Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for March 29, 2013

The Rock gets in the ring to start tonight's show in Hershey, Pennsylvania. After pulling out a Hershey's bar, he talks about his younger days in nearby Bethlehem and his glorious quest for a Whatchamacallit. He then talks about the beatdown he gave John Cena last week...then John Laurinitis shows up!

After the match, we find out Teddy Long gave him permission to get in the ring. He blames John Cena for his firing...and reappearance. He wants to be in The Rock's corner at WrestleMania. The Rock asks the people if it's okay, then asks if Big Johnny can help him send a message to Cena. Big Johnny agrees...and earns a spinebuster and a People's Elbow in return.

The Miz guests on commentary for the next match.

Wade Barrett argues with The Miz...and it costs him. Chris Jericho beats Wade Barrett with a Codebreaker as soon as Barrett gets back in.

After the match, Chris Jericho makes fun of Fandango's name again. Fandango comes out, and Jericho tells him to get in the ring. Fandango backs out.

Josh Mathews interviews Paul Heyman, who says it's a "must-lose" situation for Triple H, and wants to mess with Triple H's emotions by having Brock Lesnar beat him and end his career, which in turn leads Triple H to be irritated with and jealous of the Superstars under his employ. Of course, that's Paul Heyman's thought processes at work.

Booker T and Teddy Long are here. They introduce Ryback, then Mark Henry for the bench press challenge. Mark Henry almost gets in Ryback's face, but Booker T threatens to ban both men from WrestleMania for violating the no-contact clause. Mark Henry goes first and does 53 reps on a 225-lb. bar. Ryback goes after are ties it, but Mark Henry walks up to Ryback and chokes him with the bar before he can beat him. Talk about a sore loser!

Daniel Bryan and Kaitlyn beat AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler.

The Shield - Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns - have a message for Big Show, Sheamus and Randy Orton: you're going to lose.

Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter's xenophobia continue with The Great Khali, Natalya and Hornswoggle before their match.

Jack Swagger and The Great Khali wrestle to a double count-out, and Hornswoggle gets punished for biting Swagger while saving Khali. Ricardo Rodriguez shows up and dares Swagger to attack him instead, but it's all a setup for Alberto Del Rio to strike Swagger from behind and hit the Cross Arm Breaker. Zeb Colter gets hit in the back with the crutch of Ricardo, and Colter and Swagger escape.

Renee Young debuts as an interviewer! She interviews Sheamus, Randy Orton and Big Show. They're a unit...but Show and Sheamus still have their quibbles.

Arnold Schwarzenegger will induct Bruno Sammartino into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Team Rhodes Scholars (Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes) make fun of Sheamus, Randy Orton and Big Show. Antonio Cesaro yodels.

Sheamus, Randy Orton and Big Show beat Team Rhodes Scholars (Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes) and Antonio Cesaro. The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) show up, but this time, the victors of the match come to them! The Shield retreat, but not before they get thrown around a bit by their WrestleMania opponents!
