Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 22, 2013

Brad Maddox is here! Daniel Bryan and John Cena will have a contract signing for their match tonight. Maddox brings out Cena, then asks "Why Daniel Bryan?" It's simple...because Madox let him choose, and the WWE Universe has spoken! Daniel Bryan shows up as Maddox mentions alternate speculations, and Cena says he knows D-Bry is full of god-given talent. He also says Bryan both earned and deserved this title shot. Maddox still has his doubts, and wants Bryan to prove himself further in matches. Not a match. Matches.

Thanks to Sheamus' leg injury from Money In The Bank, Sheamus' White Noise became a successful pin attempt for Alberto Del Rio.

Renee Young interviews Booker T and Teddy Long...but both men start arguing.

Christian beats Titus O'Neil.

Josh Mathews interviews Ryback...who is in the mood to intimidate anyone who is less than his equal.

"The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry shows up. He's a proud Texan...but he's not proud of the beating The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) gave him last week...so he calls them out again to see if he can press his luck a little further. Once again, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) show up and help him clean house.

John Cena and Daniel Bryan talk in the back. Bryan's ready to rumble, and wants Cena to stay out of his matches so that his compliments mean something.

Dolph Ziggler beats Darren Young. Afterwards, AJ Lee rushes out with Big E Langston, who goes after Ziggler, but Ziggler outspeeds E before he can do any real damage.

It's Miz TV time! The Miz announces he'll be the host of SummerSlam, then introduces the Divas of Total Divas: The Bellas (Brie and Nikki Bella), The Funkadactyls (Cameron and Naomi), Eva Marie, Jojo and Natalya. After we see a new preview clip, Miz invites Jerry Lawler to the ring...who then gets slapped by Eva Marie, causing him to leave.

Damien Sandow guests on commentary for the next match.

Cody Rhodes beats Fandango...and outsmarts Damien Sandow.

Brad Maddox meets Triple H, who tells Maddox that he's underestimating Daniel Bryan too much, and that Bryan will beat back anything thrown at him. Stephanie McMahon also shows up and tells Maddox she has an idea for him.

CM Punk shows up and reminds us of what Brock Lesnar did to him last week. He's still standing, though, and says Lesnar's biggest weapon in his aresnal is fear. Punk is not afraid of Lesnar. As for Heyman, Punk will make him regret his recent decisions. Punk then wants Brock at SummerSlam. Heyman shows up on the TitanTron, and his prescence via satellite alone incenses Punk. Heyman bashes Texas, then considers Punk to be either a coward or a fool. Heyman then accepts Punk's challenge, but says that it's not "The Best vs. The Beast" because the best is the beast.

Rob Van Dam will take on Alberto Del Rio on SmackDown this Friday!

Rob Van Dam beats Wade Barrett.

Daniel Bryan beats Jack Swagger with the No Lock...but then finds he has to face Antonio Cesaro as part of a gauntlet.

Daniel Bryan beats Antonio Cesaro in a hard-fought match that is well received by the crowd. But Brad Maddox has one last ace up his sleeve...

The third opponent? Ryback.

Ryback disqualifies himself after putting Daniel Bryan through a table. John Cena rushes in and beats up Ryback before the latter can do any more damage to D-Bry, then dares him to do the same thing to him in a tables match next week. Meanwhile, Vince McMahon gets with Brad Maddox, who tells him to put Daniel Bryan against somebody bigger than him...Kane.
