Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for December 5, 2017

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn show up to start tonight's show. Owens welcomes the audience to "The Sami and Kevin Show," and Sami says it is "The Kevin and Sami Show." Owens says that when you're the athlete he is, you never stop learning, and he has recently learned that they will stop at nothing to get "their pound of flesh." Owens and Sami use General Manager Daniel Bryan, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and themselves as examples of this, and Owens says they are the latest objects of the McMahon family's wrath. Owens goes on to say that Commissioner Shane McMahon used Randy Orton to destroy them, and Sami says it was not that long ago that Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon did the same. Owens says he and Sami have scratched and clawed to earned what he had, and that not only can Shane not get over losing at Survivor Series, but that he had to take it out on them. Sami says the funny part is that their plan didn't work. Owens talks about Shane making the match with Orton and making the match no-disqualification, and he knew he had to beat Orton to oblivion to keep him from being an option for Shane, whom he had to outsmart. He says it is not hard to outsmart a man who is blinded by his own shortcomings. Sami says that even though Shane was born into the business, even the best need to be reminded of a few things, and says he was not at ringside when he attacked Orton as he makes fun of the commentary team, the timekeeper and the fans, since his attack on Orton was on the ramp and the stage. He then goes on to say he and Owens worked within the system and still won. Suddenly, Randy Orton shows up out of the crowd and hits Owens with an RKO, then Shane shows up. Shane thanks Sami for the explanation, then clears up a couple of things. He says there is no personal vendetta between him and the team of Sami and Owens, and that he has a solution for them not being at Survivor Series. Because of this, at Clash of Champions, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will face Randy Orton and a partner of his choosing. He also says Sami is full of energy and that something should be done about that tonight: a match against Randy Orton. He also says that Kevin Owens is more than welcome to join him at ringside; as a matter of fact, he insists, as Owens will be handcuffed to the ring ropes.

Backstage, Kevin Owens is in pain, and Sami Zayn tells him what happened earlier. Sami and Owens are not happy with what has happened, and Owens says he will fix this by talking to General Manager Daniel Bryan.

Before the next match, Aiden English says every day is Rusev Day. However, this time of year, there are the "Twelve Days of Rusev." They are much like the "Twelve Days of Christmas," as we learn from Aiden English singing. The New Day interrupt after the second day.

Rusev and Aiden English beat The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E).

Renee Young interviews Mojo Rawley, who says everybody keeps getting on him for what he did to Zack Ryder. He says the second Zack got hurt, he made a name for himself by himself, and as things had just started going his way, Zack returned and dragged him down. He says Zack Ryder is dead weight while he is a serious competitor and nobody's tag team partner. He then says that if anyone has a problem with what he did to Zack, then they can shove it.

It is announced that the team of Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso), The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) and the team of Rusev and Aiden English will be in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Team Match for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships at Clash of Champions, and that in the match, Superstars can only tag in their own partner from their own team.

Carmella and Tamina both want a shot at the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship, with Carmella having gotten rid of James Ellsworth and Lana saying Tamina is worthy of a title shot. General Manager Daniel Bryan tells them the match for the title at Clash of Champions is already shot. He also tells Carmella that she can get a title shot, but only if she gives him the Money In The Bank briefcase. Suddenly, The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) shows up. Ruby Riott wants a shot at Natalya after having made the earth move and having pinned Natalya last week, and Ruby, Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan accuse Daniel Bryan of being superficial. After both sides take verbal swipes at each other and argue, Daniel Bryan puts them all in the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship match at Clash of Champions...as lumberjacks.

Bobby Roode is met by Baron Corbin. With Dolph Ziggler added to their match at Clash of Champions, their odds of winning have gone down. Suddenly, Dolph Ziggler shows up. Ziggler talks about his accomplishments, and tells them they need him and that their odds have dropped to zero.

The Bludgeon Brothers (Harper and Rowan) beat Adam James and Josh Carr. (Adam James and Josh Carr are independent wrestlers Peter Avalon and Fidel Bravo, respectively.)

Kevin Owens gets back with Sami Zayn backstage. Owens has spoken with General Manager Daniel Bryan about their match, and he has said he will think about it. Sami is disappointed when Owens says they will have to wait and find out.

Dolph Ziggler guests on commentary for the next match.

Baron Corbin vs. Bobby Roode ends with Dolph Ziggler hitting a Zig Zag on both men.

Natalya is talking to Lana, Carmella and Tamina backstage. She tells them to throw Charlotte into the ring, but also to have her back in case The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) shows up. Suddenly, The Riott Squad show up. Natalya changes her tune and thanks them for taking out Becky Lynch and Naomi last week. She continues to butter them up and says Charlotte Flair is the kind to attack them from behind and that she is proud that she is honored to share a spotlight with the most powerful women in the WWE, she runs away.

We see a preview for Jinder Mahal vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Clash of Champions.

Charlotte Flair beats Tamina with the Figure Eight. After the match, Natalya congratulates Charlotte and tells her to enjoy her last taste of victory, as she will take the SmackDown Women's title back and the Queen will bow down. As Natalya tells Charlotte to get her head on a swivel and that she will get a taste of a Lumberjack Match this instant, The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan) shows up. Ruby Riott says she agrees with Charlotte and give her a preview of a lumberjack match. Sarah Logan says everyone is as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, and Liv Morgan says no one is safe when a Riott breaks out. After some hesitation, Tamina punches Sarah Logan, and both sides have to hold each other back.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn meet General Manager Daniel Bryan...who is surrounded by security guards, one of whom is holding a pair of handcuffs. Kevin Owens will be handcuffed to the ring ropes.

Next week is WWE Week on USA Network: Raw on Monday, SmackDown Live on Tuesday, NXT's network debut on Wednesday and Tribute To The Troops on Thursday!

General Manager Daniel Bryan threatens to suspend Kevin Owens if he does not allow himself to be handcuffed to the ring post before the next match.

Despite Kevin Owens breaking free from his handcuffs at the ring ropes, Randy Orton beats Sami Zayn. After the match, Kevin Owens takes the boots to Randy Orton, and Sami Zayn joins in. Suddenly, "The Artist" Shinsuke Nakamura runs in and makes quick work of both Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Sami Zayn tastes an RKO, Orton thanks Nakamura, then Owens eats an RKO and Sami Zayn eats a Kinshasa. Afterwards, Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan talk backstage. Shane says he is just getting warmed up, and says he will be the special guest referee for Owens and Sami Zayn vs. Orton and Nakamura at Clash of Champions. If Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn lose, they are fired from WWE.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
