Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for January 1, 1996

It is announced that Hulk Hogan is off suspension, and will be facing "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship later tonight.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage beats "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson after Savage accidentally pushes Anderson into the ref, then pulls out a tape wrap out of his tights only for Savage to hit him, uses it against him and put it back in his trunks after he's done. During the match, commentary spoils that The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) have won the Raw Bowl match ahead of time. After the match, Flyin' Brian and Chris Benoit rush into the ring, trying to tell the ref what happened, but there's nothing that the ref can do.

"Lord" Steven Regal beats Chris Benoit after Benoit misses a slingshot cross body over the top rope and lands hard outside of the ring. Hank Aaron is seen enjoying the show in the audience during the match.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Chris Benoit, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Flyin' Brian. Brian is disgusted with Benoit and Anderson's performance, but Benoit says that the only way to beat him is through pure luck, and says "Lord" Steven Regal had that going for him tonight. Anderson tells Brian to stop setting fires that The Four Horsemen can't fight. He says that "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff went too far, but there's no reason to go after The Dungeon of Doom, and they they either survive or perish as a team. The Dungeon of Doom (The Taskmaster, Jimmy Hart, The Giant, The Zodiac) almost storm the ring after Flyin' Brian calling them "The Dungeon of Misfit Toys," but The Giant and Jimmy Hart are there to keep everyone else from storming the ring to go after Flyin' Brian.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Flyin' Brian! Lex Luger vs. The Cobra!

Sting and Lex Luger beat The Super Assassins with a Torture Rack on the legal man while Sting puts the other in the Scorpion Death Lock. During the match, Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman asks Steve "Mongo" McMichael to become his manager. McMichael declines, but tells him to systematically destroy his opponents just like he was taught in the Marine Corps, and that if he can do that, all he needs is himself.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart and The Giant. He said that Hulk Hogan taught him to keep close to his enemies, and to learn to switch gears anytime, anyplace, and anywhere as you'll never know who he'll manage. The Giant is still sore about hitting him with a steel chair weeks ago, saying it hurt him physically, mentally and spiritually, and that Hulk Hogan will get what is coming to him.

Hulk Hogan beats The Nature Boy" Ric Flair by disqualification when The Four Horsemen ("The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Flyin' Brian, Chris Benoit) interfere. However, Anderson still has the tape wrap in his tights. Hogan shows the wrap to the ref, who ends the match. The Giant shows up with a wooden barstool, but "Macho Man" Randy Savage rushes in to stop The Giant with a wooden barstool of his own. The Zodiac and The Taskmaster have to hold The Giant back afterwards.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. One person's business is now the others, and Hulk Hogan challenges "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson to a tag team match against him and Savage. Savage says he still has unfinished business with Anderson, and that if they have the guts, they'd accept the challenge and that they have secret weapons nobody's ever thought of. Hulk says he'll have to take down Flair and Anderson in order to get rid of The Giant. Savage says that problems will be solved next week.
