Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for February 10, 2000

Before the next match, Kurt Angle says that even though he suplexed an 82-year-old pregnant woman, he is still a role model for children and the elderly. At the time, he thought Mae Young was "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry, and now he has decided to treat the fans and become the next WWF European Champion. He then acknowledges that he is in Texas, and that people in Austin, Texas do not know where Europe is. He blames it on the local education system, then promises that he will not only educate, but entertain the fans, when he wins the title.

Kurt Angle beats Val Venis to become the WWF European Champion - his first taste of WWF gold - after crotching Val Venis on the top rope as he attempts the Money Shot.

Backstage, D-Generation X (Triple H, X-Pac, "Road Dogg" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn), the radicals (Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero), Tori and WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley hold a meeting. Stephanie mentions that ever since Paul Bearer brought Kane back, they will have to bring down Kane, The Rock, Cactus Jack and Too Cool (Grandmaster Sexay, Scotty 2 Hotty, Rikishi Phatu). Perry Saturn will face Grandmaster Sexay, Dean Malenko will face Scotty 2 Hotty, Chris Benoit will face Rikishi Phatu, and The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg and Billy Gunn) will face The Rock and Cactus Jack in tag team action. Triple H ribs X-Pac before telling him that the both of them will face Kane a 2-on-1 handicap match.

Perry Saturn beats Grandmaster Sexay with the Rings of Saturn. During the match, Grandmaster Sexay inadvertently takes out referee Tim White is a springboard cross body out of the corner. He hits the Hip Hop Drop (formerly the Tennessee Jam), but Saturn kicks out following a slow count from a groggy Tim White. Saturn then gets the Rings of Saturn on Grandmaster Sexay, who immediately gets his foot on the bottom rope. Tim White does not see the foot on the bottom rope, however, and Saturn gets his first WWF win.

We see highlights from the public announcement of the XFL, which kicks off next year.

Edge and Christian beat The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) after Buh Buh Ray hurts one of his legs during a Samoan Drop and Edge hits D-Von with a top rope missile drop kick so that Christian can win it with the Sunset Flip Powerbomb. During the match, it is announced that Terri Runnels is physically healing but is still mentally distraught after being put through a table by The Dudley Boyz. After the match, Buh Buh Ray is helped onto a stretcher by EMTs, but he reveals that he is faking his injury and grabs B.B. D-Von sets up a table while B.B. tries in vain to fight back, and this time, B.B. is put through a table. Edge & Christian run into the ring and stomp Buh Buh Ray, but D-Von smacks Edge and Christian in the back with a steel chair before referees and officials try to restore order.

We see footage from during the break where B.B. is helped from the ring on a stretcher.

Dean Malenko beats Scotty 2 Hotty with the Texas Cloverleaf. Eddie Guerrero shows up during the match to watch from ringside. After Scotty 2 Hotty hits the worm, Eddie pushes him off the top rope to allow Malenko to lock in the Texas Cloverleaf for the win, then he and Malenko take the boots to Scotty 2 Hotty before Grandmaster Sexay runs into the ring. Eddie flees, but Grandmaster Sexay gets a DDT in on Malenko before clearing out the ring to save Scotty 2 Hotty.

Raw airs next week at 11 PM Eastern, 10 PM Central due to the Westminster Dog Show.

We see a vignette for Tazz.

Before the next match, Cactus Jack says that it is only 17 days before the biggest match of his life in Hell In A Cell at No Way Out. He says that if Triple H thinks that he will end his career, he is mistaken, as two things will happen and his career ending is not one of them. He says Triple H will be going down and he will be going on to WrestleMania. Tonight may not be Hell In A Cell, but it will be hell to pay in Austin, Texas.

Cactus Jack and The Rock beat The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dogg" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) after Cactus Jack hits Road Dogg with a lead pipe after referee Earl Hebner is preoccupied with The Rock and Billy Gunn at ringside. Cactus Jack then pulls Road Dogg out of the pinfall attempt for a piledriver to seal the win. Earlier in the match, Billy Gunn hits The Rock with one of the tag team titles while Hebner is preoccupied with Cactus Jack, who has just hit Billy Gunn with a cheap shot at ringside, but The Rock kicks out.

Gangrel and Luna Vachon beat Prince Albert and Jacqueline. Before the match begins, it is announced that B.B. has been transported to a local medical facility, but the extent of her injuries is unknown. After the match, Prince Albert hits Gangrel with a choke bomb, then Jacqueline hits Luna with a running facebuster.

Rikishi Phatu beats Chris Benoit by disqualification after the rest of the "radicals" (Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Eddie Guerrero) run into the ring and attack Rikishi. Grandmaster Sexay and Scotty 2 Hotty run in and fight Saturn and Benoit, forcing them to retreat.

WrestleMania 2000 is in eight weeks!

Al Snow and "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman beat The Hardy Boyz (Jeff and Matt Hardy) after The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray and D-Von Dudley) show up. Buh Buh Ray hits Jeff Hardy with a steel chair to the back while D-Von distracts referee Tim White.

Backstage, Hardcore Holly tells Crash Holly that he has a bad feeling about their match tonight, but Crash tells him that he thought it was crazy until he heard that the match is no-disqualification and that Chris Jericho will have one arm tied behind his back.

Before the next match, Chris Jericho welcomes everyone to "Austin Is Jericho," then says he has one arm tied behind his back because it makes no difference if one or both of his arms - or legs - are tied behind his back, and he will still roll down the ramp and "hit the 7-10 split and become the Ayatollah of Rock 'n Bowl-ah." He says that the result will be the same for The Hollys (Hardcore and Crash Holly) will remain the same: a beating that they will never, ever forget. When The Hollys head to the ring, it is announced that Hardcore Holly will star in "Operation Sandman: Warriors in Hell" tomorrow night at 8 PM Eastern, 7 PM Central on UPN.

Chris Jericho beats The Hollys (Hardcore and Crash Holly) in a no-disqualification match with one arm tied behind his back when The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) show up and beat up The Hollys. After the match, it is announced that Jeff Hardy needs stitches in his eye and that Matt Hardy has suffered a separated shoulder in the last match.

Triple H tells X-Pac not to worry about Kane, as Kane cannot beat either of them in a one-on-one match and that they will destroy him.

Kane beats D-Generation X (Triple H and X-Pac) in a 2-on-1 handicap match by disqualification after Triple H hits Kane in the back with a steel chair, which has absolutely no effect. After the match, Kane hits Triple H in the head with a steel chair, then WWF co-owner Stephanie McMahon helmsley checks on Triple H. Kane stares at Stephanie, and Tori gets in the ring to take the chair away only to be nearly choke slammed. Kane fights off every single referee that gets in the ring before Paul Bearer grabs Tori and throws her towards Kane. Instead of choke slamming her, he lets Tori go. Tori thanks him, but Kane hits Tori with a Tombstone Piledriver, much to the horror of everyone nearby except for Paul Bearer.
