Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for August 31, 1998

Eric Bischoff and Hollywood Hogan show up. Bischoff says he is packing a deadly weapon in the form of a pen, saying Eddie Guerrero will wrestle tonight while The Warrior will not, and that hte pen makes him the most powerful man on the wrestling planet. Hogan says that War Games is around the corner, and that nWo Hollywood will take advantage of the situation by etching into history that he is the most powerful force in wrestling today. When they hit the ring, Stevie Ray will prove his loyalty to him, and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart will also be at his side. Once he gets all the cowards to the side, The Warrior will be history, and once he puts him to rest, his sights will be set on Goldberg and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, and the belt will come back to him for an eternity. Bischoff says something to Hogan, and Hogan decides to call The Warrior out so he can beat him in the ring. The Warrior immediately makes his presence known, and Hogan states that the fire coming from the ring pyro symbolizes the fear in his eyes, and that he will crucify him. The lights grow dim and start flashing, then smoke billows from the arena. The rest of nWo Hollywood tries to ambush The Warrior, but when the lights come back on, he has vanished.

Goldberg is seen signing autographs at the nearby Pro Players Stadium, and also is seen with popular baseball player Mark McGuire.

Wrath beats Jim Powers with a pump handle slam that is known as the Meltdown, then attacks him after the match. Just before the Meltdown, Jim Powers injures his knee.

He knows that the match was unfair towards him, but he is a honorable former Army airborne Ranger who follows a code of honor, and he will not let Raven's Flock sully his pride or rape his honor. As for what Lodi has in store for him, all Saturn says is that pain is temporary and pride is forever.

nWo Wolfpac (Kevin Nash, Konnan, Lex Luger) shows up. Lex Luger says Hollywood Hogan and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart are in the fighting spirit. They accept their challenge from earlier tonight after stating that Sting is on the way tot he arena, and tells Hart that since he looks up to Sting so much, he has a bit of a dilemma in the ring tonight. Kevin Nash says that nWo Wolfpac is not the leader, and that they are all a unit. Nash then announces that he, Sting and Lex Luger will represent nWo Wolfpac at War Games. He then talks about last week, and tells Diamond Dallas Page he has until next Monday to choose which he will go. As for "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, is Piper sticks his nose in their business, he will pay the price. Nash then compares The Warrior to Rip Van Winkle waking up to four wolves surrounding him, with one wolf biting his hand off when he tried to pet him and the other three joining in the feeding frenzy. Nash then says that if you're at War Games and you're not part of nWo Wolfpac, you're being hunted by the pack.

Tony Schiavone interviews WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon, who says he is here strictly in unofficial capacity, and asks "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson to come to the ring so they can have a talk. Arn Anderson shows up and heads to the ring. Dillon says that when he became part of the WCW Executive Committee, he had to recuse himself from any and all special interest groups including The Four Horsemen, but when he left CNN Center many nights, he would go back home and pull out videotapes of the glory days of the Horsemen, and admits they were some of the best times of his life. The other day, as he went through some tapes, he found an old tape, which he had to share upon seeing it. We see an old Mid-Atlantic wrestling promo from over 15 years ago, where Anderson is cutting a promo on the beach. Dillon then talks about how he went to bat for Anderson and made him the heart and soul of the Horsemen, and that everytime he thinks of WCW and the Horsemen, he thought of Anderson, and that as long as the Horsemen were riding, everything would be okay. Two years ago, the black and white faded away, and he wondered if they would ever ride again when Steve "Mongo" McMichael and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit were coming to him for direction and advice only to tell them "they just don't get it." Dillon says it is Anderson who doesn't get it, and brings out Benoit (with a brace on his left arm) and Mongo. As Benoit and Mongo talk privately with Anderson, Dillon says he has a good feeling that he has not felt in a long time. Anderson is about to leave the ring when Dillon stops him, and tells him he was there for him when he needed him. Anderson asks Dillon "Why are you doing this to me?" Dillon simply tells Anderson he thinks he is afraid of what is going on. Anderson heads back to the back.

He says Eric Bischoff thought his pen would keep out anybody he helped bring in and says that pen ran out of ink. As for Hollywood Hogan, he is not the only one with a shot at winning War Games, and brings out WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Piper talks about his history with Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, and wants to know what his major malfunction is. He says that Hogan is conning Bret for everything he has, and that he was his friend. Scott then says he has brought his doctor with him again, but he still has a problem with WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon questioning the seriousness of his injury, and says that he will bring out a panel of doctors who will prove he is not 100%. Dr. Schwartz says he has a brought a doctor from Jamaica named "Dr. Juju Ubangi," and Scott brings this second doctor out. The second doctor is really Buff Bagwell pretending to be a Jamaican witch doctor, and says he will heal him if he just concentrates on him. He then tells Scott to lift his left arm up, and he is finally able to lift it. Buff then says Scott is healed, then reveals he is Buff Bagwell. Scott then tells Rick Steiner that he can train all he wants, but he will never look like him and he will never beat him. At Fall Brawl, Rick will find out he is the better Steiner brother.
