Spring Stampede 1998 - The Results

It is announced that the cast is coming off the arm of "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the main event, and that Savage and Sting have agreed that their match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship will be contested under no-disqualification rules.

Raven's Flock (Reese, Lodi, Sick Boy, Scotty Riggs, Hammer) are seen in the ring as Kidman and Saturn head to the ring.

Goldberg beats Saturn after taking down the rest of Raven's Flock (Reese, Lodi, Sick Boy, Scotty Riggs, Hammer, Kidman) and reversing the Rings of Saturn into a Jackhammer.

Ultimo Dragon beats Chavo Guerrero Jr. after reversing a tornado DDT into a Dragon Sleeper. During the match, a frustrated Eddie Guerrero confronts and slaps Chavo for not resorting to dirty tricks, and he continues to do so after the match.

Diamond Dallas Page answers questions for an interview on WCWWrestling.com. He says that he put the Diamond Cutter on "Macho Man" Randy Savage this time last year. Now, Raven has something that is his tonight - the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship - and that he's coming to get it.

Booker T retains the WCW World Television Championship against "The Crippler" Chris Benoit in a match with no time limit. During the match, Booker T accidentally kicks referee Mickey Jay with the Axe Kick, and Benoit locks the Crippler Crossface on Booker only to realize that he needs the referee up. As he gets the referee up, Booker T hits him with a Harlem Side Kick to get the win. After the match, two referees and a member of medical staff help Mickey Jay to the back. During the replay, it is noted that Benoit pushes the referee into Booker's path.

Before the next match, Jim "The Anvil" Niedhart and Rick Rude are handcuffed to each other. Rude will not allow himself to be cuffed, and referee Mart Curtis threatens to disqualify Hennig and award the match to The British Bulldog by forfeit is Rude is not handcuffed.

Curt Hennig beats The British Bulldog. During the match, Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart gets physical with a policeman, and Rick Rude frees himself from the handcuffs before handcuffing Neidhart to the turnbuckle and attacking him from behind. After the match, we find out that the policeman is obviously Vincent, and Rick Rude goes to town on Bulldog. Vincent even hands the nightstick from his disguise to Rick Ride so he can use it as a weapon on both Bulldog and Neidhart. Neidhart is then freed from the handcuffs by referees after Rude, Vincent and Hennig leave, and Neidhart is overheard calling Vincent "Virgil."

Before the next match, Chris Jericho says "I want you...to want...me," a reference to Cheap Trick. He dedicates tonight's match to Dean Malenko, who he says is in a "Where are they now?" file and is living as a couch potato who is now living vicariously through him.

Chris Jericho retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Prince Iaukea with the Lion Tamer. After the match, takes Iaukea's Hawaiian dress as a trophy.

Raven is interviewed for WCWWrestling.com. Raven says revenge is a dish best served cold, and that there is no place for Diamond Dallas Page to hide and that Page will feel the Evenflow.

Before the next match, Buff Bagwell is seen with a cast on his right hand as he heads to the ring with Scott Steiner. He says that the next match is cancelled due to his bad hand, as his lawyer specifically told him not to wrestle after not having a doctor's release as per WCW Executive Committee Chair J.J. Dillon. Scott Steiner says his brother Rick Steiner isn't here and that he and Lex Luger didn't want any part of them. As they speak, "Mean" Gene Okerlund and J.J. Dillon show up, and Dillon says he has flown Dr. Michael Sapella from Atlanta - one of the leading orthopedic surgeons in the country - in case of such an emergency. Sapella is at ringside, and he enters the ring to take the dressing off. Bagwell then grabs Dillon with the supposedly hurt hand, revealing that he is not hurt at all. Bagwell is cleared to wrestle, and the next match goes on as planned.

Lex Luger and Rick Steiner beat Buff Bagwell and Scott Steiner with a Torture Rack to Buff Bagwell as Scott Steiner runs to the back.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund plugs the WCW Hotline with news that the appearance of a certain someone showing up tonight may confirm the return of another superstar to the nWo.

Psychosis beats La Parka in a special unadvertised match.

Before the next match, Kevin Nash and "Hollywood' Hulk Hogan make separate entrances to the ring.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash beat "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and The Giant in a Bat Match. During the match, Piper gets the baseball bat high above the corner with the help of The Giant, and when Hogan gets to Piper, he tosses the bat away. The Disciple hands Hogan a bat and The Giant is knocked out, but that almost backfires when Hogan swings for Piper but hits Nash in the gut instead. The Disciple then hands Hogan a bat while trying to yank Piper's bat away from him, and Hogan hits Piper in the back with his bat to get the win. After the match, Nash is about to confront Hogan when Hogan tells him to hit The Giant with the Jackknife Power Bomb. Nash goes for it, but Hogan his Nash in the back with the baseball bat as he is bent over. The Giant then recovers and scares Hogan out of the ring.

WCW/nWo Slamboree comes to pay-per-view Sunday, May 17th!

Raven beats Diamond Dallas Page in a Raven's Rules match to become the WCW United States Heavyweight Champion after a man dressed as a WCW crew worker hits Diamond Dallas Page from behind with a stop sign, and will defend the championship against Goldberg tomorrow night on Nitro. Kidman, Sick Boy, and Lodi are seen in the front row before the next match, and Sick Boy gets punched in the face accidentally by Raven as he tries to hold down Page from behind at the start of the match.



"Macho Man" Randy Savage beats Sting to become the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. During the match, Sting almost hits the Stinger Splash on referee Charles Robinson, but Savage knocks Sting into him anyway, knocking Robinson down. Miss Elizabeth takes advantage o ft his by hitting Sting from behind with a chair, but Sting feels it, blocks a forearm from Savage and hits Elizabeth with the Stinger Splash before Savage hits Sting with the chair. He is about to hit a top rope elbow drop on Sting until "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan shows up and pushes Savage off the top. Savage's knee goes out on him, and Sting hits him with the Scorpion Death Drop. Kevin Nash appears and hits Sting with a Jackknife Power Bomb before placing Savge on top of Sting and placing the ref near him on the way out. Charles Robinson makes the three-count, and Savage wins the World championship. After the match, Nash takes the World title and picks Robinson up so that he can award Savage with the World title. Hogan shows up with The Disciple, aggravated that Savage has "his belt" and says "He can't do that!" as the show ends.
