During the Free-For-All, Dok Hendrix interviews Jim Cornette and - for the very first time in WWF - Vader. Cornette is eagerly looking forward to guiding Vader's WWF career. Vader says that he's hear to cause pain and become the WWF Champion, and that the WWF is about to find out it's Vader Time.

During the Free-For-All, Todd Pettengill interviews Jake "The Snake" Roberts, who says that his snake is nothing compared to the inner demons that everyone will eventually have to face.

Before the next match, Todd Pettengill interviews Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who is cross with WWF Interim President Gorilla Monsoon for making him prove he's worthy of the #30 spot in the Royal Rumble match. He tells Duke "The Dumpster" Droese that this will be a sad day for him, as he will become #30 in the Rumble at go on to fight for the WWF Championship. Pettengill then interviews Droese, who says that there are no guaranteed victories in the WWF, and plans to be the last man walking into the Royal Rumble and the last man walking out of it.

Hunter Hearst Helmsely beats Duke "The Dumpster" Droese on the Free-For-All...almost. WWF Interim President Gorilla Monsoon shows up, having seen what happened, arrives and shows to the referee what Helmsley did: hit Droese with a a knuckle made out of tape. The referee reverses the decision, and Duke "The Dumpster" Droese wins by disqualification. As per the match stipulations, Helmsley will enter the match at #1 while Droese will enter at #30. After the match, Droese levels Helmsley with a clothesline.

Todd Pettengill interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, who says that the Heartbreak Kid comes in when he wants and leaves when he wants, and he won't leave unless he's the last man in the ring. As for how he's doing physically, Michaels says he's doing "excellent." When asked how he will approach his best friend Diesel in the Royal Rumble match, he knows it's every man for himself, but he has a destiny to fulfill and it starts tonight.

Dok Hendrix interviews Hunter Hearst Helmsley, who is irritated with the reversal of the decision, and says that he plans to stick WWF Interim President Gorilla Monsoon's decision in his face when he wins the Royal Rumble match.

We get a "viewer discretion advised" message from Sunny in a bathtub.

Ahmed Johnson beats "Double J" Jeff Jarrett after Jarrett hits Ahmed from the top rope with his guitar. It doesn't take long for Ahmed to get up and chase Jarrett to the back.

Todd Pettengill interviews Diesel, who says that he's about to have the time of his life with the Royal Rumble match. He knows he has some stiff competition, but is still confident of his chances. He also says he doesn't have a problem with the Undertaker, he just has a problem with the fact that The Undertaker got a shot at the WWF Championship before he did. did. He hopes The Undertaker and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart have a hell of a match.

The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip).

We see a compilation of Billionaire Ted's Wrasslin' War Room vignettes.

Goldust comes to the ring with a woman in a gold dress carrying a cigar in her hand before the match.

Goldust beats Razor Ramon to become the WWF Intercontinental Championship with the distraction from the woman in the gold dress and The 1-2-3 Kid attacking Razor Ramon behind the referee's back.

Dr. Michael Unger says "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is ready to get back in the ring, and is worried that his first match back is the Royal Rumble match. Nevertheless, he'll be watching from the sidelines to make sure everything goes okay. Owen Hart says he will be the next winner of the Rumble, and plans to end his career. Jake "The Snake" Roberts says everyone in the Rumble will get a taste of him, and that he might get a taste out of them. Jerry "The King" Lawler says it'll be won by royalty: him. Barry Horowitz says he's coming in an underdog and coming out the winner, and that anything can happen in the WWE. We then see Vader...who is standing next to Jim Cornette. Cornette's about to release the Mastodon. Meanwhile, Shawn Michaels says if that he can win the Rumble once, he can do it again, and even though this year is so much different from last year, he plans to make the WWF Championship dreams of a 12-year-old boy a destiny and a reality at WrestleMania 12. (Interestingly, he also calls his fans "The Kliq.")

Against all odds, Shawn Michaels wins the 1996 Royal Rumble, last eliminating Diesel with a super kick soon after Diesel eliminates Kama. With this victory, not only does Shawn Michaels go on to WrestleMania 12, he becomes the first man to win two Royal Rumbles and the first man to win two Royal Rumble matches in a row. An angry Diesel takes his vitriol out on The British Bulldog, then says the only reason why Michaels is allowed to live and breath is because he's letting him. Diesel then gets back in the ring and confronts Michaels, then almost reluctantly gives him a high five, but it's clear that Diesel is deeply disappointed as Shawn celebrates.

During the Rumble, Jerry "The King" Lawler almost throws Henry O. Godwinn's slop at Godwinn, but Godwinn kicks Lawler in the gut and takes the bucket back forcing Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Bob Backlund and Lawler to retreat out of the ring (but not over the top rope). Godwinn then tosses the slop right into the back of Lawler's head.

When Jake "The Snake" enters at #7, he shows up with the bag containing a huge snake to great audience reaction. Everyone else leaves the ring through the middle or bottom rope, and Jerry "The King" Lawler goes into hiding. He is later seen hiding underneath the ring.

When The 1-2-3 Kid enters the Royal Rumble match, he is seen running away from Razor Ramon, who is chasing after him and has to be kept out of the match. He is eventually removed by officials.

Vader makes his WWF debut at #13, accompanied by Jim Cornette. Not long after his entrance, he takes Jake "The Snake" Roberts out of the Rumble with one punch.

The Squat Team (Squat Teamer I and Squat Teamer II) are better known as The Headhunters. It doesn't take long for Squat Teamer I to be tossed out by Vader, but as he leaves, his twin brother, Squat Teamer II, shows up. Both of them step into the ring despite the first one being eliminated, sending officials in a tizzy. Yokozuna and Vader quickly eliminate both of them as soon as they team up.

When "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels makes it to the ring, he starts off by eliminating Yokozuna and Vader simultaneously, then both figuratively and literally slams The 1-2-3 Kid over the top rope. Vader then attacks Yokozuna from behind and tires to get back in the ring and takes his anger out on Shawn, then tosses Shawn and Owen hart over the top rope before tossing everyone else out. Officals show up along with Gorilla Monsoon, who tells Vader to get out. Because Vader is already eliminated, everyone he tossed over the top rope is still in the match.

Shortly after the Vader debacle, "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is tossed out of the ring, but not over the top rope. He gets under the ring and finally gets Jerry "The King" Lawler out of hiding. He quickly eliminates him just before Diesel arrives.

The British Bulldog and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels briefly take their fight to the outside of the ring without being eliminated. As they do, Owen Hart returns and gets some shots in on Michaels. All the while, Bulldog's wife Diana Hart Smith is seen

Diesel confronts The Undertaker before the next match, and shoves Paul Bearer to the ground. Diesel fights The Undertaker, but The Undertaker strikes first. Officials break up the brawl, but not before Diesel can get some hits in of his own, and tells Diesel and The Undertaker "I ain't afraid of the dark." Also, it is noticed that Paul Bearer now has the urn in his possession again.

The Undertaker beats Bret Hart by disqualification after Diesel drags the ref out of the ring after The Undertaker hits Bret "The Hit Man" Hart hits the Tombstone. Even those Bret Hart has lost by disqualification, he retains the WWF Championship. Diesel then gives The Undertaker the middle finger, then leaves. The Undertaker slowly goes after him. During the match, Bret Hart removed The Undertaker's mask, and rammed his face into a turnbuckle he exposed behind the referee's back a few times.

Todd Pettengill interviews Gorilla Monsoon for Royal Rumble Plus. Monsoon sanctions a WWF Championship rematch between Bret "The Hit Man" Hart and Diesel for the next In Your House in February.

Dok Hendrix interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels for Royal Rumble Plus. Shawn says he's completed "Phase 1," and now he's heading to WrestleMania 12 to become the next WWF Champion. As for the possibility of facing Diesel after In Your House, he still has respect for him.

We go back to Todd Pettengill and Gorilla Monsoon. Monsoon says that whoever wins at In Your House, "The Heartbreak Kid" will get his shot at the WWF Champion, and declares that Shawn is back, and back at 100%. Suddenly, The Undertaker shows up and tells Gorilla Monsoon that it will be a cold day in Hell before Diesel wears the WWF Championship again. Gorilla Monsoon makes a match between Diesel and The Undertaker for In Your House right then and there...and it will be a steel cage match.

Dok Hendrix interviews Diesel for Royal Rumble Plus. After telling Gorilla he's done one hell of ajob at he says that Bret "The Hit Man" Hart is allowed to live and breathe because he allows it, and that he's the best thing going today. As for The Undertaker and the steel cage match, he tells 'Taker he's not scared of the dark and that he will get the job done against him. He has nothing against "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels winning the Royal Rumble match, and says that in 1996, the World Wrestling Federation will be the Diesel Federation, and that this is still his show and it's still running on Diesel power.

Todd Pettengill interviews Jim Cornette for Royal Rumble Plus as Vader is in a rage where he throws steel chairs around. Cornette calls Vader the real winner of the Royal Rumble match, and says that Vader is the most dangerous power unleashed on the WWF and that Vader won't be ignored, stopped, defeated or overlooked as it will be Vader Time until the end of time.
