The Prime Time Players (Darren Young and Titus O'Neil) vs. Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay and Tensai) vs. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) vs. 3MB (any pairing of Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, or Jinder Mahal) vs. The Real Americans (Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro) (with Zeb Colter)
in a Tag Team Turmoil match for #1 contendership of the WWE Tag Team Championships
Yep, this is the kick-off. It's a bunch of tag teams in a Tag Team Turmoil match (think of it as a Tag Team Gauntlet match). The last team standing gets to take on The Shield (Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns) later that night.
My prediction: I love all these teams! But I'd like to see The Usos get the win on this one. This could be a good redemption for coming so close at Money In The Bank.
Randy Orton (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
for the WWE Championship
Oh, come on. You know Daniel Bryan has a rematch clause from SummerSlam. You know Randy Orton's heel again. You know Orton's part of the Corporation (or whatever it's gonna be called at this point). You know Triple H doesn't consider D-Bry "face of the company" material. You know all that's gone down at this point.
My prediction: I think Randy Orton will somehow retain this one. As much as I'd like Daniel Bryan to win it (and boy, do we ever want it!), I can picture this feud continuing into Battleground or even Survivor Series very, very easily. Orton will win...for now.
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Rob Van Dam
for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Ever since he's returned at Money In The Bank, Rob Van Dam has been flying high and winning most of his matches. That's a really good thing, because he's powered his way into #1 contendership to the World title as only RVD knows how.
Now with Ricardo Rodriguez as his mouthpiece (after being betrayed by Alberto Del Rio following a 30-day Wellness Policy suspension, supposedly for illegal fat burners), Rob Van Dam is putting Del Rio...and the rest of the WWE...on notice.
My prediction: Put the belt on RVD already, will ya?
CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel
in a 2-on-1 handicap match
If Paul Heyman does not show for the fight, he will be fired from the WWE.
Oh, boy. CM Punk's sure gonna get his hands on Paul Heyman once and for all, all right. Of course, he'll have to deal with Curtis Axel as well. But the good news is that Paul Heyman can't weasel his way out this one, because if he does...he's fired!
Kinda stinks that the Intercontinental title won't be on the line. This is called Night of Champions, WWE. You put it on the line last year. C'mon.
My prediction: CM Punk will probably win this one. I mean, he kicked Axel in the head while handcuffed. You can't beat that!
AJ Lee (c) vs Natalya vs Brie Bella vs Naomi
in a Fatal Four-Way match for the WWE Divas Championship
Shortly after SummerSlam, AJ Lee did a rather fantastic promo from the top of the entrance ramp as the entire cast of Total Divas was in the ring, where she said that while they should be thankful they're on a reality show, they still can't toe-to-Chuck Taylors with her and beat her in the ring for the Divas title. A week later, she interfered in a Triple Threat match for #1 contendership for the Divas title involving Natalya, Brie Bella and Naomi only to get manhandled...er, Diva-handled. The three competitors got with Stephanie McMahon, who decided to put all three of them in a Fatal Four-Way match against AJ for the Divas title.
The Divas Division is getting interesting again.
My prediction: If there was ever a time to put the belt on Natalya again, this would be perfect. I personally want one of the Total Divas stars to get the title, but the fact that Natalya is in matches more than she's with The Great Khali due to the Total Divas exposure is a sign of something grand, and I'd like to see her win the title again as a result.
The Shield (Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns) (c) vs Tag Team Turmoil winners
for the WWE Tag Team Championships
See the Tag Team Turmoil entry. That's all I can say about this one.
My prediction: Shield retains. Because.
Dean Ambrose (c) vs Dolph Ziggler
for the WWE United States Championship
Of all the people to challenge him for the title...Dolph Ziggler? Fresh off his third World Heavyweight Championship reign? Seriously? Well, at least he can get some gold around his waist again...if Dean Ambrose doesn't get to him first!
My prediction: Dean Ambrose will probably retain.
