World War 3 1998 - The Results

The show begins with a white limousine pulling up and Goldberg coming out from the back door.

It is announced on commentary that Hollywood Hogan is strangely absent tonight.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund plugs the WCW Hotline with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan's predictions on who will win the World War 3 match as well as results for World War 3 later tonight.

Wrath beats Glacier after reversing the Ice Pick into a Meltdown.

We see a video package of Bret "The Hit Man" Hart talking about Booker T, Lex Luger, Chris Benoit, and Diamond Dallas Page, and says he will make an example out of Diamond Dallas Page. He also says that if we are lucky, Diamond Dallas Page will never wrestle again.

Stevie Ray beats Konnan by disqualification after Konnan shoves referee Billy Silverman to the corner when he tells him to get off of Stevie Ray and stop punching him. Earlier in the match, Vincent accidentally hits Stevie Ray in the side of the head with a slap jack. After the match, Booker T shows up and asks him to stop. Booker T helps Stevie Ray up, but Stevie Ray pushes him aside and rejects his help, choosing nWo Hollywood over his own brother.

Sonny Onoo and Ernest "The Cat" Miller beat Kaz Hayashi and Saturn. Before the match, Onoo and Miller show up with a two-man ring crew who cool down Onoo with a towel when he knocked out of the ring. At one point in the match, Onoo offers Hayashi money, but Hayashi punches him, knocking the money out of Onoo's hands. Onoo ends up getting the cover after Saturn gets him in a front facelock only for The Cat to hit him with a roundhouse kick, allowing Onoo to fall on Saturn and get the cover.

Chris Jericho answers interview questions for WCW.com, saying he will beat Bobby Duncum Jr. tonight.

Before the next match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund finds out that Juventud Guerrera has joined the Latino World Order, and Eddie Guerrero says that Juvi has seen the light and joined the Latino World Order in their mission against Eric Bischoff. Rey shows up and confronts Eddie for using Juventud to keep him from getting a title shot. Eddie tells Rey that Juvi has shown what sacrifice and raza is all about, and that he is the Cruiserweight Champion as a result. Eddie insinuates that Rey does not understand what sacrifice is all about, and offers to take him to the back to show him, as he needs to sacrifice for the needs of the many and forget about his own needs, as the LWO is his family now. Rey tells Eddie he will do something about this.

Kidman beats Juventud Guerrera to become the WCW Cruiserweight Champion after Rey Mysterio Jr. grabs onto Kidman to stop Juventud from hitting him with a hurricanrana off the top rope. After the match, Rey is confronted by the Latino World Order, and Eddie tells Rey that either he is in or he is out. Rey takes off the tanktop and tosses it at Eddie, then hightails it for the back with the LWO not far behind.

nWo Hollywood is seen attacking Rick Steiner backstage, and security has to hold them back. The Giant ends up taking Rick to the ring with him, and Scott and Buff proceed to beat Rick up. Goldberg runs into the ring as Scott Steiner has Rick in the Steiner Recliner, and it does not take long to hit Scott with the Steiner. Buff hits Goldberg with a chair, but it has no effect, and Goldberg tosses Scott and Buff's referee out of one ring and all the way to the other side of another ring when he jumps on Golderg's back.Rick and Goldberg hug in a sign of respect, and Goldberg raises Rick Steiner's arm in victory.

Scott Hall shows up with nWo Hollywood, and Eric Bischoff shows up shortly afterward. Bischoff tells Hall that since the last time he saw him, it was a revelation for him. He then says it is survey time, and survey says "Get him!" nWo Hollywood goes after Hall, and Kevin Nash rushes into the ring and cleans house. Hall and Nash stand tall in the ring after nWo Hollywood is taken out of the ring one man at a time, and the crowd chants "Outsiders!" Hall and Nash look at each other, then Hall holds up the Wolfpac hand symbol. Nash slowly leaves the ring and heads to the back.

Chris Jericho retains the WCW World Television Championship against Bobby Duncum Jr. after Duncum tries to grab Ralphus and get him in the ring in response to Ralphus grabbing at one of his feet from outside of the ring, only to be blasted in the back with the TV title belt from behind without the referee being able to see it.

Kevin Nash wins the World War 3 Match to earn a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. During the match, Kevin Nash clears out Ring 3 in a matter of minutes, and waits until 20 men are remaining to get into Ring 2. Near the end, Bam Bam Bigelow gets in the ring from out of the crowd, but the participants in the match keep him out. Security surround Bam Bam Bigelow, and Goldberg rushes out to get his hands on Bam Bam Bigelow. Numerous security guards have to pull both men apart at ringside, and Bam Bam Bigelow is ejected from the arena.

Diamond Dallas Page retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. During the match, DDP tries to hit Bret with a chair. Referee Charles Robinson tries to stop him, and Bret pushes DDP into Robinson. The nWo referee from Scott Steiner and Buff Bagwell's beatdown on Rick Steiner shows up and tries to take the chair away from DDP, and Bret takes the foreign object that he dropped earlier from the match out of the Robinson's pocket and nails DDP with it. Referee Mickey Jay checks on Robinson, and Bret applies the Sharpshooter to DDP. The referee calls for the bell, and the bell is rung, even though the nWo referee is not an official referee and DDP never tapped to the Sharpshooter. Mickey Jay confronts the nWo referee, and DDP hits Bret with the Diamond Cutter to retain the United States title.
