Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 22, 1996

We get another "viewer discretion advised" notice from Sunny, who is now playing pool.

Vader beats Savio Vega in his Raw debut. After the match, Jim Cornette holds the referee back as Vader slams Vega and hits him with another Vader Bomb. When the referee finally tries to stop him, Vader headbutts him and tosses him out of the ring. Another referee gets in the ring, but Vader punches him in the face and power bombs him. Finally, Interim WWF President Gorilla Monsoon checks on the second referee, then confronts Vader. Gorilla then suspends Vader indefinitely, and Cornette has to stop Vader from going after Gorilla. He fails, and Vader confronts Gorilla again. Cornette tells Vader that he can't go off like that, but Vader goes after Gorilla a third time only to get a few knife edge chops from Gorilla. Cornette tries to stop Vader yet again. Vader pushes him aside, then hits Gorilla and the second referee with a corner splash before dragging Gorilla to the corner and hitting him with a Vader Bomb, injuring him. Razor Ramon and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels rush into the ring, force Vader to retreat and check on Gorilla with officials and police. Vader almost goes at it with Vince McMahon, too.

During the commercial break, the EMT crew took Gorilla out of the ring on a stretcher.

Jim Cornette has to beg Vader not to hurt him backstage. Vader says he is declaring war on every wrestler and official in the WWF, including Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler. Vader then destroys a trash can.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley beats Razor Ramon by count-out after The 1-2-3 Kid shows up and tries to put an oversized baby bottle into Razor's mouth as he is down, causing Razor to chase after him until the ten-count. Jerry "The King" Lawler reveals the lady accompanying Hunter Hearst Helmsley to the match - something we haven't seen from Helmsley before - as Shea Marks, whom he tries to interview during the match. During the match, The 1-2-3 Kid and "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase make fun of Razor Ramon, calling him a crybaby after his Intercontinental title match loss last night as a result of The Kid's interference, and saying that the best way to deal with a crying baby is to give it its bottle and change its diaper. The encore for Royal Rumble is advertised for tomorrow night on pay-per-view at 8 PM Eastern, 7 PM Central. After the match, Razor takes his anger out on Hunter Hearst Helmsley and almost hits him with the Razor's Edge, but Helmsley somehow manages to retreat along with Shea Marks.

We see the last episode of Billionaire Ted's Wrasslin' Warroom, where "Ted" calls buying old assets and repackaging them the thing he's best. But Ted is tired of stealing every idea from WWF and wants to come up with something original. "Scheme Gene" comes up with something, but he'll only talk about

We see Dok Hendrix rock out with the Raw Band before Vince McMahon interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels in the ring. After "The Vin Man" congratulates Shawn on his victory, Shawn says "I told you so" and that he is back in the saddle again. He calls the Royal Rumble the first in a three-step program, with the second and third steps being WrestleMania and the third being the WWF Championship. But he has something to take care of: Owen Hart, who wants to take all the credit for taking Shawn out. He tells Owen that nobody talks trash in the WWF except him. All of a sudden, Jim Cornette shows up and says that if Shawn wants Owen, he should just talk to him, but when Cornette says that Owen nearly took Shawn out, Vince reminds him that Shawn took Yokozuna and Vader out of the Royal Rumble. Cornette says there is no reason for Owen Hart to have another match with Shawn Michaels, but Michaels says he'll do anything to get that match. Cornette says that since Shawn will do anything, he'll get Owen if he puts his WWF Championship shot at WrestleMania 12 on the line. After asking "The Kliq" if they want Owen Hart and getting a positive response, Shawn Michaels says "What the Kliq wants, the Kliq gets," and then says when he's done with Owen Hart, he's going to do to him what he's going to do to Jim Cornette: toss him out of the ring over the top rope.

Next week on Raw: Diesel vs. The British Bulldog! "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. Yokozuna!

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart beats Goldust with the Sharpshooter, handing Goldust his first ever loss. We find out that woman who is now accompanying Goldust to the ring is named Marlena, and that her name is similar to the late German actress Marlena Dietrich. During the match, the next In Your House is announced for the night of February 18th, and that Interim WWF President Gorilla Monsoon has been taken to a local hospital. Also, Razor Ramon stops Goldust and Marlena from escaping. After the match, Vince McMahon interviews Bret Hart in the ring, who says that his fans were robbed of a decision last night by Diesel, and has finally had it with Diesel. He's glad their rematch is in a 15-foot-high steel cage, as Diesel will no longer have any excuses. As for The Undertaker, he tells him that he will get another rematch.

Next week: "Billionaire Ted" responds to questions about why he is trying to put WWF out of business!
