Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 16, 2017

Tonight's episode is dedicated to WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, who passed away yesterday at the age of 73.

WWE pays tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.

Roman Reigns shows up to start tonight's show. He can't complain about being outnumbered, because The Shield did it all the time. However, he says Kevin Owens will be complaining since he won't have backup when he defends the WWE Universal Championship at Royal Rumble. Paul Heyman shows up and announces that Brock Lesnar is in the building tonight - and that Goldberg is not - and that Lesnar will go all the way in the Rumble. After Roman says Lesnar must be sleeping because he's not here with Heyman, Jeri-KO (Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens) show up and brag about the fact that they're both "the US-Universal champ." Jericho says that he will win the Rumble, take on Owens for the Universal title, and have a match where everyone wins regardless. Owens says that Jericho's dream match may not check out, but he will still be the Universal Champion after Royal Rumble. Seth Rollins shows up and says he will win the Rumble to get back in the main event picture. Suddenly, Braun Strowman shows up, but before he can do much of anything, Lesnar finally arrives. As he makes his way to the ring, Strowman is suddenly attacked from behind by Sami Zayn, which starts a brawl which ends with Lesnar suplexing Sami Zayn, staring down Braun Strowman and hitting an F5 on Roman Reigns after Roman attacks everyone else.

Enzo Amore - now back from injury - and Big Cass beat Rusev and Jinder Mahal.

We look back at the extreme career of Lita, courtesy of the new movie XXX: Return of Xander Cage.

"The Extraordinary Gentleman" Jack Gallagher guests on commentary for the next match.

Ariya Daivari beats Lince Dorado by submission.

We see footage from earlier today, where Sasha Banks is getting her knee evaluated in the ring when she is assaulted from behind by Nia Jax, who tries to re-injure her knee.

Gallows & Anderson (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) beat Sheamus and Cesaro, but do not win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships and instead win by disqualification after Sheamus accidentally knocks out referee John Cone. Sheamus and Cesaro retain the tag team titles, and Gallows & Anderson take their anger out on Sheamus immediately afterwards with a Magic Killer.

WWE pays tribute and says goodbye to WWE Hall of Famer "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka.

Sami Zayn talks strategy with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, but Seth and Roman make it clear to an overenthusiastic Sami that they know what they're up against.

Tony Nese vs. Rich Swann ends before it begins when Swann is attacked by Neville. Swann fights back, but he is attacked by Tony Nese, and when Neville tells Tony Nese to back up, he goes right on hitting Swann, which causes Neville to toss him out before he hits Swann with a swift kick.

Neville says he is far from a bad guy, and calls everyone in America hypocrites. He says he will break Rich Swann at Royal Rumble, then take the Cruiserweight title as he bows down to the true king of the Cruiserweights.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) show up. They talk about the Royal Rumble match before announcing they are entering the Rumble. Kofi comes to the realization that they will be pitted against each other, but then realize that if one of them wins, they all win. Titus O'Neil shows up, says he doesn't even want to be in The New Day and instead wants to replace them by facing and beating one of them for one of their Royal Rumble match slots. Big E accepts the challenge.

Big E beats Titus O'Neil to keep his spot in the Royal Rumble match.

Charlotte Flair shows up. She says she didn't become the pay-per-view queen overnight; she did it by outworking her opponents inside and out. She says that Bayley resonates with the fans because she is a fan just like them, and we see pictures of Bayley with John Cena, Ivory, Rob Van Dam and Bret Hart. She then makes fun of her childhood poems, saying that when Bayley was busy writing, she was winning at sports. We see Bayley reading one of her own essays on the TitanTron, and Charlotte makes fun of that as well by calling it "a pile of indie dreams." Bayley, finally having had enough, gets in the ring as Charlotte gets out, and Bayley tells her this isn't necessary. Charlotte calls Bayley "an average fan," but Bayley tells her that her "winning strategy" isn't working. She tells Charlotte that she's not embarassed, and that while her dad wasn't "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, she supported her on her road to WWE and got her a ticket to every show even if it meant she had to sit in the back corner where you can't even see the monitor and everyone looks like ants. She then spits a few poems Charlotte's way, telling her she will beat her for the Raw Women's title at Royal Rumble.

Backstage, Braun Strowman meets with Jeri-KO (Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens), who say that the three of them together are unstoppable against Sami Zayn, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Strowman reminds them that he is a lone wolf and that he will destroy everyone in the Royal Rumble match, but tonight, he will make Sami, Roman and Seth scream for their lives.

Cedric Alexander beats Brian Kendrick after Alicia Fox shows up to try to help Cedric Alexander. Alexander and Alicia appear to make up when Alexander ducks under Alicia on the way out of the ring.

Nia Jax calls Sasha Banks a wanna-be tough girl, and that the aura around her is gone and people will see the truth. She says that Sasha knew that her hype was gone, and that people are now talking about "the right woman."

Alicia Fox says her her problems concerning Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar are of nobody's concern.

Kurt Angle is the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

Goldberg returns to Raw next week!

Braun Strowman and Jeri-KO (Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens) beat Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Strowman carries Sami Zayn to the commentary table, but Seth attacks Strowman with a steel chair and Roman hits Strowman with the spear. Seth and Roman break down the commentary table, but they are attacked by Jeri-KO. Seth and Roman brawl with Jeri-KO, but Jeri-KO comes out on top and Owens hits Roman with a powerbomb through the commentary table.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
