Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for January 19, 2023

The Design (Angels and Kon) beat Yuya Uemura and Delirious in the BTI match. After the match, Deaner takes the microphone and calls Sami Callihan to the ring, and Callihan shows up. Deaner declares "The Death Machine" dead, then tells Calilhan to get in the ring. Deaner tells Callihan that he made the right choice by allowing his hair to be cut off, then says it is time to make the next right choice in the process. Deaner commands Kon to bring Delirious back into the ring, and Deaner wants to know if Callihan is willing to follow orders. He tells Callihan to make the right choice and take Delirious out. Sami Callihan gives the thumbs up, but Deaner turns the thumbs up into a thumbs down before Callihan hits Delirious with the Cactus Driver '97.

In memory of Jamin Pugh "Jay Briscoe", 1984 - 2023.

Mickie James heads to the ring to start tonight's show. She says "The Last Rodeo" may be over, but "Hardcore Country" is forever, for there is a new champion in the house. As she thanks the fans, she is interrupted by Bully Ray. Bully points to the back and tells her to leave, but Mickie tells him that the fans want Bully out of the ring, now her. Mickie then tells Bully to get out of her ring, but Bully tells her to stop talking and wasting her time, as the ring is not hers and that he was the main event of Hard To Kill, not her. He says that he was the one to sold the place out and did all the work to get people talking about Impact, and yet people cheer for Mickie James and talk about "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander, who he says would be a nobody if it were not for him. Mickie asks Bully if he is done talking about himself like he does, and says that the only headline she saw was "Bully Ray Tapped Out." This leads to a "you tapped out" chant. Bully Ray tells Mickie James this is her last warning, and that the next words that come out of her mouth should be chosen "very, very wisely." Mickie says he works with Bully on a weekly basis and has a lot of respect for him, but outside of the ring, he has shown his true colors and what he has always been: a bitter bully who politicks to get what he wants and throws a fit when he doesn't. She tells Bully that she knows what he has done to women in the business and that she will not back down, and if he wants her out of the ring, he will have to take her out of it. Suddenly, Suddenly, Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans show up. Tasha says she is not the biggest Bully Ray fan after he presed her over the top rope, and says that if Bully want to go "oops upside Mickie's head," then she wants a front row seat. She then asks Mickie what her headline is about, and says the one headline everyone - including her - should be talking about it is that Mickie can't beat her. She stops Mickie from talking, and Mickie shoves her. Bully tells Tasha not to take crap off Mickie because Mickie is "a two-bit champion," then Tasha says she will take what is hers back from Mickie, then says that if Bully wants a piece of Mickie, he should not leave them out. Savannah Evans then hits Mickie with a cheap shot, then Jordynne Grace and Frankie Kazarian show up as Tasha and Savannah attack Mickie and Bully looks under the ring. Suddenly, Director of Authority Santino Marella also shows up. Santino says he has a match to make and that he needs to figure it out, then Ernest "The Cat" Miller makes a surprise entrance and mentions being World Championship Wrestling Commissioner at one point before making one big match. Bully Ray tries to leave as Santino makes his announcement, but Santino threatens to fire him if he leaves. He then puts Bully, Tasha and Savannah in a match with Mickie, Kazarian and Jordynne, and it starts right now.

Frankie Kazarian, Mickie James and Jordynne Grace beat Bully Ray, Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans after Bully Ray walks out of the match. After the match, Masha Slamovich shows up with a black manila envelope, which she hands to Mickie James. Inside is a black-and-white picture of Mickie with a big red X all over it, and Mickie kisses it before shoving it into Masha's face.

Backstage, Director of Authority Santino Marella thanks Ernest "The Cat" Miller for the assist, then runs a six-way "Golden Six-Shooter Match" by him where six former world champions face off to get a match for the Impact World Championship. Miller tells him that he is doing a good job and leaves, then Marella meets Dirty Dango before Steve Maclin shows up and takes offense to Dango being put in the match. Dango tells Marella he wants a match with Marella, and Marella makes it.

"The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo beats Ashley D'Amboise.

Backstage, Gia Miller looks for PCO in the lower floor of the arena for an interview. She finds him, and he soon repeatedly screams "Eddie!"

Backstage, Trey Miguel meets with Ashley D'Amboise and compliments her on her match, then says that with a few more squats, she will look good in no time. When Ashley thanks him, Trey takes that as disrespect, but Ashley reminds Trey that he defaced the X Division Championship. Mike Jackson shows up and chews Trey out for disrespecting Ashley. Trey Miguel makes fun of his age, and challenges Trey for the X Division title in response, promising to bring the title back to someone with respect if he wins. Trey nonchalantly accepts the challenge and leaves.

Killer Kelly beats Taylor Wilde with the Killer Clutch.

Backstage, Sami Callihan is met by The Design, and Deaner tells Callihan that "the process" is seven steps where Calliahn needs to make the right choice. He tells him that he made the right choices for steps one and two by shaving his head and following orders, then asks him if he will be in the Golden Six-Shooter Match. Callihan says yes. Deaner tells him to win the match and bring the title to The Design. Kon then warns Callihan that if he loses, there will be consequences.

Backstage, Director of Authority Santino Marella runs the "Golden Six-Shooter Match" by "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander, who likes the match idea and says he is happy to see Santino here. Josh leaves, then "The Quintessential Diva" Gisele Shaw and Jai Vidal show up, and Gisele Shaw wants a shot at the Knockouts Tag Team titles. Unfortunately for Gisele, nobody wants to team with her, and Santino says he will have to find Gisele a partner because nobody likes her.

Steve Maclin beats Dirty Dango.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews The Major Players (Matt Cardona and Brian Myers). Brian Myers says that they have had some bad luck and that "Inevitable" Ace Austin and Chris Bey have screwed them, but they are men and Austin and Bey are children. Moose suddenly shows up. Moose reminds Myers that his bad luck started when he lost the Digital Media title to Joe Hendry, and Matt Cardona says that Moose is right and that after he and Myers are done with Austin and Bey, he will take the Digital Media title back from Hendry.

Backstage, Dave LaGreca of Busted Open Radio interviews Tommy Dreamer regarding Bully Ray. He asks if there is any way for the relationship between Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer to be salvaged, and Dreamer says "no." He says that he does not have to take Bully Ray's negativity and that he has seen how Bully's lying has affected people. He also says that Bully Ray knows that while he will lose matches, he will not lose the war, and that he and Bully Ray are going to war.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey beats Kenny King in a Pit Fight by knockout after kicking a chair into the head of a downed Kenny King.
