Raw Deal - Raw recap from July 5, 1999

RAW

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up to start tonight's show. He asks the crowd to give him a "hell yeah" if they saw him beat The Undertaker's ass last week. He says it wasn't a pretty sight, but it got the job done. He then tells WWF co-owner Vince McMahon that he crumpled up his "master plan" and shoved it up his ass. He then tells The Undertaker that he is not a hard man to find, and accepts his challenge to a First Blood Match for the WWF Championship at Fully Loaded, given that the last time he was in one, The Undertaker was the one to bust him open and cost him the WWF title, payback is a bitch, and that's all he has to say about that. Vince McMahon says that's not all Austin has to say about that, as he has something to say about that. Vince says that the WWF isn't big enough for the both of them, and one of them - Austin or himself - has to go for good. Vince proposes a challenge. He is so confident The Undertaker will beat Austin at Fully Loaded that he is willing to put in writing that he will never again - directly or indirectly - interfere, compromise or have anything to do with Austin in the WWF ever again. He does not even care if Austin's attorneys even write up the contract Austin likes the idea, and Vince asks Austin to agree - in writing - that if and when The Undertaker wins, he will not ask for a rematch or ever attempt to become WWF Champion ever again. Vince says he is willing to take this risk - which he says is not that much of a risk - because if Austin agrees, the thought of Austin representing the World Wrestling Federation as WWF Champion makes him wretch with emotional trauma and makes his want to vomit. If Austin decides to accept the challenge, then this will be the end of an era one way or another, and if Austin wins, he and the fans will never see Vince McMahon again. Austin asks the crowd to give him a "hell yeah" if they want to see Vince gone, than says he accepts the challenge and says it won't be the end of an era; it'll just be the end of Vince.

Michael Cole interviews The Rock, who will be facing Triple H in a steel cage tonight. The Rock asks Michael Cole to wear his new "Smackdown Hotel" T-shirt before they start the interview, and by wear it, he means "have it cover his head so he doesn't see him." The Rock tells Triple H that he talks about his dreams and aspirations of becoming WWF Champions, and says he will lay the smack down on his candy ass and on ten others who look like him before he lets that happen. The Rock says he is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment, he emits electricity and is electrifying on genetic 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year (including leap year). He also addresses "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn, saying he is a nobody compared to him. Tonight, he will do what he does best and lay the smack down on Triple H's roody poo candy ass.

Before the next match, Bradshaw is told by an EMT that he is not medically cleared and that he cannot allow him to compete tonight. When he tries to stop Bradshaw, Bradshaw knocks him out with a hard right.

The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) beat The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) to become the WWF Tag Team Champions after Jeff Hardy smashes Michael Hayes' walking stick into Bradshaw's head and Matt Hardy hits a Tornado DDT from the top rope on Faarooq.

Terry Taylor interviews The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) and Michael Hayes. Matt says he has always dreamed what it would be feel like to be a tag team champion, and says there are no words. As he speaks, the transmission cuts in and out. We then see GTV footage of Droz and Prince Albert dressing like women. Albert notices that Droz has glitter all over him and that he has shaved his legs, and questions if Droz actually likes this. Droz says he doesn't want any hairs poking out and says that wearing women's clothes feels "kinda good" and that he looks "kinda sexy." He and Albert then leave the room.

Before the next match, The Godfather asks Val Venis to join him and his hos. (One of the two hos that accompanies The Godfather to this match is future Women's Champion and Hall of Famer Lita.) He then introduces the two newest members of his Ho Train: Droz and Prince Albert, who are in dresses and heels. Gangrel attacks The Godfather from behind, starting their match.

The Godfather beats Gangrel. After the match, Droz and Prince Albert attack Val Venis, while Gangrel hits The Godfather with a DDT before joining Droz and Albert. Edge and Christian run in to confront Gangrel and force him to the back as referees try to restore order at ringside.

Backstage, WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon tells Test she is concerned about him, and Test tells her not to worry.

Test vs. Joey Abs (the as-of-until-now unknown third man in The Mean Street Posse) is thrown out. During the match, WWF co-owner Shane comes out holding his sister, WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon hostage, and Rodney and Pete Gas attack Test from behind. The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas, Joey Abs) hold down Test and gang up on him, and Shane forces Stephanie to watch. Stephanie checks on Test after the match.

Chyna and Triple H talk to local law enforcement outside of the arena, and it appears that their car has been vandalized with the words "Break It Down" and a "DX" logo in black spray paint. Chyna tells the cops that she walked outside to find out her car was vandalized and that X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James are the culprits as she saw them do the deed and run away.

Before the next match, D'Lo Brown says he is not the one to mess with, and if Al Snow wants to challenge him to a hardcore match, he will beat the crap out of him. Al Snow comes up from behind and hits him with an aluminum cooking tray.

Al Snow retains the WWF Hardcore Championship against D'Lo Brown after using a lift to give himself some height to splash D'Lo through a table backstage. During the match, Mideon shows up and topples a few tables on D'Lo. After the match, Mideon - who is wearing the European Championship - walks by and laughs at D'Lo.

Local law enforcement ask Sgt. Slaughter, Tony Garea and ring announcer Howard Finkel where X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Jesse James are. Finkel tells them to check the locker room.

WAR ZONE

"Road Dogg" Jesse James vs. Val Venis ends with the police - who show up with a handcuffed X-Pac - arresting Road Dogg for vandalizing Chyna's car. Chyna and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn are seen watching this on a monitor from the locker room. Gunn says this is justice, and Chyna says that if Road Dogg and X-Pac want to play dirty, this is what they will get. Road Dogg and X-Pac are placed in the back of a police car as Jeff Jarrett and Chaz enter the ring for the next match.

Jeff Jarrett retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Chaz as Debra and Marianna argue at ringside, which ends up distracting Chaz. After the match, Jarrett attacks Chaz while Debra and Marianna argue again, and Thrasher - Chaz's partner in The Headbangers, who is now wearing black denim jeans and a "Raw Is War" T-shirt - gets into the ring, grabs Jarrett's guitar and swings it at him, forcing Jarrett and Debra to retreat.

Michael Cole reports that we will hear from Triple H and Chyna after the next match.

Edge beats The Big Boss Man, then Boss Man attacks Edge with his nightstick after the match before handcuffing him to the top rope and hitting him with the nightstick some more. Boss Man pulls out the handcuff key to tease Edge and punches out referee Jimmy Korderas, then Christian runs in and tries to unlock the handcuffs after briefly fighting Boss Man off only to be handcuffed himself. Edge and Christian both get smacked with the nightstick.

Michael Cole interviews Triple H and Chyna. Chyna says that X-Pac and "Road Dogg" Triple H vandalized her personal property and belongings, violating her. She intends to file full charges on X-Pac and Road Dogg, and says this is exactly why she never wanted to be associated with them. Triple H says beating the living hell out of The Rock will get him nowhere, and wants to be the WWF Champion. Come hell or high water, he does not care what he has to go through to get there.

"Bad Ass" Billy Gunn beats Meat. After the match, Jacqueline confronts Billy Gunn only to be assaulted from behind by Chyna. After Gunn hits Meat with a DDT, Chyna reaches into a bag and pulls out two can of black spray paint. After spray painting Terri Runnels' underwear, Meat is laid on top of Jacqueline while Gunn and Chyna spray paint "DX" on them and the ring.

Kane beats Big Show and Hardcore Holly in a handicap match. During the match, The Undertaker shows up with Paul Bearer, and distracts Big Show. Kane wins the match after choke slamming Hardcore Holly, then Kane hits Big Show from behind with a chop block. The Undertaker and Kane then work together and continue to attack Big Show, and go so far as to hit Big Show with a double-team vertical suplex. Kane leaves, then Paul Bearer hands The Undertaker a steel cage. Kane watches from the ramp as The Undertaker hits Big Show in the head with the steel chair and busts him open, then heads towards the back.

The Rock beats Triple H in a Steel Cage Match. During the match, Chyna hands Triple H some handcuffs, and Triple H to handcuff The Rock to the steel cage wall. When that does not work and The Rock tries to get out, Chyna rams referee Tim White's head into the cage door before dragging Triple H out. The Rock follows Triple H and Chyna out of the ring, and The Rock and Triple H brawl at ringside while Chyna tries to revive referee Tim White. Triple H and The Rock take the match back into the ring before referee Tim White is able to come to. Chyna hands Triple H a steel chair to blast The Rock with as he and The Rock are at the top of the cage, but when Triple H goes back down to get to the door, he slips and gets tied up on the rope. Triple H is freed and makes his way to the door, but The Rock climbs down from the top of the cage before Triple H can leave through the door and The Rock wins the match. After the match, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn shows up and hits The Rock with a Fameasser before continuing to attack him as the show ends.
