Nitro-Glycerin - Tuesday Nitro recap for April 28, 1998

Note: This episode is the remaining two hours of this week's Nitro, split between two days due to the NBA Playoffs.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Disco Inferno with the Crippler Crossface.

We see a video package of Chris Jericho's recent escapades.

Chris Jericho comes out to Dean Malenko's music, mocking his ring mannerisms on the way to the ring. He also mocks Malenko's voice as he mocks Malenko saying he is going home.

Chris Jericho retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Psychosis after reversing a top rope hurricanrana into the Lion Tamer.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

The Barbarian and Hugh Morrus beat Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock). This match originally starts out as The Barbarian vs. "Flyboy" Rocco Rock. During the match, Hugh Morrus runs in and nails Rocco in the back of the head, leading to Johnny Grunge running in and hitting Hugh Morrus with a trash can. The ref officially declares the match a tag team match soon after this. Jimmy Hart is also put through a table by Public Enemy, but Hugh Morrus and Rocco Rock go through the table instead.

We see a video package of Juventud Guerrera.

Juventud Guerrera beats Kidman. After the match, Riggs, Reese, Sick Boy and Horace attack Juvi.

Next week's Nitro takes place in Indianapolis, Indiana.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Alex Wright. Wright says he took a vacation in his home country for the last five months, then says he had to come to the "pigsty" that is Norfolk, Virginia to teach the people there how to dance only to be forced to the back by WCW security after being treated like royalty wherever he went. WCW Head of Security Doug Dellinger and two other men force Wright to the back again.

Booker T retains the WCW World Television Championship against Eddie Guerrero. Eddie takes his anger out on Chavo Guerrero Jr. after the match.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Saturn beats Marty Jannetty with the Death Valley Driver.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Diamond Dallas Page. Page says the only reason he called Raven out last week is because he wanted him to experience his "Big Bang Theory," but he walked away. Page says he's been looking for Raven and hasn't found him, and knows he'll find him sooner or later. He calls Raven out again, so Raven can feel the bang. Kidman and Sick Boy show up, and Sick Boy tells Page not to kill the messengers. Kidman says Raven couldn't make it tonight, but due to his comments, he sent a video especially for him. We see a message from Raven, who says that Page put his family through pain like he did to his. He says that Page's mom despised him to the point that he was sent to live with father and shuttled from family to family. He also mentions Page saying he doesn't remember anything from before he was eight years old and that he's okay with it, asking if he really is okay with it. He knows Page still wants to get his hands on him, but tells Page it is over between them. Page hits Sick Boy with the Diamond Cutter, and Kidman takes off for backstage. As Page leaves through the crowd, a fan gets in the ring and knocks Kidman out of the ring before being apprehended by security.

We see a video package of Goldberg winning the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship.

Goldberg retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Jerry Flynn.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls. It is reported that Buff Bagwell has undergone neck surgery on his spine and had a few vertebrae fused, but he is in stable condition and that his prognosis is good.

Lex Luger, The Giant and Sting beat Konnan, Brian Adams and Scott Steiner by count-out. During the match, Brian Adams walks out on Konnan and Scott Steiner, who walk out of the match soon after. The Giant choke slams Vincent just before the win.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart upon Bret's request. Bret makes it clear that he wants to express his motives for helping "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Hogan's face, and demands that Hogan shows up. Hogan shows up with Eric Bischoff and The Disciple, and Bret tells Hogan that he is somebody whom he has looked up to for a long time, and admits that Hogan has made more money than possibly anyone else in professional wrestling as well as professional wrestling's most recognized figure. Hogan tells Bret he appreciate him setting the record straight and telling it like it is,. Bret is about to mention the biggest reason he wanted him to win the World title when he unzips his jacket to reveal a Hogan shirt underneath. "Macho Man" Randy Savage confronts Bret and punches him, but Bret, Hogan and The Disciple outnumber him as the show ends.
