mankind responds by hitting referee Mike Chioda with a piledriver, attacking the timekeeper and going after Vince only to be hit in the back with a steel chair. The Rock then calls for WWF co-owner Vince McMahon to hit Mankind with the WWF Championship, but Shane nails The Rock instead and Mankind falls on The Rock. Referee Tim White slides in and makes the pinfall, but The Rock kicks out before three. Mankind eventually beats The Rock with the Mandible Claw to win the WWF Championship, but Vince McMahon takes the microphone, declares Mankind won the match, but not the championship, as The Rock did not submit and therefore retains the WWF Championship. Mankind responds by putting Vince McMahon in the Mandible Claw. Shane hits Mankind in the back with a chair, but that only causes Mankind to let go. Shane does it again as Mankind gets the Claw back on Vince, and he lets go of Vince before putting the Claw on Shane and kneeing Vince in the face in the corner. Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco run in, but Mankind makes short work of them both. He is then attacked by The Big Boss Man and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, and The Rock joins in.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin beats The Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match to qualify for the 1999 Royal Rumble. As Austin chases Paul Bearer to the back, The Undertaker comes out of the grave after a wheelbarrow full of dirty proves not to be enough. The Undertaker, not knowing where Austin is, lies in wait only for a fiery explosion to rock through the grave. Kane comes out and fights The Undertaker, then a motor can be heard. This distracts The Undertaker, and Kane hits The Undertaker with a Tombstone Driver. Austin then returns to the grave with a backhoe, and Austin directs the driver to dump the dirt in the grave. After the dirt is dumped, the driver then dumps even more dirt into the grave as Austin adds some of his own. Austin then grabs a cooler full of beer, and Austin is declared the winner while he and referee Earl Hebner have a cold one. After celebrating in the ring, Austin heads to the grave and empties one out for The Undertaker as the backhoe continues to fill the grave with dirt.
