Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 23, 2013

Before the show, Vince McMahon pays tribute to Angelo Savoldi, who passed way last Friday at the age of 99.

The ten Superstars that were part of last week's "active protest" and the prematurely ended 11-on-3 handicap match from last week's SmackDown (Justin Gabriel, R-Truth, Zack Ryder, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Darren Young, Rob Van Dam, Titus O'Neil) are on the ramp. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon show up and thank them for grabbing the brass ring last week. Rob Van Dam gets on the mic on the ramp and tells them they were all fighting for Daniel Bryan. Since all ten men have history against The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns), they all will take part in an 11-on-3 elimination handicap match against The Shield...and Daniel Bryan will be the 11th man. Also, there will be a WWE App vote where the WWE Universe gets to choose who faces Randy Orton tonight. Will it be R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler or Rob Van Dam?

Alberto Del Rio beats Kofi Kingston with the Cross Arm Breaker.

Renee Young interviews The Miz. Triple H won't let Miz take on Randy Orton tonight...but he does let him host Miz TV. His guest? Big Show.

The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Erick Rowan) beat The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O'Neil). Bray Wyatt hits the Sister Abigal on Darren Young.

It's Miz TV time! The Miz tells Randy Orton it's not over, and hell be back with a vengeance. Big Show is introduced. Miz tries to reason with Big Show, telling him he needs to step up against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie shows up, and berates Miz before telling Big Show to knock Miz out. Big Show does that at the drop of a pin.

Randy Orton will have to face Rob Van Dam.

Randy Orton vs Rob Van Dam ends in a double count-out. Orton decimates RVD afterwards.

Los Matadores are coming to Raw net week!

Alberto Del Rio hits a cheap shot and a Cross Arm Breaker on a helpless Rob Van Dam during the break.

The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella) aren't impressed with Randy Orton when he decided to make an example out Brie's boyfriend Daniel Bryan. They know that D-Bry is a real winner and a better champion than him.

Stephanie McMahon speaks with AJ Lee...and shills a copy of the new Triple H: Thy Kingdom Come DVD to her to show her "what a real wedding looks like." As for AJ's match tonight, AJ will have to compete in it whether she wants to or not...and gets in AJ's personal space to make a point.

Fandango beats Santino Marella, thanks to the distraction from Summer Rae.

CM Punk shows up. He's bummed that he lost to Paul Heyman last week at Night of Champions, but like the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks, he refuses to give up and feel sorry for himself, and he's trudging on! Paul Heyman appears on a Hoveround and interrupts him. Punk can't wait to beat him down as Heyman verbally bashes Chicago and rubs his victory at Night of Champions in Punk's face. When Heyman tries to leave, his Hoveround dies on him. Punk goes after Heyman, but Curtis Axel and Ryback attack him. In the end, Punk is overpowered, and it's revealed that Heyman isn't hurt at all as he is able to walk just fine.

CM Punk refuses medical attention from the officials.

The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella), The Funkadactyls (Cameron and Naomi) and Natalya beat AJ Lee, Alicia Fox, Tamina Snuka, Aksana and Layla.

The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) are ready to take on eleven men tonight.

Daniel Bryan shows up. He insists that he had nothing to do with Scott Armstrong's fast count. When The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) show up after D-Bry says he'll be WWE champ at Battleground, two fans jump the barricade and attack them! The fans are revealed to be none other than Cody Rhodes and Goldust!

Dolph Ziggler will take on Dean Ambrose for the United States Championship on SmackDown!

Daniel Bryan, Justin Gabriel, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso), The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O'Neil), Zack Ryder, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Rob Van Dam and R-Truth beat The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns) in an 11-on-3 elimination handicap match. For the first time since his debut at Survivor Series 2012, Roman Reigns is pinned.
