Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 2, 2017

General Manager Mick Foley starts tonight's Raw. After mentioning some New Year's resolutions and mentioning the WWE Univeral Title match between Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble, Jeri-KO (Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens) show up. Jeri-KO says that Foley has a vendetta against them as Owens questions Foley's sense of humor over hanging Jericho in the air in a shark cage like a "sexy pinata" (in Jericho's words), and Jericho makes fun of Foley's new haircut. Owens then complains about Roman Reigns getting another shot at the WWE Universal Championship, and Jericho complains about Seth Rollins Pedigreeing him on top of a car as well as the shark cage. Foley then debuts The Kevin Owens Show as a segment, with Goldberg as Owens' first guest. Owens calls this an abuse of power, but Commissioner Stephanie McMahon shows up and defends Foley, then makes another match: Roman Reigns vs. Chris Jericho. If Roman is counted out of disqualified, Jericho is the new WWE United States Champion. Jericho wants Seth Rollins banned from ringside, and Stephanie makes another match for Owens, this one against Rollins, and if Owens wins, Rollins will be banned from ringside for Roman Reigns vs. Chris Jericho. If Rollins wins, however, Kevin Owens will be banned from ringside. Stephanie then tells everyone else in the ring to get their act together, and tells Owens that his match against Rollins is up next.

Seth Rollins beats Kevin Owens by disqualification after Owens uses the ring bell as a weapon. As per pre-match stipulation, Owens is banned from ringside during Chris Jericho vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE United States Championship. Rollins goes for the Pedigree on Owens after the match, but Owens escapes the move and rolls out of the ring.

Sheamus guests on commentary for the next match.

Karl Anderson beats Cesaro after Luke Gallows shakes the ropes to stop a Cesaro superplex, allowing Anderson to hit a top rope neckbreaker for the win.

Members of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are seen in the front row.

Braun Strowman beats Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing match. General Manager Mick Foley shows up with an EMT, who places Sami Zayn on a stretcher. Strowman topples the stretcher and attacks Sami Zayn again before leaving.

"The Extraordinary Gentleman" Jack Gallagher and The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) practice fighting with umbrellas in the locker room.

Bring It To The Table debuts on the WWE Network immediately after Raw tonight!

Before the next match, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) admits that 2016 was a great year for them despite its up and downs, and announce they will be in the 2017 Royal Rumble match. They are about to bring up some New Year's resolutions when Titus O'Neil interrupts them by making fun of their intro, and tells them that if they want to meet hteir 2017 goals, they need a new member in The New Day. Titus tries to kiss up to The New Day, but Xavier Woods isn't interested. Titus calls Woods the weakest link in The New Day, and Woods tells Titus he can prove how weak this link can be before challenging him to a match. Titus responds by punching Woods in the face before accepting the challenge.

Xavier Woods beats Titus O'Neil.

Bayley meets Commissioner Stephanie McMahon backstage, and it becomes obvious that Stephanie McMahon cannot see in Bayley what General Manager Mick Foley saw in her. Nevertheless, Bayley says she is who she is, and she's okay with it. Stephanie says she's almost convinced that Bayley has something and decides to give her a chance by placing her in a #1 contender's match for the Raw Women's title...against Nia Jax.

Cedric Alexander and Alicia Fox run into Noam Dar backstage. Noam Dar almost apologizes to Alicia Fox, but calls her "sweet cheeks."

Drew Gulak beats Cedric Alexander after Alicia Fox pulls Tony Nese off the apron, distracting Alexander and allowing Gulak to grab the tights on a schoolboy pin.

Roman Reigns retains the WWE United States Championship against Chris Jericho when Jericho's plan to get Roman Reigns disqualified on purpose fails. (As per pre-match stipulation, the title was able to change hands by disqualification or count-out.)

TJ Perkins beats Brian Kendrick with the knee bar. Neville is seen watching the match from the back after the match.

Rusev and Jinder Mahal beat Big Cass in a 2-on-1 handicap match.

Tomorrow night on 205 Live: TJ Perkins vs. Neville!

Charlotte - now going by the name Charlotte Flair - guests on commentary for the next match.

Bayley beats Nia Jax with a Bayley-To-Belly from the top rope to become #1 contender for the WWE Raw Women's Championship after Sasha Banks distracts Nia Jax.

The Undertaker and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels return to Raw next week!

It's time for The Kevin Owens Show with special guest Goldberg...actually, it's Chris Jericho, who puts the entire city on The List for expecting Goldberg to be the special guest tonight. Jericho then announces that he is in the Royal Rumble match, which Owens isn't okay with as he doesn't want to fight his best friend. As they speak, Goldberg shows up. Goldberg tells Jericho "You're first!" He then takes off his jacket and throws all the chairs out of the ring, and when Jericho threatens to put Goldberg on The List by asking him what happens when he tosses furniture around, Goldberg says a Spear and a Jackhammer is what happens. Owens responds by tossing out the rest of the furniture in the ring, and Goldberg dares Owens to take a shot at him. As Goldberg and Owens stare down, Paul Heyman shows up - without Brock Lesnar - and announces that Lesnar will eliminate everyone else in the Royal Rumble match. Goldberg tells Heyman he'll do the same, then tells Owens that they have a date at WrestleMania. Roman Reigns shows up and immediately wants a piece of Goldberg, and both Roman and Goldberg stare down. As they do, Braun Strowman shows up and says that if anyone is winning the Royal Rumble match, it's him. Strowman gets in the ring as Roman and Goldberg continue to stare down, then Roman and Goldberg hit a double Spear on Strowman to end the show.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
