Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for October 11, 1999

This episode is dedicated to Robert "Gorilla" Marella aka Gorilla Monsoon, who passed away last week.

A forest green Cadillac shows up at the arena. Bret "The Hit Man" Hart and "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benit climb out of it. The Total Package and Miss Elizabeth mock them, and WCW security stops Bret and Benoit from getting any closer as The Total Package tells him to go back to Canada and to save his strength for their match tonight.

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan announces that Gorilla Monsoon will be missed. A teary-eyed Heenan states "You know the pearly gates in Heaven? It's now gonna be called the Gorilla position. Goodbye, my friend."

Dean Malenko talks to Perry Saturn backstage. Saturn tells Malenko he was trying to stop Shane Douglas, and that he had to defend himself against Rey Mysterio Jr. He asks Malenko if he would do the same, and asks if he has his support.

Perry Saturn vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. ends in a no-contest. During the match, Shane Douglas shows up, but he is soon confronted by Dean Malenko. Kidman shows up to assist Mysterio, and the match is over. Kidman tells Shane Douglas that if he wants to stick his nose in their business, then they can have a tag team match right now. Dean Malenko backs Shane Douglas to the back.

We see a video package for Meng. Meanwhile, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson are seen watching the video package, and agree that Meng is better and badder than ever.

Disco Inferno retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Kaz Hayashi. During the match, Disco Inferno asks Tony Schiavone if the match is being shown in Japan. When he is told that the match is worldwide, Disco sends Kaz Hayashi right into the table. In typical Brain fashion, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan moves his hands away from each other like a baseball umpire and yells "Safe!"

Thomas Haddon of Northumberland, Pennsylvania is this week's Mayhem winner.

In this week's Mayhem Match of the week, Meng beats Konnan by pinfall after countering a Sunset Flip powerbomb into a Tongan death grip.

Brad Armstrong is attacked from behind by Berlyn's bodyguard. Berlyn says something to Brad Armstrong in German, then Brad Armstrong grabs Berlyn's cane and strikes the bodyguard in the gut with it. Security have to stop the fight before it gets worse.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) are seen in the crowd again. Once again, they sit at the front row with two beautiful women, where they are once again interviewed by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, who asks when they are coming back. Nash says he is still retired, and Hall says his back sore from bending over backwards carrying the company, and says he will hang out with Nash and watch Goldberg. Nash gives a shout-out to "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes wishing him a happy birthday, then tells America "We're getting the band back together!" Nash then says they will return in July 2012 (which ends up being inaccurate, though not entirely off the mark, as they would be TNA World Tag Team Champions in 2010 as part of The Band).

Before the next match, Sid Vicious gets in Goldberg's way on the way to the ring and have a war of words, with Sid asking if Goldberg if he is intimidated and Goldberg asking Sid if he is scared.

Goldberg beats Horace Hogan.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan. He says the internet rumors make him sick to his stomach, but he will kick Sting's ass at Halloween Havoc. When he started in the business, the red and yellow ran wild, and when he finishes, it will still run wild. Before God and his family, he will do what he wants how he wants to do it, and at Halloween Havoc, he will train, say "one damn prayer," and kick Sting's ass. He also hopes the guys in the back are listening, because after Halloween Havoc, he will have the last laugh.

We see the Nitro Girls tryouts from last week in Kansas City, Missouri. "Mean" Gene Okerlund is then seen on the stage with Kimberly. She says she had the best time in Kansas City, Missouri, and says that Nicole is that city's finalist. She then says that women came out in droves for this week's tryouts in Biloxi, Mississippi. We are then introduced to finalists Amy and Tiffany, who are then brought to the ring. Viewers can vote on who wil make it to the finals on WCW.com tonight until 2 AM Eastern Time. Next week will be in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at 9 AM at the Gold's Gym in Elkins Park and later that night at Maui.

Torrie Wilson is seen wiping lipstick off Kidman's face. David Flair confronts her about this, but Torrie says she has no time for him and tells him to talk to his dad "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, as she is busy.

Brian Knobbs beats Stevie Ray in a Street Fight. As the referee is dealing with Hugh Morrus and Booker T, Jimmy Hart hits Stevie Ray with a trash can during a pinfall attempt on Brian Knobbs before rolling Knobbs on top of Stevie Ray. The referee rushes back to the ring and makes the pinfall.

Shane Douglas shows up. He tells the crowd to sit down and pay attention, as The Revolution ("The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Douglas) is going to air their dirty laundry. He calls them out, and they show up. He then asks Malenko why Saturn had to take a disqualification victory over Rey Mysterio Jr. when he could have had a clear win. Malenko tells him not to talk to him about clear-cut victories, as he knows what he saw. Douglas then confronts Benoit over coming to the arena with Bret "the Hit Man" Hart and accepting a match with him, saying he stands with them or against them. Benoit takes the microphone and tells Douglas not to brow-beat him, as he has known the Harts for 15 years and says without them, there would be no Benoit, and if there was no Benoit, there would be no Revolution. He then takes his Revolution shirt, tosses it at Douglas and storms to the back. Saturn tells Douglas his problem is that he runs his mouth without thinking, and now Benoit is gone. He then says they have a tag team match, but Douglas is not cleared to wrestle. Malenko says he is a man of his honor and word, and takes Douglas' place in the match while announcing he will take The Revolution back to the way he originally planned it.

Brad Armstrong beats La Parka. During the match, Berlyn shows up with his bodyguard, and during the match, La Parka accidentally takes out referee Nick Patrick from behind. Berlyn then gets in the ring, and the bodyguard attacks La Parka with a steel chair. Brad Armstrong is focused on La Parka, and Berlyn hits Brad Armstrong from behind with a reverse neckbreaker. Nevertheless, Brad Armstrong's arm is on top of La Parka, and referee Nick Patrick is able to make the pinfall.

Backstage, Curt Hennig is telling Torrie Wilson to get herself a real man when David Flair shows up, wanting a word with Torrie. Hennig tells David to buzz off, saying he's doing business. Torrie tells David to go away, and this leads to Curt Hennig and Curly Bill beating David Flair up before Hennig offers to show Torrie something she hasn't seen before.

Berlyn beats Norman Smiley.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair knows that Curt Hennig beat up David Flair, and asks him why he can't leave him and his son David alone. They came to style and profile, but now, before he works up a sweat between 12 and y6, he will work up a sweat with Hennig. If Hennig has his gear, they can get it on in the ring, and then when he gets done with Hennig, then maybe Diamond Dallas Page's wife Kimberly would like a shot at him.

The search for the new Nitro Girl continues in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Phoenix, Arizona.

The Revolution (Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko) beats The Filthy Animals (Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr.). During the match, Saturn and Malenko argue throughout the match, and Shane Douglas grabs referee Johnny Boone so he can toss a chain to Perry Saturn from the apron. When the replay is shown, Dean Malenko sees it and tears up the shirt, signaling his exit from The Revolution.

We see a video package of Goldberg.

Sid Vicious beats Van Hammer. During the match, Sid Vicious hits referee Mark Johnson from the side, allowing Rick Steiner to hit the Steiner Bulldog and an assisted power-bomb with Sid Vicious.

We see a promo for Seven (who is played by Dustin Rhodes, aka Goldust).

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair uses the ropes for leverage to beat Curt Hennig after David Flair runs in and yanks Curtly Bill off the apron and keeps him from assisting Curt Hennig during the pinfall.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart and "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit beat Rick Steiner and The Total Package by disqualification after Sid Vicious shows up and attacks both Hart and Benoit. As The Total Package gets Hart in the Torture Rack, Goldberg shows up and spears Rick Steiner after The Total Package runs away. Sid reminds Goldberg that he cannot touch him or else he loses his United States title amtch. Goldberg leaves the ring, then gets back in and hits Sid with a Spear.
