Survivor Series 1998 - The Results

WWF owner Vince McMahon is already at ringside with Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco, WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter and The Big Boss Man, who all help Vince to his feet. McMahon says he has promised and guaranteed a new WWF Champion and a Survivor Series that nobody will forget, and that it is his pleasure to announce the first two participants in tonight's Deadly Games Tournament. He introduces Mankind first, then introduces Mankind's mystery opponent: a man and a charismatic legend who debuted in the WWF in 1990, who packs a one-loss record in the last six years, has jumped ship to WCW (an acronym that Vince pronounces with a faux Southern accent) was sidelined for two years with a massive injury, and fought back from the brink to get his job back. He is none other than the coach of the Pasadena Chargers - an elementary school football team - Dwayne Gill, who is in reality a jobber who has spent a few years in the WWF in the early '90s. He now shows up with a bald head as well as black tights, a white Pasadena Chargers T-shirt, a single black arm pad and white knee pads and boots. Mankind quickly beats Dwayne Gill with a Double Arm DDT to continue to the quarter-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament.

Kevin Kelly interviews Sable, who says that Jacqueline has pissed her off and made her more determined than ever before. She throws the ice pack she has placed on her neck to the wall as she promises to take the WWF Women's Championship from her.

Al Snow beats Jeff Jarrett, and will Mankind in the quarter-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. During the match, Debra McMichael gets on the apron with Head, and Al Snow tries to use Jarrett's guitar as a weapon. Jarrett picks up Head, and Snow swings the guitar only for Jarrett to duck. He tries to hit Snow with Head, but Snow stops him from doing so and manages to hit Jarrett with Head for the three-count instead.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin beats The Big Boss Man by disqualification after Big Boss Man hits Austin with his nightstick to continue to the quarter-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. WWF owner Vince McMahon, Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter are seen watching the match from backstage. The Big Boss Man continues to strike and choke Austin with his nightstick after the match.

Michael Cole interviews WWF owner Vince McMahon, who is not at all concerned that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has advanced in the Deadly Games Tournament, saying there is more than that came from and that Austin is in for it.

X-Pac and Steven Regal wrestle to a double-count out. WWF owner Vince McMahon, Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter are seen watching the match from backstage, and when they see the double count-out result, Vince - livid at the though of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin being given a bye to the semi-finals - orders Sgt. Slaughter to rush into the ring and call for a five-minute sudden death overtime period. X-Pac is unable to continue, however, and Steven Regal chases X-Pac to the back, and the sudden death period is rendered absolutely meaningless.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats Goldust with an ankle lock after referee Jimmy Korderas stops Goldust from hitting Shamrock with Shattered Dreams to continue to the quarter-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament.

Michael Cole reports that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has refused much-needed medical attention, and intends on competing in the semi-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament.

The Rock beats "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley to face "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock in the quarter-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. Before the next match, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco show up instead of Triple H Briscoe, on the behest of WWF owner Vince McMahon, informs the crowd that Triple H is not here and will not wrestle, and that Triple H chose not to show despite being given tickets to the show a couple of weeks ago. Therefore, he can fine him and fine him heavily upon his return (even though it is evident that Triple H is recovering from knee surgery). Pat Patterson tells The Rock that there will be no forfeit, and that Vince McMahon has found a last-minute replacement opponent: The Big Boss Man, who was eliminated earlier by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Unfortunately for The Big Boss Man, he falls victim to an inside cradle as soon as he runs into the ring, and The Rock beats Big Boss Man in a matter of seconds to head to the quarter-finals.

The Undertaker beats Kane to continue to the semi-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament after a distraction from Paul Bearer. After the Tombstone Piledriver, Paul Bearer holds down one of Kane's feet to ensure Kane does not kick out. Kane attacks the tournament as the tournament bracket is still on-screen.

Mankind beats Al Snow with the Mandible Claw to meet "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in the semi-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. WWF owner Vince McMahon, Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter are seen watching the match from backstage, and it is revealed by Gerald Brisco that WWF owner Vince McMahon is the one who put Mr. Socko around the forehead of Head. Not long after this, Mankind notices Mr. Socko is wrapped around Head, and attacks Head and freeing Mr. Socko. It is not long before Mankind hits the Double Arm DDT and applies the Mandible Claw - with Mr. Socko - on Snow to head to the semi-finals.

The Rock beats "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock to meet The Undertaker in the semi-finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. During the match, The Big Boss Man shows up and circles the ring, and gets on the apron to try to distract The Rock only for The Rock to hit Shamrock with a low blow behind the referee's back. Shortly after this, The Big Boss Man tries to toss his nightstick to Shamrock, but The Rock ends up catching it and hitting Shamrock in the head with it behind the referee's back to continue to the semi-finals.

Michael Cole interviews Paul Bearer, who says that the only rock The Undertaker is a piece of cold, hard piece of granite that he carves his victims' names on. He promises that The Undertaker will become the next WWF Champion.

Sable beats Jacqueline to become the WWF Women's Champion! At one point in the match, "Marvelous" Marc Mero tries to interfere, but Sable lays him out with a Sable Bomb.

Mankind beats "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to continue to the finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. Shortly after the match begins, WWF owner Vince McMahon, Gerald Brisco, Pat Patterson and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter make their way to ringside to give Vince McMahon a ringside seat. Shortly after this, Mankind tries to run away, but Gerald Brisco and Pat Patterson try to get him back into the ring only for Austin to butt Patterson and Brisco's heads into Mankind's. Shane McMahon makes the count after Vince McMahon gets out of his wheelchair and drags the initial referee out of the match and attacks him, but stops after two and flips "Stone Cold" Steve Austin off. Brisco hits Austin with a steel chair, and Shane McMahon gets in the ring to give Mankind the victory. After the match, Vince McMahon, his stooges and Shane McMahon run to the back as Austin goes after them, and they all get into the limousine just before Austin can catch up with them. Austin steals a SUV and chases them out of the arena.

The Rock beats The Undertaker by disqualification to meet Mankind in the finals of the Deadly Games Tournament. During the match, THe Big Boss Man shows up, and The Rock hits The Undertaker with a low blow as referee Earl Hebner is distracted by Paul Bearer. As The Rock goes for the People's Elbow, The Big Boss Man grab his foot. The Undertaker knocks Big Boss Man off the apron, and is about to hit The Rock with the choke slam when Kane shows up and does the same. After the match, Earl Hebner is knocked out by The Undertaker before Kane and The Undertaker brawl their way into the crowd.

Michael Cole interviews Mankind, who says that Lady Luck is smiling down on him tonight, and that he has one more Rock to climb, "if you smell what The Sock is cooking."

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) and The Nation (D'Lo Brown and "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry). (With the Deadly Games tournament, the Women's Championship match and this match making up the entire card, this Survivor Series is the only one not to feature a Traditional Survivor Series match.)

The Rock beats Mankind to win the WWF Championship and the Deadly Games Tournament. Before the match begins, Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon - the former no longer sitting in a wheelchair - allow The Big Boss Man to take his leave, and tell him that they will personally deal with this last match. They eventually show up during the match and watch from ringside. After The Rock reverses the Mandible Claw into the Rock Bottom, he puts Mankind in the Sharpshooter. Vince and Shane both call for the bell, and it becomes evident that The Rock, Vince and Shane were all in it, betraying Mankind. After the match, Vince tells the crowd that seeing is believing, and that he didn't screw the people...the people screwed the people. He then says the fans are as stupid and gullible as Mankind, and says he will explain this in greater detail tomorrow night. He then states on behalf of the McMahon family that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was utterly, totally and royally screwed in this very ring, and if there is any one man who has more contempt for Austin than him, it is the man who detests the people, and that man is The Rock. Vince congratulates The Rock, and also congratulates Shane McMahon on his "Academy Award performance," then reminds the fans that he told his father Vince that he is just like him. The Rock then takes the microphone, and says it is time for every piece of trailer park trash to kiss his ass after he mentioned on Heat that he'd rather be "The People's Ass" than to kiss Vince ass. Mankind takes the microphone and says he is not sure what is going on around here, as The Rock did not pin him or make him submit. Vince tells Mankind he doesn't get it, and tells him to "get this." The Rock hits Mankind from behind with the WWF Championship - now with the "scratch logo" on it - before hitting him with a Rock Bottom. Shane then says the McMahon family is proud to present the new WWF Champion: "The Corporate Champion," The Rock. The Rock, Shane and Vince then celebrate in the ring. As they do, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin comes back and gets in the ring. Vince and Shane flee as Austin and The Rock brawl in the ring. Austin lays out The Rock with a Stone Cold Stunner before tossing him out. He then takes the WWF Championship and throws it at him, then hits Mankind with a Stone Cold Stunner before celebrating in the ring and stomping The Rock some more.
