"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Cody talks about his King of the Ring victory and states that it not only signifies where we have been, but where we are going, then Randy Orton heads to the ring. Orton talks about how he said he would not hesitate to beat Cody only to hesitate when he had him dead to rights. He says Cody did not hesitate, and pulled the trigger, and for that, he respects him. After he admits that he will not forget this, he asks Cody not to squander this opportunity and to kick John Cena's ass at SummerSlam. Suddenly, Drew McIntyre returns for the first time in weeks. McIntyre says Orton lost the psychological battle before he hesitated due to Cody buttering him up before their match, and reminds him that Cody attacked Orton's back the moment he tweaked it. He wants to know what happened to Orton, as he went from punting legends in the head to becoming a dead legend in a few years, then tells Cody that he wants him to win at SummerSlam, as he wants to face him and rip the WWE Championship from his hands. McIntyre then says that he will not hesitate, unlike Orton, who then hits McIntyre with an RKO out of nowhere before he and Cody have a brief staredown.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Charlotte Flair meets with General Manager Nick Aldis. Charlotte finds out that she is in a tag team #1 contender's match, and if she wins, she and her partner get a tag team title shot. Alexa Bliss shows up and says they are tag partners, not friends, and Charlotte is forced to reluctantly go along with this after Alexa says Charlotte has not been in the spotlight for a while and Aldis says that Charlotte does not always know what is best for her. Charlotte tells Alexa to stay out of her way.

Backstage, Drew McIntyre runs into General Manager Nick Aldis, wanting a match with Randy Orton. Aldis says Orton has left the building, but he can get a match next week at Saturday Night's Main Event. McIntyre then runs into Jacob Fatu, then walks away after a brief staredown. Aldis tells Jacob to find a tag team partner so he can take on Solo Sikoa and company later tonight. Jimmy Uso shows up right after Aldis leaves and becomes Jacob's tag partner.

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss beat The Secret Hervice (Piper Niven and Alba Fyre) and the team of B-Fab and "Michin" Mia Yim in a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship #1 Contender's Match after Charlotte pats Alexa on the head sarcastically, which counts as a tag. This allows Charlotte to boot Chelsea Green off the top rope so that Alexa can hit Twisted Bliss on Alba Fyre for the win.

In backstage footage from earlier today, General Manager Nick Aldis chews out the SmackDown tag team division for their interference from last week. This leads to an argument between #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) and Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom), which leads to Fraxiom getting a tag team match against Andrade and Rey Fenix. As for the rest of the tag team division, one man from each of the remaining teams will face The Wyatt Sicks while everyone else stays backstage, and if The Wyatt Sicks win tonight, they will be back in contention for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Gargano tries to unite the tag team division to no avail.

The Wyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis) beat Montez Ford, Johnny Gargano, Chris Sabin and Berto in an eight-man tag match after Johnny Gargano steps off the ring apron before Chris Sabin can tag him in, as Gargano wants nothing to do with Erick Rowan.

As she states that she is ready to beat Jade Cargill at SummerSlam well as whoever she defends the WWE Women's Championship against at Evolution, Jade Cargill shows up and heads to the ring. Jade says Tiffany was barely standing while she made quick work of Asuka, then tells Tiffany that she has a choice to make and that if she chooses wrong, she will not make it to SummerSlam. Tiffany reveals that her choice is none other than WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, then mentions how they teamed up in the past before giving her the opportunity to face her for the WWE Women's Championship. Jade says it does not matter if she faces Tiffany or a legend at SummerSlam, and Trish Stratus thanks Tiffany for allowing her to wrestle in front of her kids, yet she has never been a champion in front of her kids. Tiffany warns Trish that it will not be easy as it is not the Attitude Era, but Trish says she wants that fight. Tiffany says that whether she faces Trish or Cargill, everyone will know the world runs on Tiffy Time.

We hear from Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo and Tama Tonga. Solo Sikoa introduces Hikuleo - now known as Tala Tonga - then says his group is more dangerous than ever. He then says that he and JC Mateo will take care of Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso as he declares his family complete.

Cedric says Tasha called her, because everyone knows that Mustafa is not the man that he knew. He mentions the WWE Cruiserweight Division and how they were the heart and soul of 205 Live. Cedric also credits Mustafa as one of the people who kept him going in this business, and says that he is here to help him, and not for hostility. Mustafa says he does not want Cedric's help, saying Cedric took everything from him. Mustafa demands that Cedric give him "a WrestleMania rematch" against the one man he could never beat in Cedric at Slammiversary. Cedric says he is not here to be hostile, but if Mustafa wants to be hostile, he will beat his ass. Mustafa goes for a cheap shot, but Cedric ducks it and sends Mustafa out of the ring. Mustafa's security goes on the attack, but John Skyler and Jason Hotch help Cedric, who hits one of the security guards with the Lumbar Check. Mustafa is furious as he leaves.

We hear from Killer Kelly, who says that sometimes silence is louder than words and that things have been too quiet. Hendry heads to the ring, then Kazarian introduces Mike Santana just as reluctantly as he did Hendry. Santana makes his way to the ring. Kazarian then enthusiastically introduces Trick Williams, who also makes his way to the ring. Trick talks about how he has beaten both Hendry and Santana in one-on-one match and how he has no problem doing it again at Slammiversary, as he is the only one who should be holding the TNA World Championship. Kazarian then refuses to let both Hendry and Santana speak when he asks them questions, and Santana takes the microphone and threatens to drop Kazarian on his own show if he disrespects him again. He says he did not get into wrestling to sing corny songs or be a "fake-ass, whack-ass" rapper, but to be the best, and he plans to bring TNA back to its essence and make it all about being the best again. Santana then says he will walk into Slammiversary and become TNA World Champion. Hendry says that everyone wants to see Trick get his ass whipped, and while he respects Santana's ability and passion, he will not be the man. After Hendry says that Santana will respect him, Trick laughs and says that both Hendry and Santana are liars and that he will take everything from them like he said he would. Hangman says he has said plenty about how much his World Championship match and how much AEW means to him, and that he made a promise that at All In Texas, he would win the World Championship and show it for the whole world to see. He says that one can wrap a chain around his neck and hang him from the sky, but you would have to kill him to make him pass this opportunity by, and that he will not let anyone get in his way of the title. He knows that The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) and The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir) are coming and that he welcomes them, then tells Jon Moxley to give him everything or give him death, as their match will be a Texas Death Match. Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir head to the ring, and Moxley sees this as Hangman putting all of his chips - his life, health and career - all on the line and all on the table with the AEW World Championship up for grabs. Moxley refuses to go along with this, saying that Hangman does not want this as he is going to lose simply because he does not want to win and he is happy right where he is. He says that Hangman only won the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament because it was not the highest peak, then says that he lives in pressure. Moxley says he is more than the best in the world and the AEW World Championship and that he will show that at All In Texas and show exactly what he is, stating that Hangman does not have what it takes to beat him for the AEW World Championship. He also states that Moxley does not have what it takes to beat him in a Texas Death Match, much less what it takes to walk away from one. Hangman smacks Moxley, and when Moxley strikes back, Hangman produces a fork. Wheeler Yuta gets smacked when he confronts Hangman, and when Marina Shafir hits Hangman with the briefcase and slaps him multiple times, Hangman withstands everything. After Mark Briscoe leaves, "Speedball" Mike Bailey and "The Jet" Kevin Night show up and fight Shelton and Lashley, but Shelton and Lashley get the upper hand. Speedball and Knight refuse to stay down, and Shelton and Lashley have to go back to the ring again to ensure they stay down. Will Ospreay then questions The Young Bucks' courage before Matthew says "Hell no," as they get nothing out of the match. Ospreay says that if The Young Bucks win, then he and Swerve cannot challenge for the World Championship for one year. Matthew says this is the smartest thing Ospreay has come up with, but wants to make sure Swerve is on the same page before they have a deal. Swerve reluctantly says they have a deal.
