Nitro-Glyercin - Monday Nitro recap for July 19, 1999

Scott Hudson temporarily replaces Tony Schiavone on commentary (this goes on from this week until August 2).

Sid Vicious shows up. He says he can tell by the cheers (or in this case, boos) of the fans that they feel the same anticipation that is running through his blood, because Hollywood Hogan has something that belongs to him. When Hogan enters the ring against him tonight, he had better realize that he has open arms for him just like the "miserable pukes" in the crowd does. He says the fans can scream "Hogan" at the top of their lungs, but it will do them no good for when it is over, Hogan will be standing in the middle of the ring, looking at him and telling him he is the master and the ruler of the world.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

Before the next match, Jimmy Hart shows up on the video screen with the Junkyard Harcore Invitational trophy. He tells Finley that if he wants the trophy, all he has to do is come to Road Wild. He then tells him that Jerry Flynn is coming down the aisle.

Jerry Flynn vs. Fit Finley ends in a no-contest after Finley runs to the outside of the arena when he figures out where Jimmy Hart is at. During the match, Jimmy Hart is on the video screen, cheering Flynn on and taunting Finley. Finley has the match won when Finley realizes that Jimmy Hart is outside of the arena. He runs out after him, but he is attacked by The First Family (Flynn, Meng, Hugh Morrus, Brian Knobbs).

WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon is seen talking to Lodi and Lenny Lane, who asks them to sign their contracts - which are about to be renewed in the proper way, as he says that he knows their brothers. Lodi and Lenny Lane's secret that they are gay is safe...for now. Whether or not they are able to get a raise is another matter.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hollywood Hogan. Last week, when he beat "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, his life turned around. When he was laid out for 90 days and soul searching, he did not know how he would handle the professional wrestling world, but when he beat Savage, he knew it was time to turn his life around. He says that this is not the first time around the block for him, and he knew that the big dogs would all come after him when he won the World title. He welcomes Sid Vicious' challenge, but says Sid has one part of the equation wrong. He says that Sid will be at his feet, saying he is the man and the champion, and that he rules the world of wrestling. Hogan says he has his focus, his mind, body, spirit and soul ready for Road Wild. He says Kevin Nash has a chip on his shoulder, and after he beats Sid Vicious tonight, he will be aiming his guns at Nash, because he is the man and the champion and this is strictly business.

The WCW Hotline is plugged, with results from tonight's Nitro available on Option 3.

Norman Smiley beats Lodi in his first match in months with a La Magistral Cradle. After the match, Lenny Lane and Lodi do the Big Wiggle together, completely unperturbed by Lodi's loss.

Eric Bischoff guests on commentary for the next match.

Sting hits referee Charles Robinson with the Scorpion Death Drop before the next match can begin. Robinson is replaced by Mickey Jay as he is tossed out - both figuratively and literally - by Sting.

Sting beats "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair to take control of World Championship Wrestling. During the match, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson drags referee Mickey Jay out of the ring. Sting attacks Anderson at ringside, bu he is soon assaulted from behind by Sid Vicious, who then places Sting back in the ring. After Sid leaves, Flair readies Sting for the Figure Four Leg Lock and locks it in. Sting's shoulders are on the mat in the hold, but he raises the shoulder up and quickly reverses it. Later on, Sting inadvertently takes out Mickey Jay with a Stinger Splash. He knocks Anderson off the apron, then hits Asya with a Stinger Splash when she tries to get involved in the match. Sting then puts Flair in the Scorpion Death Lock, but Mickey Jay is still down. Eric Bischoff leaves the commentary table and replaces Mickey Jay as the referee, and Flair gives up. After the match, Sid Vicious comes back and attacks both Sting and Bischoff from behind before putting Bischoff in a power bomb. Hollywood Hogan then shows up, and Sid Vicious gets out of the ring.

Rick Steiner retains the WCW World Television Championship. During the match, Horace hits Rick Steiner with a steel chair behind the referee's back, then tosses both the chair and Rick Steiner back into the ring. As referee Randy Anderson confronts Rick about the chair, Horace is attacked from behind by Kevin Nash. Rick Steiner then hits the top rope bulldog for the win. After the match, Kevin Nash and Rick Steiner fist bump each other, Hollywood Hogan shows up to check on Horace and wants to know why Kevin Nash is making this personal when he said that their match for the World title is strictly business. Nash says he lied, saying that it is still business, but this time, it is really personal.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Eddie Guerrero beats Psychosis. After the match, Villano V gets in the ring, followed by La Parka. They both attack Eddie for embarassing them last week by making them take their masks off, then Rey Mysterio Jr. shows up and hits Psychosis with a missle drop kick off the top rope as he clears the ring. Rey and Eddie suddenly run into each other, and Eddie then puts his hand out. Both men shake hands and make amends.

Stevie Ray wants to know what is going on as he talks with Vincent and Brian Adams. He is tired of The Jersey Triad (Diamond Dallas Page, Bam Bam Bigelow, Kanyon) after what they did to Booker T, and asks Vincent and Brian Adams to watch his back. Brian Adam asks if Stevie Ray is still nWo black-and-white or if Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) is back together. Stevie asks them to team up for now, and then he will answer their questions later.

The Jersey Triad (Diamond Dallas Page, Bam Bam Bigelow, Kanyon) show up. Before the next match, Kanyon says nobody is better than him, especially Booker T. DDP says that if Stevie Ray wants to get in their business, then now is the time for him to get his big, fat Cheez Whiz sucking butt out to the ring. Kanyon then says Stevie Ray's mom is so fat that the other day she tried to wear a shirt with a big X on it and a helicopter tried to land on her, and that every time she turns around, it was her birthday. When Stevie Ray shows up, he says that it will only take one of them to beat him.

Stevie Ray beats Kanyon after Diamond Dallas Page and Bam Bam Bigelow's interference fails miserably. After the match, DDP and Bigelow take the boots to Stevie Ray before Kanyon hits Stevie with the Flatliner. DDP is about to duct tape Stevie Ray's wrists to the bottom rope when Booker T rushes into the ring and makes the save for Stevie Ray. The Jersey Traid retreat as Booker T dares them to get in the ring.

We see a video package for Team Madness ("Macho Man" Randy Savage, Sid Vicious, Madusa, Gorgeous, Miss Madness).

Robert Wuhl, the star of HBO original series Arliss, announces that WCW Superstars will be guest starring on Arliss this Sunday night at 9:30 PM Eastern, 8:30 PM Central on HBO. He then guests on commentary for the next match. Before the next match, he stays in character as John Arliss and announces that he will be representing NBA basketball star Dennis Rodman, who has been announced earlier in the night to return to World Championship Wrestling tonight.

Team Madness ("Macho Man" Randy Savage, Sid Vicious, Madusa, Miss Madness, Gorgeous George) shows up. Savage says that last week, Kevin Nash stole his WCW World Heavyweight Championship and that Nash is a dead man. He then says he has only one thing to say to Hollywood Hogan. He says he is a candidate for the President of the United States in the year 2000, and if that is not enough, he wants Kidman to walk the aisle, as he is not ready for the madness.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage beats Kidman. At one point in the match, Savage uses Gorgeous George as a human shield at ringside, and Miss Madness hits a hesitant Kidman in the back with a drop kick. Miss Madness almost does it again - this time in the ring and off the top rope as Gorgeous George distracts referee Johnny Boone from the apron - but Kidman ducks it and Miss Madness hits Savage instead. Nevertheless, Savage is able to hit Kidman with a piledriver before hitting the top rope elbow for the win...almost. Savage pulls Kidman up and goes for another elbow from the top rope, but Johnny Boone confronts him for it and gets knocked out as a result. Savage his the second top rope elbow, then goes for a third. Before that can happen, Dennis Rodamn shows up and hits Savage in the back with a purse. John Arliss leaves the commentary table and talks with Rodman, and says there is so much money in Dennis Rodman in WCW as "Mean" Gene Okerlund shows up to find out what is going on and Arliss tells Rodman not to blow it. Arliss says he will be under contract, and Savage goes after Rodman only to be held back by WCW security. Arliss wants a match between Savage and Rodman at the next pay-per-view, Road Wild. Tony Schiavone and Mike Tenay are also seen approaching the ring, and Savage says he wants Rodman right now. He tells Rodman to pick up his training bra and he will make him a man right now. Rodman says he is up to the challenge. Rodman then shakes his butt towards Madusa, Miss Madness and Gorgeous George, saying he is so mad he is going to make Rodman his bitch. Madusa and Miss Madness then start brawling again, and WCW security have to keep both women apart.

Before the next match, Konnan says there are a lot of wrestlers jockeying for position to get that money and says he is doing the same thing, and says that there are "punk mark busters" like Vampiro trying to show and prove. He dares Vampiro to get in the ring and prove himself one more time. Vampiro shows up, and when he gets in the ring, Konnan says "Show and prove now" before slapping him in the face. Vampiro then kicks Konnan in the side of the ribs. This starts a match.

Konnan beats Vampiro by disqualification when he is suddenly attacked by Insane Clown Posse (Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope). They and Vampiro then triple-team Konnan. Raven - who has not been seen in some time - then appears on the apron and watches things go down, and Rey Mysterio Jr. also gets in the ring to fight the ICP off only to fall victim to the numbers game.

Ernest "The Cat" Miller shows up...almost. Instead, Buff Bagwell shows up dressed like The Cat, while another person shows up wearing a Sonny Onoo mask while accompanied by a beautiful woman. Bagwell mocks The Cat's dancing as he makes his way to the ring. He also makes fun of The Cat's speech as well, from saying he won't leave until he whups somebody to mocking the crowd to issuing an open challenge to anyone in the locker room. He says he has his "main man" Sonny Onoo with him, as well as his "main lady,: "Sonny Oh-Yeah." He says he will whup anybody in The Jacksons, then says he may want to click his red shoes three times and say "There's no place like my crib." He does that, but he is still in Rockford, Illinois. The real Ernest Miller and the real Sonny Onoo show up and fight their impostors. Buff Bagwell gets his hands on Sonny Onoo, and when Buff Bagwell punches Onoo's briefcase into The Cat's face when he tries to attack him with it, The Cat opens the briefcase up and attacks Buff with one of his red dancing shoes. The Cat says Buff may look and sound like him, but he can't dance like him as he puts his red dancing shoes on. The Cat does a little dance, then hits Buff with an elbow before Onoo counts to three.

The Revolution ("The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn) beat The West Texas Rednecks (Curt Hennig and Barry Windham) by disqualification when Bobby Duncum Jr. and Kendall Windham get involved in the match. Dean Malenko runs into the ring and fends off The West Texas Rednecks, but the numbers game catches up to him. All of a sudden, "The Franchise" Shane Douglas of Extreme Championship Wrestling fame - and former tag team partner of Dean Malenko - shows up and fights off the Rednecks. He tells Saturn, Malenko and Benoit that all the fans now what tough S.O.B.'s they are. Starting tonight, things are about to change in World Championship Wrestling. Where he is from, if someone hold you down, you step in front of them, bash their brains out with a stop sign and take your spot back. He says there is a cancer in WCW, and tonight, they take out the trash and the cancer and take WCW back where it rightfully belongs.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Hollywood Hogan retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship by disqualification against Sid Vicious when he is attacked by Kevin Nash. Sting gets in the ring and fights Nash before hitting Nash and Sid with Stinger Splashes, then Rick Steiner shows up and attacks Sting. Nash, Sid and Rick Steiner continue to attack Hogan and Sting, then Goldberg comes out to "Crush" by Megadeth and fights them all off. Goldberg, Hogan and Sting all stand tall in the ring to end the show.
