Generation NXT - NXT recap for June 1, 2016

The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson) show up to start the show. They claim that they will take the NXT Tag Team Championships back from American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable). They call them "great little amateur athletes" and say they will prevail when Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa show up. They tell The Revival that their time at the top is up and that American Alpha is better than them...and that they can't even beat the two of them. Dash and Dawson make light of them, too, and tell them to go back to the indies. After Ciampa makes a reference to their loss at NXT TakeOver: Dallas, The Revival tells them to come see them when they've actually won something in NXT and walk to the back. Johnny Gargano tells them that for two top guys, they're running up the ramp pretty fast. This is enough for The Revival to walk back into the ring only to get cleared right out.

Cathy Kelley interviews "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura. He says that Austin Aries will bow down to the King of Strong Style.

"The Perfect Ten" Tye Dillinger beats Murphy (who is now known as Buddy Murphy again).

Earlier today, Corey Graves interviewed Samoa Joe and Finn Balor in the same room at the same time. Finn Balor never expected to lose the NXT Championship like he did, but he doesn't regret it. Joe says he got he wanted as well as what he wanted, and continues to insist that Balor made him go through hoops to get it. Balor calls Joe out on his selfishness and entitlement, saying there are others more deserving of the title than him mostly because they didn't run around screaming and demanding a championship match. Finn asks what happened to the Samoa Joe he met ten years ago, and the two of them almost come to verbal blows. After some more questions, it becomes obvious that Joe is coming into NXT: TakeOver with a power advantage, that the NXT Championship is everything to Finn Balor right now, and that Joe is more in the mood to pound Joe into dust than anything else. Finn tells Joe to enjoy his reign while it lasts as they stare down.

Austin Aries beats "The Drifter" Elias Samson with the Last Chancery. After the match, Austin Aries says he will make the spotlight shine on him at NXT TakeOver.

Andrade "Cien" Almas will come to NXT at NXT TakeOver. We also see the official name for the next TakeOver: "The End."

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa beat The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) after Gargano reverses a top rope superplex into an inside cradle. The Revival attack Gargano and Ciampa after the match, and hit the Shatter Machine on Ciampa. American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable) show up and stop The Revival from injuring Tommaso Ciampa like they did Big Cass weeks ago.

NXT General Manager William Regal is in the ring to officiate the contract signing for the NXT Women's Championship match at NXT TakeOver: The End. He introduces Nia Jax and Asuka. When Regal talks about Asuka, Nia Jax grabs the microphone and cuts him off, saying she's not impressed with Asuka and will break her like she did Bayley. After Nia signs the contract, Asuka tells her she talks too much, speaks some Japanese, and tells Nia Jax that she should be scared of her. Nia shoves Asuka, and Asuka responds by starting a brawl that ends with a Nia Jax power bomb.
