Starrcade 1998 - The Results

It is announced at the beginning of the show that a new stipulation has been added to Eric Bischoff vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair at the demand of Bischoff: the rest of The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Dean Malenko) have been banned from ringside for their match. Flair has accepted this stipulation.

It is announced that QVC will have another WCW/nWo special on December 30th from 8 PM to 10 PM Eastern time.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund reports that Steve "Mongo" McMichael has been arrested and escorted out of the arena. It is also announced that some old friends are backstage, but the details on who exactly is backstage and what they might be doing here can only be mentioned on the WCW Hotline.

Kidman beats Juventud Guerrera and Rey Mysterio Jr. to become the WCW Cruiserweight Champion! During the match, Eddie Guerrero makes his way to ringside as referee Charles Robinson is pre-occupied with Rey and pushes Kidman back so that Juvi can get a sunset flip powerbomb pinfall attempt. Rey gets back in the ring and kicks Juvi in the back, rolling Juvi over so that Kidman can reverse the pinfall attempt into one of his own and win the title, much to the chagrin of Eddie. After the match, Eddie chews out both Rey and Juvi, says they are not LWO material and says Rey and Juvi cannot beat a "pretty boy" like Kidman. He also chews out Rey for going against everything he tells him to do, and then comes to the conclusion that if you want to do something right, you have to do it yourself, and challenges Kidman for the belt because he knows he can win it. Kidman shows back up, says Eddie talks a lot of garbage when he is in the ring, and if he wants a shot, there's no time like the present. Eddie asks him for some to put his wrestling gear on, but he says Eddie is a sissy if he doesn't take him on right now. With his manhood challenged, Eddie takes the challenge.

Kidman retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Eddie Guerrero. As Eddie's bodyguard distracts the referee, Juventud Guerrera tries to push Kidman off the top rope. As this is going on, Rey gets on the apron and pushes Eddie off, causing Eddie to crotch himself on the top rope and knock Juvi off the apron on the way down and allowing Kidman to hit the Shooting Star Press for the win.

Norman Smiley beats Prince Iaukea with the chickenwing, which is now known as the Norman Conquest.

Scott Hall shows up wearing an Outsiders T-shirt. He says that it is no secret that 1998 has not been the best year of his life, in and out of the ring, and he has nobody to blame for that but himself. He lost everything he ever cared about, but he is okay with that. Later tonight, a guy he used to look at as his big brother - Kevin Nash - has the opportunity of a lifetime. He and Nash used to ride up and down the road together and talk about what it would be like to be "the main man in wrestling," and says that Nash told him he had to prove himself to him, and that people all across the country have said that he has to prove something to them. Hall says he doesn't have to prove anything to anybody except himself, and he cannot wait to kiss 1998 goodbye, as 1999 is his year.

Before the next match, Ernest "The Cat" Miller says the crowd should be glad to see him, as for once, they get to see the greatest in action as he is the greatest athlete to step in the ring. After he gets down whupping Saturn, everyone will see why he is the greatest. After Saturn shows, Miller gives him the usual five seconds to leave the ring, and when he turns around, Saturn nails in the face with a hard right.

Saturn beats Ernest "The Cat" Miller after Sonny Onoo tries to hit Saturn with a thrust kick as Miller holds Saturn back only for Saturn to duck, causing Onoo to accidentally nail Miller instead. Miller pushes Onoo to the mat only to fall victim to a Death Valley Driver.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Rick Flair. He says Eric Bischoff still runs WCW and calls the shot. He met with the rest of The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Dean Malenko), and regardless of who is here, Bischoff is getting his ass kicked tonight. When he says that they will beat up Bischoff, they will beat him up piece by piece, and Bischoff will find out what it is like to be jet-flyin', limousine ridin', kiss-stealin' wheelin-dealin' son of a gun, as he will bleed, sweat and pay the price of wrestling tradition.

Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell find Konnan. Scott tells him "the black-and-red is dead," and that even though he has promises not to lay a hand on Lex Luger, he cannot promise the same for him. This gets Konnan angry, and Lex Luger shows up to hold Konnan back.

Brian Adams and Scott Norton beat Fit Finley and Jerry Flynn. It is announced that as per the WCW Championship Committee, Kevin Nash vs. Goldberg for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship is officially a no-disqualification match.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Eric Bischoff. Bischoff says he is profoundly sorry for all the pain he knows he has caused, not only to "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and his family but to wrestling fans around the world. He knows he has caused pain and spoke untruths about Flair, and wants to set the record straight. He says that he is disappointed that Flair has decided to participate in their match, and feels bad for him and his family, as Flair is old, broke and has a bad heart, going on to say that Flair has never saved a nickel from his career as he has paid for also those limousines and jets while the company pays for all of his. He then says everyone knows who the king of kiss stealing is before he leaves.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho and Ralphus wish all the Jerichoholics a happy Jericholiday. Jericho then says that he does not understand a word that Konnan says because he is not hip enough, and does not know what "rowdy rowdy" and "bowdy bowdy" means. After putting himself on a pedestal, he also tells Konnan to pull up his pants because his underwear is hanging out.

Konnan retains the WCW World Television Championship against Chris Jericho. During the match, Konnan shoves referee Billy Silverman, and Jericho hits Konnan with the Television title as Konnan tries to revive Silverman; Konnan kicks out. Konnan then goes for the Tequila Sunrise after Silverman is back up and retains the title after Jericho submits.

The Giant answers questions for an interview on WCW.com, and says he will squash Diamond Dallas Page like the cockroach that he is.

Eric Bischoff beats "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. During the match, Flair shoves referee Charles Robinson to the mat. When Flair puts Bischoff in the Figure Four Leg Lock, Curt Hennig - who has not been seen in months - runs into the ring and hands Bischoff a foreign object. Bischoff knocks Flair out, and gets the pinfall and the win.

Diamond Dallas Page beats The Giant. During the match, The Giant tosses Diamond Dallas Page into referee Billy Silverman during a kick-out. Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up with a steel chair to swing at DDP, but Hart hits The Giant instead and DDP hits Bret with a low blow. The Giant goes for a choke slam after catching DDP out of the air, and is about to slam DDP from the top rope to the mat when DDP counters it into a Diamond Cutter for the win. Bret tries to get in the ring after the match, but DDP stops him from doing so.

Kevin Nash beats Goldberg in a no-disqualification match, giving Goldberg his first-ever loss, breaking an undefeated streak of 173 wins and more than a year long and becoming the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. This happens after a member of arena security gets in the ring and hits Goldberg in the chest with a taser. This member of arena security turns out to be Scott Hall. Before that, Disco Inferno and Bam Bam Bigelow go after Goldberg, but Goldberg makes quick work of Disco and sends Bigelow out of the ring, where Bigelow is ejected out of the arena. After this, Scott Hall hits Goldberg with a taser, and Kevin Nash hits the Jackknife Power Bomb for the win and the World title.
