Layin' da SmackDown! - SmackDown Recap for August 16, 2013

The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan) show up. They have found that their actions have been misinterpreted. Wyatt considers Kane a freak of nature, yet people still love him, and wants to reveal him as the "pack of lies" that he is, promising to beat Kane at SummerSlam. Kane's music hits, but it's a sneak attack that leaves Kane alone in the ring with Wyatt. Kane unloads, but is then overpowered by both Harper and Rowan, with Wyatt enjoying his brothers' comeback.

Christian beats Damien Sandow with a surprise roll-up, then lands a Spear on Sandow after the match. Alberto Del Rio shows up and attacks Christian from behind, telling him he won't win this Sunday. Del Rio goes for the Cross Arm Breaker only to eat a Killswitch!

Renee Young interviews Rob Van Dam, who knows he can beat Dean Ambrose for the United States title. Mark Henry and Big Show come from nowhere to side with RVD to back him, and they too are hungry for The Shield (Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns)!

AJ Lee and Layla beat Kaitlyn and Kaitlyn.

Renee Young interviews Ryback. He lives off of brutality and isn't on the SummerSlam card. He then catches a random guy backstage smiling at him...and promptly beats him up. (The backstage worker is Drake Younger, who will later join WWE as a referee the following March under his real name Drake Wuertz.)

"The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry, The Big Show and Rob Van Dam beat The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns).

After Antonio Cesaro and Zeb Colter are tossed out by the ref, The Miz rolls up Jack Swagger for the win.

Curtis Axel beats Zack Ryder.

After the break, Paul Heyman complains about CM Punk and promises Brock Lesnar will beat him at SummerSlam.

Vince McMahon shows up as Daniel Bryan takes on Wade Barrett in a no-disqualification match.

Vince McMahon tosses the referee out by his leg as Daniel Bryan locks in the No! Lock on Wade Barrett. Vince brings in Brad Maddox to replace the ref, but even that backfires as Barrett inadvertently hits Maddox with a kendo stick. Vince almost puts on a ref's shirt ripped off from the first ref, but Triple H comes out with the stripes already on, and counts Daniel Bryan's pinfall to give Bryan the win over Barrett. Triple H and D-Bry lead the "Yes!" chants, then Randy Orton shows up at the top of the entrance ramp to close out the show.
