The show starts with a performance by The Nitro Girls. Kimberly is noticeably absent, due to what happened to her and husband Diamond Dallas Page in the last couple of weeks and because DDP is not in the building.
It is announced that according to the WCW Executive Committee, the results of Road Wild's main event cannot be discussed on commentary in any way on tonight's show, and that a WCW official will talk about what happened that night later on in the show.
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan beats The Barbarian with a schoolboy pin. Before the match, it is announced that the encore for Road Wild is tomorrow night on pay-per-view. After the match, Hacksaw is about to toss Jimmy Hart off the top rope when Hugh Morrus shows up and attacks him. Meng rushes in and boots Hugh Morrus before going after both The Barbarian and Jimmy Hart with the Tongan Death Grip. Head of WCW security Doug Dellinger also gets the Tongan Death Grip when he tries to break it up, as do Hacksaw and a few other members of security when they all try to calm him down.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger. Luger says that he is not one to mince words, and says two guys were involved in what happened to him last week. He's already gotten a piece of Scott Hall, and then reveals that the other man involved was who he should have suspected long ago: Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. Luger says he is not leaving until he gets a match with Bret tonight. Bret shows up, calling Luger "a damn liar" as he was nowhere near him when he was attacked, and that he made it all up because he's not good enough to be United States champ. He says that Luger is jealous that he is United States champ, has a working relationship with Hollywood Hogan and that Sting is like a brother to him. Luger says that Bret has nothing he wants except the United States title, and tells Bret to either put the title on the line or have his teeth knocked out right now. Bret accepts Luger's challenge.
Before the next match, Alex Wright chews Tokyo Magnum out, telling him that he has been a disappointment to them and should committee harikiri. Disco Inferno tells him to shape up or ship out if he wants to continue worshiping him, and tells him that he is on his own as his opponent is Eddie Guerrero.
Eddie Guerrero beats Tokyo Magnum.
Before the next match, Saturn calls out Kanyon, saying he was supposed to be his partner twice and never showed up.
Kanyon beats Saturn after Lodi distracts referee Mickey Jay and Raven hits Saturn with an Evenflow DDT.
Meng is seen fighting more members of WCW security backstage, immobilizing them with the Tongan Death Grip.
We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.
Scott Wilson and the students Waupakeneta High School in Wuapakaneta, Ohio are the grand prize winner of the Nitro Party contest. Next week, "Mean" Gene Okerlund and the Nitro Girls will be live at the high school for a live Nitro Party.
Steve "Mongo" McMichael beats Sick Boy.
Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.
Hollywood Hogan, The Disciple and Eric Bischoff show up. "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko almost breaks protocol on the Road Wild main event results being verboten. Hogan announces that the wrestling world is in a whole lot of trouble, as Jay Leno is on the shelf and Diamond Dallas Page is about to be swept under the carpet, as nWo Hollywood is back on track and the nWo-ites have been asking about the World title. Hogan then puts WCW and Goldberg on notice, and says the clock is ticking as he has beaten everyone and nobody has beaten him as he demands a World title shot. He tells WCW to bring him Goldberg on a silver platter so that WCW won't have any embarrassments and that he can take the World title back. Hogan then allows Bischoff to give the fans a "public service announcement:" since Meng has decimated WCW security, he and Hogan will provide nWo Hollywood security for the match between Meng and Goldberg tonight so that nothing bad happens to the fans and it can be a fair match.
It is announced that nWo Wolfpac have a response to nWo Hollywood, stating that they will be out in full force during the Meng vs. Goldberg match later tonight.
Before the next match, Chris Jericho shows up with Pepe and tells him he has found him. When Chavo tries to take Pepe back, Chris Jericho lures him backstage so he can beat him up. Jericho shows up and de-constructs Pepe before getting in the ring, replacing Chavo in the match, and tells Stevie Ray that since Chavo is "busy in the back with Pepe" and that he grew up on "the mean streets of Calgary, Alberta, Canada," he'll be glad to take him on. Stevie Ray tells Jericho he didn't come to see him run his mouth, and if Jericho wants a shot at the World Television Championship, they can get it on.
Chris Jericho beats Stevie Ray to become the WCW World Television Champion! During the match, Chris Jericho kicks referee Mark Curtis in the groin as he has Stevie Ray in the corner, allowing The Giant to rush in and headbutt Stevie Ray before hitting him with the choke slam. Jericho wakes up Anderson, then locks the Lion Tamer in on Stevie Ray, who is knocked out, and wins the title.
Eric Bischoff and Miss Elizabeth show up. Bischoff says that as assistant to the president of the company, Elizabeth should understand how it is to make tough executive decisions on a daily basis. He mentions the "gag order" that covers the main event of Road Wild, and says he will violate that order as the fans have the right to see the events of that match. As expected, Bischoff insists he and Hogan beating Diamond Dallas Page and Jay Leno last night, and tells everyone not to watch The Tonight Show, as Leno is a liar and a thief and that any footage he has will be doctored. It is then realized by the commentary team that they were had all along, as the WCW executive in question was Bischoff the whole time.
Rey Mysterio, Jr. beats Lizmark Jr. and Psychosis in a Triple Threat match despite the damage to his left leg.
We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.
Lex Luger beats Bret "The Hit Man" Hart to become the WCW United States Heavyweight Champion! During the match, Lex Luger has Bret in a sleeper when Bret pushes Luger into referee Charles Robinson. bret pulls out a foreign object, but Luger dodges it and puts Bret in the Torture Rack to win the match and the title. The rest of nWo Wolfpac celebrates with Luger in the ring after the match. Pyrotechnics then signal the start of the third hour.
Juventud Guerrera retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Kidman.
Before the next match, Raven says that the Flock has let him down, after they failed to show up for Road Wild. Raven hits Riggs with an Evenflow DDT, calls Lodi "worthless," and slaps Horace for costing him the match before attacking him.
Horace beats Raven. During the match, Kanyon shows up and is confronted by the entire Flock. This allows Saturn to come out through the crowd, hit Raven with a Death Valley Driver into the stop sign, and place Horace on top of Raven.
We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.
Curt Hennig beats Konnan by disqualification. During the match, Hennig pulls out a chain and wraps it around his fist to hit Konnan. Referee Billy Silverman stops the punch, but the chain flies off and Konnan grabs the chain to choke Hennig from behind with it. The referee sees the chain and disqualifies Konnan.
Sting and Kevin Nash beat Scott Hall and The Giant by disqualification after The Giant choke slams the referee. Scott Hall and The Giant retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships.
nWo Hollywood and nWo Wolfpac show up and head to ringside for the next match.
Goldberg retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Meng, after Meng lets go of the Tongan Death Grip thinking he has won. Goldberg is attacked by nWo Hollywood, but it has no effect on his ability to win. After the match, Hollywood Hogan hits Goldberg in the back with a steel chair, and Kevin Nash wrestles the chair away from Hogan, who then rolls out of the ring. When Goldberg gets back up from the chair shot, he believes that Kevin Nash hit him with the chair, and breaks him in half with a Spear to end the show.
