Generation NXT - NXT recap for February 21, 2018

Velveteen Dream beats No Way Jose.

After the next match, Velveteen Dream says he is worthy of all the year-end accolades, and says nobody cares about any of the real award winners. He says his name is on the tip of everyone's tongue tonight, and if anyone can't see that, he doesn't have time for them.

Zelina Vega gets Andrade "Cien" Almas fired up for tonight's match.

General Manager William Regal announces that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will take place once again this year in two weeks, with the winners taking on the NXT Tag Team Champions at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans.

Nikki Cross beats Vanessa Borne.

Andrade "Cien" Almas retains the NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano in a championship vs. career match after Almas accidentally elbows referee Drake Wuertz and Tommaso Ciampa shows up to whack Gargano in the back with a crutch as the referee is down. As per pre-match stipulations, Johnny Gargano must leave NXT. Candice LeRae comforts Johnny Gargano afterwards as the crowd chants "Thank you, Johnny," then they both head to the back. Ciampa is then seen waving goodbye to end the show.
