The Patriot beats Owen Hart by disqualification after The British Bulldog interferes. Bret "The Hit Man" Hart arrives after the bell rings, and the three of them attack The Patriot until Vader shows up and fights The Hart Foundation (Bret, Owen, Bulldog) off, and throws Bret into The Patriot and into an Uncle Slam. Referees have to restrain The Patriot as Bret rolls out of the ring.
We see a statement from earlier in the week from WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter. Despite doctor's orders and potential paralysis, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin wants to return to the ring. Therefore, it is in the opinion of the World Wrestling Federation, Austin is not allowed back in the ring until he has successfully completely rehabilitation, as Austin has more guts than he does brains. He also suspends Austin and orders him to give up his half of the WWF Tag Team Championships at Ground Zero. We then see footage of Austin, who tells the camera crew that shows up at his house to head back to Stamford, Connecticut, then changes his mind and decides to have the interview, which will be shown later on.
On the WWF Superstar Line, Brian Pillman's plans for Marlena are exposed on The Ross Report on Option 3.
Sunny shows up before the next match.
We see footage of the interview with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. He shows off the get well message he has gotten from WWF, which contains pictures of Jim Ross, Vince McMahon, Owen Hart, WWF President Gorilla Monsoon and former President Jack Tunney. He asks somebody to put the pictures on the target range as that's where he feels they belong. Austin wants to know why he is suspended when he has done nothing wrong, and says he will wrestle any day of the week and that the office is just trying to save themselves from a lawsuit when the last thing he wants to do is own the WWF. He says Owen Hart will get payback for dropping him on his head. We then see the pictures from earlier on a target deer, which he shoots at with a crossbow while making fun of everyone in them. Austin says he's going to be at Ground Zero, saying he'll give the WWF the tag belts if he wants to, but the Intercontinental Championship is staying with him.
Before the next match, Dude Love says he's feeling mighty down due to the vacancy of the tag team titles. The British Bulldog attacks him before he can say anything else.
Dude Love beats The British Bulldog by disqualification after Owen Hart shows up and attacks Dude Love. Owen grabs the microphone and tells "Stone Cold" Steve Austin he will break Dude Love's neck like he did Austin's. The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) make the save before he can do it. Dude Love invites The Legion of Doom to dance, but they decline.
Sunny interviews Brian Pillman. Pillman says Marlena will have to swallow her pride at first, but he thinks everything will be all right as he won't make Marlena do anything she's hasn't already done with him.
Jim Ross interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart in the ring. Bret says the American wrestling fans mistake a short memory for a clear conscience, as he remembers when they turned their backs on him and says that they treat their heroes like crap. Bret says he has proved over and over again that he is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be, but he still can't get the respect he deserves. He tells the American wrestling fans he hasn't forgotten anything, and he plans to destroy their heroes one by one. He tells The Patriot that victory will be his and that this is the moment he's been waiting for. At Ground Zero, he won't see The Patriot; instead, he will see the American wrestling fans, as he says that The Patriot hides his face because he's a hyena just like the rest of the American fans. He says it's time to stop being nice and to start setting an example, and he wants his fans around the world to look away and not judge him as he beats The Patriot so badly he'll be the only guy in Heaven in a wheelchair and he'll wish he never messed with him or The Hart Foundation (Bret, Owen Hart, The British Bulldog). He plans to end The Patriot's career at Ground Zero.
Sunny interviews "Ravishing" Rick Rude. Rude is here because he loves action...and physical attraction. He doesn't say exactly if he will be at Ground Zero (though he will be at the penthouse suite at the Marriott), and says that he is a businessman who sells insurance policy before telling Sunny she needs some protection of her own.
The Undertaker beats Hunter Hearst Helmsley by disqualification. "Ravishing" Rick Rude shows up during the match, and he distracts The Undertaker so that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels can attack 'Taker. Chyna grabs a steel chair as Helmsley, Rude and Shawn attack 'Taker as referees try to restore order, but 'Taker comes to and choke slams Gerald Brisco and a member of security while attacking a few referees. Shawn and company retreat while 'Taker leaves through the crowd.
Sunny interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, who says he's going to draw first and last blood at Ground Zero.
The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) beats Los Boricuas (Jesus Castillo and Jose Estrada, Jr.) by disqualificaton after The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) show up and attack Hawk after he goes after them. Savio Vega and Miguel Perez of Los Boricuas also show up, as does The Disciples of Apocalypse (Crush, Skull, 8-Ball, Chainz). Los Boricuas and The Disciples of Apocalypse brawl in the ring - with The Disciples of Apocalypse coming out on top - while The Legion of Doom and The Godwinns take it backstage.
We learn about The Patriot's college football career from when he was better known as Del Wilkes. George Rogers, a 1980 Heisman Trophy winner and teammate of Del Wilkes, says that he was a great player on the field and had the talent to become a wrestler, and that the qualities he had in football also worked for him in wrestling. We also learn that The Patriot got his start in wrestling in Japan, where he was a babyface American hero-type character known as The Patriot who was cheered and appreciated by the fans despite being in Japan. The Patriot says that Bret "The Hit Man" Hart has the right to feel how he feels, and that he can't change that, but he couldn't continue to let him trash America. By doing this, he put a big target on his back. He has a one-win advantage on Bret, and knows he can beat him again.
Ahmed Johnson recently showed up at Camp Cool J. It is announced that Ahmed Johnson will be back in action in three weeks.
"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats Salvatore Sincere with the ankle lock.
Scott Putski beats Steve Casey in a Light Heavyweight Division match.
Sunny interviews Paul Bearer, who says Vader needs to understand where his allegience lies: with him, not America. He then says Kane will come, there won't be a fat lady singing, and instead, there will be a fat man, and that's him.
The Interrogator beats Sonny Rogers and Jerry Fox in a 2-on-1 handicap match.
Ground Zero will be the first In Your House pay-per-view to be three hours long. The first 2500 people who purchase Ground Zero and send in their cable bill as proof of purchase will receive a WWF live event program guide and a pop-up piece with "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels on it. Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for September 1, 1997
Tonight's special three-hour edition is dedicated to "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, who retired from in-ring competition last week.
The Four Horsemen ("The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) beat Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero after Dean Malenko shows up, pushes Eddie Guerrero off the top rope as the referee is preoccupied with Debra McMichael, and hits a top rope splash on Jarrett to put an end to his Figure Four Leg Lock. During the match, it is announced that Lex Luger, Diamond Dallas Page and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair are part of WCW's team at War Games at Fall Brawl.
Lex Luger compliments "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson on his talent and career and wishes him a happy retirement on behalf of WCW.
This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Diamond Dallas Page! Alex Wright! The Giant! Curt Hennig! Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) vs. High Voltage (Rage and Kaos) in a no-disqualification match!
Scott Hall, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth show up. They head to the commentary table, wish the fans a happy Labor Day weekend, and says the nWo is everyone is in the stands tonight and watching from home as they are the working man's champion and are doing it for the little people, like "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko who have never had anything o on through their life, so they can live through them. Hall talks about people having jobs they hate who want to tell their boss to stick it, but can't, and the nWo comes out time after time to do just that to WCW. Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Larry Zbyszko leave, and Savage says Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page won't have a holiday tonight, unless they can't get their unity together, and in that case, he and Hall will give them a permanent holiday. Hall tells the fans not to worry as the nWo will keep being too sweet. They then leave the commentary table.
Mortis beats Silver King. After the match, James Vandenberg calls out The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian) so he can add their severed heads to his collection. It doesn't take long for them to show up, start an instant brawl and clean house.

We look back at Bash at the Beach 1994, when Arn Anderson turned on Dustin Rhodes.
Yuji Nagata beats Dean Malenko after Jeff Jarrett and Debra McMichael show up and Debra distracts the referee so that Jarrett can get Malenko's attention and attack him from the apron. Jarrett holds on to one of Malenko's feet to assure Nagata the victory.
Diamond Dallas Page says the first word that comes to mind when he thinks of "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson is respect, because when he got in the ring, he gave it his all.
Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Before the next match, Sonny Onoo carries a framed portrait of himself putting Ultimo Dragon in the Dragon Sleeper next to Psychosis on the way to the ring.
Ultimo Dragon beats La Parka when Sonny Onoo tries to distract the referee so that La Parka can hit Ultima Dragon with a steel chair. Ultimo Dragon ducks the chair shot, however, and drop kicks the chair into La Parka's face for the win. After the match, Sonny Onoo tries to pass the buck and tell the referee that Ultimo Dragon used the chair to get the win and reverse the decision over to La Parka, but the referee sides with Ultimo Dragon. Onoo tries to beg Ultimo Dragon for forgiveness, but Ultimate Dragon turns his back on him, and when Onoo kicks him in the back of the head, Ultimo Dragon turns around and body slams Sonny Onoo in the ring before he runs out of the ring to avoid another potential chair shot from La Parka.

Despite Villano IV and Villano V switching places, Lizmark, Jr. beats Villano IV. During the match, it is announced that Rey Mysterio, Jr. will not need surgery on his knee, and that he will back within in a month with a knee brace. Also, Raven is seen in the crowd during the match. He is very briefly seen sitting in the front row near the aisle as Villano IV and V leave (blink and you'll miss it).
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger, who says that he and Diamond Dallas Page are not seeing eye-to-eye, and admits he did not know he put Page in the rack. He apologizes to Page, and says he feel swhat Page went through when he had to deal with the nWo himself. Luger admits that the nWo has great athlete, but their foundation is built on smokescreens, subterfuge, lies and deceptions, and he does want himself and Page to fall for these things. He asks Page to come to the ring so they can bury the hatchet, but page doesn't show up, and Luger says he's going to get his answer from Page in the ring tonight.
We look back on the April 12, 1993 of WCW Worldwide, as "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson hits a nasty spinebuster on "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton.
We see another performance from The Nitro Girls...and Disco Inferno, who hasn't been seen on Nitro in quite some time, joins in this time around. After The Nitro Girls show up, Alex Wright shows up and Disco watches him dance. This leads to an impromptu dance off between the two men that turns into a brief shoving match and a brief staredown before Disco leaves.
Alex Wright retains the WCW World Television Championship against Hugh Morrus. During the match, Disco Inferno is seen watch ing the match from ringside, and he hits Hugh Morrus in the back of the head only to be dragged into the ring and punched out. This distraction allows Alex Wright to get the win after he puts his feet on the rope for leverage.
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan says 10 seconds is enough to talk about "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson's career, and he thanks Anderson for his career as he wishes that he - and the people - had more time.
The Nitro Girls are seen at the commentary table again as the sweepstakes for the live Nitro Party broadcast contest is re-announced.
We see a video package of Sting, the message from the end of Clash of the Champions XXXV and his actions from last week's Nitro.
Before the next match, Damian sees Raven, stares at him for a few seconds, then walks towards the ring. Raven attacks Damian from behind, then the match starts. Stevie Richards, Damian's opponent, performs CPR on Damian, then asks Raven what happened. Raven slaps him, then Stevie pins Damian for the win.
Dean Malenko puts "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson on the top of his list of some of the greatest competitors he's seen through the years, and wishes him the best of luck on his future endeavors.

Ever since he came to WCW, he showed up in a lot of different names and outfits, and now goes by his real name, Ray Traylor, and says he is a human being just like everyone else in the arena. He talks about how he was attacked from behind when he is in the nWo, and how he was told that his career was over and that he would never wrestle again. He learned that "nWo 4 Lyfe" is a bunch of crap, as he didn't get one letter, phone call or card by the nWo and that all he got was a FedEx from Eric Bischoff saying his services in the nWo were no longer needed. Traylor now has a picture of Eric Bischoff at all times, and every time somebody told him he wouldn't walk or wrestle again, he looked at the picture and took a step. He plans to rip Bischoff's head off, as nobody kicks him when he is down.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen...who turns out to be Konnan dressed as Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Syxx dressed as "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Syxx brings out "Curt Hennig," who is really Buff Bagwell dressed up much like Curt Hennig in street clothes with a fake blonde ponytail on the back of his hat. "Flair' asks if "Hennig" is in or out, and "Hennig" tells him he can't give him or these people an answer tonight as they make fun of earlier tonight when the real Curt Hennig became a part of the real Four Horsemen. "Flair" brings out "Arn Anderson," who is really Kevin Nash in a bald cap, a wig, a neck brace and a grossly over-exaggerated beer belly. "Arn Anderson" brings a cooler to the ring, and tells them "The beer's on ice" before he mocks the real Arn Anderson, and says that the WCW fans were wondering when he was going into labor before mocking Arn Anderson's injury and retirement by saying the left hand is "the hand I open beer with." Water drips from the Ric Flair wig Syxx is wearing, as if to mock Flair crying over Anderson, as Nash parodies Anderson's retirement speech. The four of them unbutton their shirts to reveal that they are wearing "Four Jackasses" T-shirts underneath.

Before Chavo Guerrero, Jr. can face Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero shows up and tells Chavo Guerrero Jr. that he gave him the opportunity to be a man and be the Cruiserweight Champion nine months ago, but he couldn't do it. He tells Chavo to step down and let "Uncle Eddie" take care of business. Chavo tells Eddie he was supposed to watch his back, but he didn't. Scotty Riggs shows up and wants a piece of Eddie, but Eddie tells him to go away. Prince Iaukea shows up, as does Damian, Billy Kidman (who hasn't been seen in months on Nitro), Cicploe, and Super Astro. Everybody fights each other in an impromptu battle royal. Silver King, Villano IV, Villano IV, Ultimo Dragon, Alex Wright, Super Calo also show up for this impromptu match. Eddie Guerrero ends up using the Cruiserweight title as a weapon against Jericho.
The Giant congratulates "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson on his retirement, saying he earned it and deserved it.
Eric Bischoff and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan show up. Hogan says Sting is nobody without his baseball bat, and that he has beaten nobody as of late, and tells him if he wants to be a superstar or god like him, he should look into getting dry cleaning for his trenchcoat. He goes on to say that Sting looks like Columbo in the trenchcoat, and that Sting is a "Hollywood wanna-be," before calling him out and telling him to meet his master so that his fans can see him get Stung. Bischoff says he wants a piece of Sting after Hogan is finished with him. After waiting a few seconds, Bischoff and Hogan give up on waiting on Sting, then call out WCW Executive Committee head James J. Dillon, who shows up. As Hogan says he has an answer for Dillon, he punches him and hits him with a couple of leg drops. Tony Schiavone leaves the commentary table in disgust for a few seconds, refusing to call this, as Bischoff spray paints "Bite me" on Dillon's undershirt. Hogan then says Sting has been stung, as the nWo are just two sweet.

J.J. Dillon proclaims "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson was, is and always will be an icon among The Four Horsemen.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen...who turns out to be Konnan dressed as Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Syxx dressed as "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Syxx brings out "Curt Hennig," who is really Buff Bagwell dressed up much like Curt Hennig in street clothes with a fake blonde ponytail on the back of his hat. "Flair' asks if "Hennig" is in or out, and "Hennig" tells him he can't give him or these people an answer tonight as they make fun of earlier tonight when the real Curt Hennig became a part of the real Four Horsemen. "Flair" brings out "Arn Anderson," who is really Kevin Nash in a bald cap, a wig, a neck brace and a grossly over-exaggerated beer belly. "Arn Anderson" brings a cooler to the ring, and tells them "The beer's on ice" before he mocks the real Arn Anderson, and says that the WCW fans were wondering when he was going into labor before mocking Arn Anderson's injury and retirement by saying the left hand is "the hand I open beer with." Water drips from the Ric Flair wig Syxx is wearing, as if to mock Flair crying over Anderson, as Nash parodies Anderson's retirement speech. The four of them unbutton their shirts to reveal that they are wearing "Four Jackasses" T-shirts underneath.

Before Chavo Guerrero, Jr. can face Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero shows up and tells Chavo Guerrero Jr. that he gave him the opportunity to be a man and be the Cruiserweight Champion nine months ago, but he couldn't do it. He tells Chavo to step down and let "Uncle Eddie" take care of business. Chavo tells Eddie he was supposed to watch his back, but he didn't. Scotty Riggs shows up and wants a piece of Eddie, but Eddie tells him to go away. Prince Iaukea shows up, as does Damian, Billy Kidman (who hasn't been seen in months on Nitro), Cicploe, and Super Astro. Everybody fights each other in an impromptu battle royal. Silver King, Villano IV, Villano IV, Ultimo Dragon, Alex Wright, Super Calo also show up for this impromptu match. Eddie Guerrero ends up using the Cruiserweight title as a weapon against Jericho.
The Giant congratulates "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson on his retirement, saying he earned it and deserved it.
Eric Bischoff and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan show up. Hogan says Sting is nobody without his baseball bat, and that he has beaten nobody as of late, and tells him if he wants to be a superstar or god like him, he should look into getting dry cleaning for his trenchcoat. He goes on to say that Sting looks like Columbo in the trenchcoat, and that Sting is a "Hollywood wanna-be," before calling him out and telling him to meet his master so that his fans can see him get Stung. Bischoff says he wants a piece of Sting after Hogan is finished with him. After waiting a few seconds, Bischoff and Hogan give up on waiting on Sting, then call out WCW Executive Committee head James J. Dillon, who shows up. As Hogan says he has an answer for Dillon, he punches him and hits him with a couple of leg drops. Tony Schiavone leaves the commentary table in disgust for a few seconds, refusing to call this, as Bischoff spray paints "Bite me" on Dillon's undershirt. Hogan then says Sting has been stung, as the nWo are just two sweet.
Scott Hall and "Macho Man" Randy Savage beat Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page. Luger accidentally lays Page out with the running forearm, but gets Savage in the Torture Rack. Scott Hall, who is the legal man, takes advantage of the situation by pinning Diamond Dallas Page, who is the legal man on the other team, to get the win.

Friday Night's Main Event - Recap for August 29, 1997
"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels shows up with a steel chair in his hands to start tonight's show. Three weeks ago, he couldn't get anyone in the WWF to agree with him that what happened at SummerSlam was a mistake, but now everyone says it was a mistake. He says everyone conveniently believes him after what happened last week, when he was painted into a corner and into a situation where he had no other choice but to react. He says there are guys in the WWF with bad attitudes who call themselves ticking time bombs, but in the real world, he is the ticking time bomb who will be forced to be reactionary when painted into a corner and lash out without thinking. He says what happened last week was just that, and he has said over and over not to push him, but he was pushed too far and a reaction occurred. While it may not be the reaction everyone wants, it is a reaction nonetheless, and now everyone believes he has signed his own death warrant. Shawn then says there is only one guy who decides what he does and does not do: himself. One thing he will not do at Ground Zero is lay down and die for The Undertaker. He freely admits he did not want any of this to happen, but since he is the only guy with "a set of balls" in the World Wrestling Federation, he will go ahead and take whatever is coming to him. He tells The Undertaker have never, ever crossed paths, and at Ground Zero, he will lock up, and if The Undertaker wants to bring him down, he might be able to bring him down, but he will take The Undertaker and everyone else with him as he is going in a blaze of fire. After being agitated by crowd chants for The Undertaker, he threatens to get in the crowd and beat people. He then suggests that The Undertaker that it is not him will go down at Ground Zero, but it will be him who becomes the first person to make The Undertaker rest in peace permanently, the first time with a steel chair and the second probable time with a Mack truck, and he will dance all over his corpse when he is done.
Before the next match, Vader pumps the crowd up by saying it's Vader Time. When Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up, he says he can't understand how "a big tube of shit" can get a WWF Championship shot out of thin air, then tells him "I'm gonna kick your ass." Bret gets walloped with a clothesline as he threatens to "kick [Vader's] fat ass" before Vader breaks the wooden pole of Bret's Canadian flag over his knee.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart retains the WWF Championship. Jim Ross interviews The Patriot, who says there is no relationship between him and Vader, and says he will not let anyone get triple-teamed. He plans to throw a wrench in Bret's Ground Zero plans with his fists.

Goldust beats Salvatore Sincere. After the match, Brian Pillman is seen up in the crowd, saying it won't be long until Marlena spends 30 days and "30 long nights" with a real man, and asks how Dakota is doing. He apologizes to Goldust for him having to find out the hard way that "The Loose Cannon doesn't shoot blanks." Goldust jumps the guardrail and looks for Pillman in the crowd.
Dude Love beats Rockabilly. Jim Ross interviews Dude Love after the match, and Dude Love that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is anything but cool right now, but whether they keep the tag team titles or not, he will not stand alone as Austin is his horse whether he runs the race or not, as Austin doesn't take crap from anybody. Dude then dances with two women after the match.
Sunny interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. Bret tells her to get out, and Owen Hart tells Sunny to tell WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter to give "Stone Cold" Steve Austin back into the ring so he can end his career.
The Undertaker shows up. He tells Shawn there is a reason they have not touched in the last 10 years because he wanted somebody to go untouched and tell the story of The Undertaker, but Shawn ruined it. He then condemns Shawn to "an eternity of hell," and says that after 10 years, he thought he would be smarter, for as hard as he hit him, he should have known he was going to get up. The Undertaker then says he will continue to get up time and time again, because he gets up, takes people down and takes their souls. Next week, he will make an example of Hunter Hearst Helmsley, and leave as much of his rotting carcass to take back to the dressing room to show him what he has in store. When the blood flowed, he signed Shawn's death sentence with it, and Shawn will soon rest in peace.
Road Warrior Hawk beats The British Bulldog by disqualification after Owen Hart attacks him as he goes to the top rope. The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) show up during the match to watch from the stage. Animal takes Owen down shortly after, and The Godwinns, Owen and the Bulldog leave soon afterwards.
Sunny interviews Los Boricuas (Savio Vega, Miguel Perez, Jesus Estrada, Jose Castillo Jr.) in the locker room. They just wanted to have a nice ride with The Disciples of Apocalypse's (Crush, Chainz, Skull, 8-Ball) bikes before WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter forced them to return them. As for the Triple Threat Match at Ground Zero, he cannot wait to get in the ring with Faarooq for firing him and with Crush because he doesn't like him as he is always talking about Puerto Ricans.
The Disciples of Apocalypse (Crush and Chainz) beats The Nation of Domination (Faarooq and Rocky Maivia) by disqualification after Los Boricuas (Savio Vega, Miguel Perez, Jesus Estrada, Jose Castillo Jr.) attack Crush at ringside. D'Lo Brown and Kama Mustafa get involved, as does Skull and 8-Ball, and it turns into a 12-man brawl between The Nation (Faarooq, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, The Rock), The D.O.A. (Crush, Chainz, Skull, 8-Ball) and Los Boricuas. Referees, officials and even WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter are forced to get in the ring and restore order, and Dave Hebner gets body slammed in the brouhaha.
Taka Michinoku beats Jerry Lynn in a Light Heavyweight Division match.
The Truth Commission (Recon and Sniper) beats The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) after Sniper distracts the referee and The Interrogator knocks Thrasher off the top rope. Recon grabs the skirt during the pinfall.
Sunny announces that she will interview Rick Rude next week.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for August 25, 1997
The show starts with a recap of what happened at the end of Clash of the Champions XXXV.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Eric Bischoff, who says J.J. Dillon should have learned from him that sometimes, you don't want to give ultimatums, as they can sometimes bite you back in the ass. He tells Dillon to "bite me" and that WCW's ship will have to fly without Sting. It is announced that Dillon is live via telephone , and Dillon tells Bischoff that he may be jumping to conclusions as the fans have told WCW that Sting wants "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and that WCW has listened. Dillon officially promises that between now and the end of the year, there will be a match between Sting and Hogan. Bischoff is livid about this decision, saying this match will never happen because he says so and that Hogan has title defenses all over the world and movies and appearances to make. He calls Dillon "a fat tub of goo" and says that if Hogan wanted Sting, he'd take him in an instant. As he speaks, Sting shows up, gets in the ring, stands behind Bischoff and grabs him by the jacket collar. Bischoff begs for mercy, then Sting pulls out a "Hollywood Rules" shirt before covering Bischoff's head with it and pushing him to the mat with his foot. He pulls the shirt off, then stuffs it in Bischoff's mouth, much to the delight of the crowd. For the first time in many months, Sting smiles, then surveys and points the crowd while circling the ring.
We get another message from Raven: "We all commit certain acts in our lives of an unsavory nature. Some bad, some worse, some unspeakable. Sometimes we suffer in silence, sometimes we seek redemption. He's got what he wanted, but in attaining salvation, there's a price that must be paid. One must give up a bit of one's self. The road where - the end of the road, as it is - may not be quite what you expect. The glowing light at the end of the tunnel may not be the beacon of righteousness you envisioned. It may be some horribly disfigured fun house reflection of your own inner dreams. Quoth the Raven, nevermore."
We see a performance from The Nitro Girls.
Psychosis and La Parka beat Glacier and "The Cat" Ernest Miller after La Parka smacks Glacier in the back with a wooden chair while the referee is preoccupied with Miller. All of a sudden, Ultimo Dragon shows up and confronts Sonny Onoo. Silver King shows up and gets jumped by Dragon, and turns around when Onoo is about to attack him. Psychosis and La Parka then go on the attack, Onoo lands a karate kick, then Glacier and Miller fight with the luchadors after Silver King attacks Ultimo Dragon some more.
Despite feeling the effects of the post-match attack of the last match, Ultimo Dragon beats Silver King with the Dragon Sleeper.
Immediately after the previous match, Scott Hall, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth show up. Hall says everyone know by now that you can't have a party unless you invite the nWo. The three of them were talking in the back and know that they're the reason everyone is here tonight and everyone else is watching at home, as everyone wants to be a part of the nWo. Hall takes the opportunity to welcome their newest member, who helped them at Clash of the Champions: Diamond Dallas Page. Page doesn't show up, and Savage says he voted "no" for DDP, but the nWo didn't have a weak link, so it's cool that he's in. Savage says that Luger went to the very top, but ever since Road Wild, he's been in a slump. He then calls Luger out, and says he will punk him out. Hall tells Luger he doesn't have a friend in WCW or in Columbia, South Carolina.
This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Glacier! The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner)! Eddie Guerrero! Steve "Mongo" McMichael! The New World Order!
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Diamond Dallas Page. Page says that to join the nWo with "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Scott Hall is ridiculous, and equally ludicrous is the belief that he hit Lex Luger with the Diamond Cutter on purpose. He says everyone knows what he has went through to get to where he is, and that this is why Luger was his tag team partner. After the match, he could not get a hold of Luger, and he still has yet to do so as Luger isn't even in the building as of ten minutes ago. Page says Luger is a stand up guy, and if he shows up, they can straighten everything out and settle this like men, and not like low-lifes like Savage and Hall.
Jeff Jarrett beats "The Crippler" Chris Benoit after he reverses a successful superplex from Benoit into an inside cradle. During the match, it is announced that Lex Luger is in the building, but did not show up when Diamond Dallas Page called him out.
We see another performance from The Nitro Girls.
The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian) beat Mortis and Wrath after Meng pins Mortis with the Tongan Death Grip. Wrath and Meng fight after the match, and pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael). Flair brings out Curt Hennig to see once and for all if he is a part of the Four Horsemen. Hennig shows up, and Flair demands an answer. Hennig says he'd love to give that answer, but he's not ready to give that answer tonight. Flair then tells Hennig that, in anticipation of that answer, he has brought someone to town tonight to talk to him: "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, who hasn't been seen in the last couple of months. He says the thunderous applause from the crowd makes what he has to say mean that much more, as four months ago, four vertebrae were removed from his spine, leaving his left hand too weak to hold a glass or button a button, and the other day at the gym, someone the same size as Okerlund slapped him on the back asking where he had been, causing his left side to go completely numb. He now knows that he puts himself in a "suicide situation" if he tries to wrestle again, and that he can potentially risk the careers of Benoit and Mongo. Anderson says he would rather walk away than put his life in danger, and thanks the fans for all their support over the years, saying he gave it all he had in the ring and that he has has nothing left to give now. He asks to be remembered as he was, not as he is, and challenges Hennig to stand beside his best friend Ric Flair and lead The Four Horsemen back to the prosperity they once had. He gives Hennig not a spot in the Horsemen, but his spot as the enforcer of The Four Horsemen. Hennig says it would be a privilege, and Hennig shakes hands with the Horsemen as he is confirmed as a member of the group.
Steve "Mongo" McMichael retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Eddie Guerrero.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Rey Mysterio, Jr., who hobbles his way down the ramp. Rey wishes he was out here wrestling, but his knee is really bad. He made a mistake taking on Konnan at Road Wild, as Konnan wants to end his career. Tomorrow, he will see Jim Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama, and get news on what's wrong with his knee. Konnan shows upand says Rey only talks about what he's going to do and tells him to get himself a Happy Meal and call it a night before he breaks his other leg. Konnan kicks at Rey's hurt leg, and threatens to rip his mask off. The Giant approaches Konnan from behind, and when Konnan runs into him, he flees. Rey tells Konnan that WCW is his real family.
Eric Bischoff shows up, this time sneaking up from behind on the commentary team. He kicks Mike Tenay and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and guests on commentary, reminding "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko not to get within 50 feet of him. He guests on commentary for the rest of the night.
Chris Jericho beats Yuji Nagata with the elevated Boston Crab, now known as the Lion Tamer.
Lee Marshall calls from Pensacola, Florida - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Miss Jacqueline and Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray). Jacqueline is confirmed as the third member of Harlem Heat who will watch their backs from now on. As for who is #1 contenders for the tag team titles, Booker T gives The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) their just due, but he and Stevie Ray are seven-time tag champs, and he asks them to step to the side and do what they have to do to The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) as they are three the hard way. As Stevie Ray says that they never had to go to Japan or the WWF (up north, as he calls it) to get a reputation, The Steiners and Ted DiBiase show up. Scott Steiner say The Outsiders consider themselves the two luckiest guys on the face of the earth, and tells Harlem Heat they got the job done. Vicious and Delicious (Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell) and Vincent show up. Buff Bagwell tells The Steiners that The Outsiders beat them in the middle, tells Harlem Heat they can't beat the Steiners, and tells both teams they can't beat him and Norton. This leads to The Steiners and Harlem Heat fighting Vicious and Delicious and Vincent on the entrance ramp.

Dean Malenko beats Alex Wright by disqualification after Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero attack Malenko. Jarrett locks the Figure Four Leg Lock on Malenko while Wright and Guerrero attack Malenko from the top rope.

Lex Luger vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage ends with Luger pushing Savage into Scott Hall when he tries to interfere. After this, Diamond Dallas Page shows up. He tries to help Luger up, but he gets put in the Torture Rack to end the show.

Psychosis and La Parka beat Glacier and "The Cat" Ernest Miller after La Parka smacks Glacier in the back with a wooden chair while the referee is preoccupied with Miller. All of a sudden, Ultimo Dragon shows up and confronts Sonny Onoo. Silver King shows up and gets jumped by Dragon, and turns around when Onoo is about to attack him. Psychosis and La Parka then go on the attack, Onoo lands a karate kick, then Glacier and Miller fight with the luchadors after Silver King attacks Ultimo Dragon some more.
Despite feeling the effects of the post-match attack of the last match, Ultimo Dragon beats Silver King with the Dragon Sleeper.
Immediately after the previous match, Scott Hall, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth show up. Hall says everyone know by now that you can't have a party unless you invite the nWo. The three of them were talking in the back and know that they're the reason everyone is here tonight and everyone else is watching at home, as everyone wants to be a part of the nWo. Hall takes the opportunity to welcome their newest member, who helped them at Clash of the Champions: Diamond Dallas Page. Page doesn't show up, and Savage says he voted "no" for DDP, but the nWo didn't have a weak link, so it's cool that he's in. Savage says that Luger went to the very top, but ever since Road Wild, he's been in a slump. He then calls Luger out, and says he will punk him out. Hall tells Luger he doesn't have a friend in WCW or in Columbia, South Carolina.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Diamond Dallas Page. Page says that to join the nWo with "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Scott Hall is ridiculous, and equally ludicrous is the belief that he hit Lex Luger with the Diamond Cutter on purpose. He says everyone knows what he has went through to get to where he is, and that this is why Luger was his tag team partner. After the match, he could not get a hold of Luger, and he still has yet to do so as Luger isn't even in the building as of ten minutes ago. Page says Luger is a stand up guy, and if he shows up, they can straighten everything out and settle this like men, and not like low-lifes like Savage and Hall.
Jeff Jarrett beats "The Crippler" Chris Benoit after he reverses a successful superplex from Benoit into an inside cradle. During the match, it is announced that Lex Luger is in the building, but did not show up when Diamond Dallas Page called him out.

The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian) beat Mortis and Wrath after Meng pins Mortis with the Tongan Death Grip. Wrath and Meng fight after the match, and pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Four Horsemen ("The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, Steve "Mongo" McMichael). Flair brings out Curt Hennig to see once and for all if he is a part of the Four Horsemen. Hennig shows up, and Flair demands an answer. Hennig says he'd love to give that answer, but he's not ready to give that answer tonight. Flair then tells Hennig that, in anticipation of that answer, he has brought someone to town tonight to talk to him: "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, who hasn't been seen in the last couple of months. He says the thunderous applause from the crowd makes what he has to say mean that much more, as four months ago, four vertebrae were removed from his spine, leaving his left hand too weak to hold a glass or button a button, and the other day at the gym, someone the same size as Okerlund slapped him on the back asking where he had been, causing his left side to go completely numb. He now knows that he puts himself in a "suicide situation" if he tries to wrestle again, and that he can potentially risk the careers of Benoit and Mongo. Anderson says he would rather walk away than put his life in danger, and thanks the fans for all their support over the years, saying he gave it all he had in the ring and that he has has nothing left to give now. He asks to be remembered as he was, not as he is, and challenges Hennig to stand beside his best friend Ric Flair and lead The Four Horsemen back to the prosperity they once had. He gives Hennig not a spot in the Horsemen, but his spot as the enforcer of The Four Horsemen. Hennig says it would be a privilege, and Hennig shakes hands with the Horsemen as he is confirmed as a member of the group.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Rey Mysterio, Jr., who hobbles his way down the ramp. Rey wishes he was out here wrestling, but his knee is really bad. He made a mistake taking on Konnan at Road Wild, as Konnan wants to end his career. Tomorrow, he will see Jim Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama, and get news on what's wrong with his knee. Konnan shows upand says Rey only talks about what he's going to do and tells him to get himself a Happy Meal and call it a night before he breaks his other leg. Konnan kicks at Rey's hurt leg, and threatens to rip his mask off. The Giant approaches Konnan from behind, and when Konnan runs into him, he flees. Rey tells Konnan that WCW is his real family.
Eric Bischoff shows up, this time sneaking up from behind on the commentary team. He kicks Mike Tenay and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and guests on commentary, reminding "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko not to get within 50 feet of him. He guests on commentary for the rest of the night.
Chris Jericho beats Yuji Nagata with the elevated Boston Crab, now known as the Lion Tamer.
Lee Marshall calls from Pensacola, Florida - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Miss Jacqueline and Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray). Jacqueline is confirmed as the third member of Harlem Heat who will watch their backs from now on. As for who is #1 contenders for the tag team titles, Booker T gives The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) their just due, but he and Stevie Ray are seven-time tag champs, and he asks them to step to the side and do what they have to do to The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) as they are three the hard way. As Stevie Ray says that they never had to go to Japan or the WWF (up north, as he calls it) to get a reputation, The Steiners and Ted DiBiase show up. Scott Steiner say The Outsiders consider themselves the two luckiest guys on the face of the earth, and tells Harlem Heat they got the job done. Vicious and Delicious (Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell) and Vincent show up. Buff Bagwell tells The Steiners that The Outsiders beat them in the middle, tells Harlem Heat they can't beat the Steiners, and tells both teams they can't beat him and Norton. This leads to The Steiners and Harlem Heat fighting Vicious and Delicious and Vincent on the entrance ramp.

Dean Malenko beats Alex Wright by disqualification after Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero attack Malenko. Jarrett locks the Figure Four Leg Lock on Malenko while Wright and Guerrero attack Malenko from the top rope.

Lex Luger vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage ends with Luger pushing Savage into Scott Hall when he tries to interfere. After this, Diamond Dallas Page shows up. He tries to help Luger up, but he gets put in the Torture Rack to end the show.

Clash of the Champions XXXV - The Recap
Steve "Mongo" McMichael beats Jeff Jarrett to win the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship after Eddie Guerrero gets in the ring with the United States title and accidentally nails Jarrett with it from the top rope while Debra distracts the referee, which earns Eddie a toss out of the ring from Mongo. Debra tries to win Mongo back to her side after the match, saying he knew he could do it, but Mongo pushes her away and tells her it's not going to be that easy on his way out.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Alex Wright, who says they call The Ultimate Dragon by his name because he's going to drag him from one corner of Nashville, Tennessee to the other as he is the ultimate champion.
This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Wrath and Mortis vs. The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian)! Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko!
Before the next match, Raven tells the referee that if he's going to wrestle for WCW tonight, it will be on his terms: no disqualifications. Stevie Richards is okay with this caveat, which is quickly made a stipulation for the match.

His association with Japan, Mexico and America caused a slight mistranslation in his name: in America, he goes by the name "The Ultimate Dragon" which means "The greatest or most extreme dragon," while in Japan and Mexico, he goes by "Ultimo Dragon," which means "The Last Dragon". It is explained that he is the last student of Bruce Lee. His Bruce Lee kicks have propelled him onto the verge of stardom. From this point forward, he now goes by the name Ultimo Dragon.

It all turns out to be a swerve from the two men from Dinner and a Movie, who reveal themselves to be members of the nWo. "Macho Man" Randy Savage shows up, says that Claud and Paul have passed the test and are nWo "4 Lyfe," and that the party has been catered for the nWo. He says that "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan couldn't be here tonight as he is shooting a movie. We then see footage from Dinner and a Movie were Savage made a guest appearance as he announces that he and Scott Hall will take care of Diamond Dallas Page and Lex Luger. An nWo cake is then seen on the table, and the sparklers on it are lit as Claud and Paul make fun of DDP, saying that he's a pantywaist and that he's afraid and hasn't made it into the building. DDP shows up and trashes the Dinner & a Movie set before laying Paul Gilmartin out with a Diamond Cutter.

Eric Bischoff says when it rains, it pours, and then asks everyone to wish the nWo a happy birthday. He then tells Scott Hall it is an honor just to know him, and says that what Kevin Nash taught him couldn't fit into a single volume. Bischoff, however, feels the New World Order did not get what they deserve as they have yet to get their own show and if it wasn't for them, nobody would be at the show tonight. Bischoff says "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan sends his love, but requests bigger limousines and bigger Lear jets. Suddenly, a synth riff can be heard, and the lights dim in and out. Sting is seen in the rafters carrying a buzzard. We then hear a message that sou "When a man's heart is full of deceit, it burns up, dies, and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once-great man has risen a curse, a wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for our vindicator, someone to strike fear into the hearts of the same men who created him. The battel between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes a dark warrior, a prevailer of good, for a voice of silence, and a mission of justice. This...is...Sting." The lights go out, and when they come back on, the buzzard is seen perched on the top rope, much to the confusion of the New World Order.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for August 18, 1997
Tonight's episode starts with a speech from Raven: "Anguish, fear and sorrow are emotions we all feel, but never more strongly than in our adolescence. When just having an acne-ridden skin can mean a lifetime of loneliness. One acceptance by others is a barometer of one's popularity. If one is different, a misfit, unattractive, maybe un-athletic, one is in for a lifetime of cruelty and suffering that will traumatize permanently. You see, scars are souvenirs you never lose. The past is never far. You can try to repress it...you can try to hold it back. You can try to deny it, but it will still continue to grow stronger and stronger like a malignant cancer that can't be satiated. Each of us manifest our pain in different manners, whether it's three in the morning in bed, tears in one's eye...whether it's a need to destroy everything beautiful, or just simply shutting one's self off from society...my father never gave me what I needed, so I understand what it's like to do without. They should understand this. They should give what's needed. I can see this. I can feel the pain. Why can't they understand? Quoth the Raven...nevermore."

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat Vicious and Delicious (Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell) by disqualification after Vincent interferes. After the bell has rung, Harlem Heat cleans house.
The Barbarian beats Mortis. After the match, Wrath rushes into the ring and lays The Barbarian out with the Death Penalty, but Meng runs in and locks the Tongan Death Grip on Wrath. Mortis gets up and attacks Meng, but Meng refuses to let go of Wrath, who has to be pulled out of the ring.
Eric Bischoff shows up. He invites everyone in the crowd to his party Thursday on TBS, and it's called Clash of the Champions. His champions - "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) - are going to be there, and it will be a party in honor of them. He then mentions that "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko cannot get within 50 feet of him, just like The Giant. He thanks the Denver police for arresting The Giant last week, and warns him not to violate the restraining order again. He also tells James J. Dillon that the New World Order have been too patient, and that they are demanding their own show so that he can return to the commentary booth.

He says that later tonight, he will put The Giant six feet under on his back. Flair says he will ride Konnan hard, then tells Hennig to prove why he's Horseman material. Hennig says once again that he's too good to be true.
Stevie Richards beats Scotty Riggs after putting one of his feet on the rope, then Raven shows up and hits Stevie with the Evenflow DDT.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jeff Jarrett, Eddie Guerrero and Debra McMichael. All of a sudden, Alex Wright shows up and tells Debra he's ready to join her team, and that she should be honored at the chance to recruit him. Debra admits Alex Wright has some good points, but he's not a champion anymore. He tells Debra he'll get the Cruiserweight title back and then get back to her if he wants too, then leaves. Debra says she knows Eddie will become the Cruiserweight champ and that Jeff Jarrett will retain the United States title, but if Alex Wright does take the Cruiserweight title back, maybe she'll give him the time of day.
The New World Order wish themselves a happy birthday as part of the promotion for Clash of the Champions.
The Four Horsemen ("The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) beat Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero after Mongo scares Debra McMichael into dropping the United States title and smacks the US title into Jarrett's back as the referee is focused on Eddie.

Pyrotechinics signal the start of the second hour.
The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) show up. After Hall says that people are tuned in because of the nWo, Hall says that Birmingham, Alabama is most definitely nWo country. Nash then announces that they will be in a tag match against Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page, and everyone will say why they're the best that's ever been and why they're just too sweet.
We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.
"The Nature Boy" Ric FLair beats Syxx by disqualification after Vincent, Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell attack Flair. Curt Hennig runs into the ring, causing the nWo to clear out.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews referee Nick Patrick and WCW Executive Committee head James J. Dillon. Dillon notes that Nick Patrick explained his actions at Road Wild and that the matter is closed. Patrick has not second guessed himself, and says the review of his actions have been a waste of time, then says Randy Anderson has not done the right thing by costing Lex Luger the World Heavyweight Championship. Anderson shows up and confronts Nick Patrick, then Dillon says WCW has enough problems without having to deal with officials confronting each other over their officiating, and declares the interview over.
The Ultimate Dragon retains the WCW World Television Championship against La Parka with the Dragon Sleeper when Sonny Onoo's interference attempt backfires when he accidentally kicks La Parka into the back and into the Dragon Sleeper. After the match, The Ultimate Dragon drop kicks Sonny Onoo off the apron.
During The Giant vs. Curt Hennig, Eric Bischoff shows up to get within 50 feet of The Giant and get him arrested. Head of WCW Security Doug Dellinger shows up with police officers, but tells him that they will do their job if and only if The Giant gets near him, not the other way around. Bischoff gets testy with Dellinger, who tells him he will be arresteed for assault if he hits him with the restraining order again. As an irritated Bischoff backs off, he looks around and sees "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko approaching him from commentary. Bischoff tries to escape through the crowd, but The Giant grabs at Bischoff as police officers try to hold The Giant back.

He says there is too much distrust between WCW management and Sting, and that he has been one of Sting's greatest supporters up to this point. He does not have a new contract with him, and that WCW's patience is wearing thin. He asks that Sting tell WCW what he wants, and if he cannot do that, then WCW may be boxed into a situation where both parties have to go their separate ways. He has bought Sting some time, and tells Sting he has between now and Clash of the Champions to come forward and tell him what he wants. Sting shows up, this time through the crowd surrounded by a sea of police officers, and enters the ring. Ge grabs Dillon, then points at the crowd as the crowd chants "Hogan." He then leaves the ring again, but then he picks up a sign from a young fan that is now at ringside that says "Hulk vs. Sting," and shows it to Okerlund and Dillon.

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat Vicious and Delicious (Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell) by disqualification after Vincent interferes. After the bell has rung, Harlem Heat cleans house.
The Barbarian beats Mortis. After the match, Wrath rushes into the ring and lays The Barbarian out with the Death Penalty, but Meng runs in and locks the Tongan Death Grip on Wrath. Mortis gets up and attacks Meng, but Meng refuses to let go of Wrath, who has to be pulled out of the ring.
Eric Bischoff shows up. He invites everyone in the crowd to his party Thursday on TBS, and it's called Clash of the Champions. His champions - "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) - are going to be there, and it will be a party in honor of them. He then mentions that "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko cannot get within 50 feet of him, just like The Giant. He thanks the Denver police for arresting The Giant last week, and warns him not to violate the restraining order again. He also tells James J. Dillon that the New World Order have been too patient, and that they are demanding their own show so that he can return to the commentary booth.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Curt Hennig. Flair says Hennig may be the best thing going today, and will soon be one of the Four Horsemen. Hennig tells Flair that the two of them teaming up does not necessarily make him a Horseman, then asks where the competition is. He says that later tonight, he will put The Giant six feet under on his back. Flair says he will ride Konnan hard, then tells Hennig to prove why he's Horseman material. Hennig says once again that he's too good to be true.
Stevie Richards beats Scotty Riggs after putting one of his feet on the rope, then Raven shows up and hits Stevie with the Evenflow DDT.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jeff Jarrett, Eddie Guerrero and Debra McMichael. All of a sudden, Alex Wright shows up and tells Debra he's ready to join her team, and that she should be honored at the chance to recruit him. Debra admits Alex Wright has some good points, but he's not a champion anymore. He tells Debra he'll get the Cruiserweight title back and then get back to her if he wants too, then leaves. Debra says she knows Eddie will become the Cruiserweight champ and that Jeff Jarrett will retain the United States title, but if Alex Wright does take the Cruiserweight title back, maybe she'll give him the time of day.
The New World Order wish themselves a happy birthday as part of the promotion for Clash of the Champions.
The Four Horsemen ("The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) beat Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero after Mongo scares Debra McMichael into dropping the United States title and smacks the US title into Jarrett's back as the referee is focused on Eddie.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) show up. After Hall says that people are tuned in because of the nWo, Hall says that Birmingham, Alabama is most definitely nWo country. Nash then announces that they will be in a tag match against Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page, and everyone will say why they're the best that's ever been and why they're just too sweet.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews referee Nick Patrick and WCW Executive Committee head James J. Dillon. Dillon notes that Nick Patrick explained his actions at Road Wild and that the matter is closed. Patrick has not second guessed himself, and says the review of his actions have been a waste of time, then says Randy Anderson has not done the right thing by costing Lex Luger the World Heavyweight Championship. Anderson shows up and confronts Nick Patrick, then Dillon says WCW has enough problems without having to deal with officials confronting each other over their officiating, and declares the interview over.
The Ultimate Dragon retains the WCW World Television Championship against La Parka with the Dragon Sleeper when Sonny Onoo's interference attempt backfires when he accidentally kicks La Parka into the back and into the Dragon Sleeper. After the match, The Ultimate Dragon drop kicks Sonny Onoo off the apron.
During The Giant vs. Curt Hennig, Eric Bischoff shows up to get within 50 feet of The Giant and get him arrested. Head of WCW Security Doug Dellinger shows up with police officers, but tells him that they will do their job if and only if The Giant gets near him, not the other way around. Bischoff gets testy with Dellinger, who tells him he will be arresteed for assault if he hits him with the restraining order again. As an irritated Bischoff backs off, he looks around and sees "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko approaching him from commentary. Bischoff tries to escape through the crowd, but The Giant grabs at Bischoff as police officers try to hold The Giant back.
Lee Marshall alls from Columbia, South Carolina - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Executive Committee head James J. Dillon. He says there is too much distrust between WCW management and Sting, and that he has been one of Sting's greatest supporters up to this point. He does not have a new contract with him, and that WCW's patience is wearing thin. He asks that Sting tell WCW what he wants, and if he cannot do that, then WCW may be boxed into a situation where both parties have to go their separate ways. He has bought Sting some time, and tells Sting he has between now and Clash of the Champions to come forward and tell him what he wants. Sting shows up, this time through the crowd surrounded by a sea of police officers, and enters the ring. Ge grabs Dillon, then points at the crowd as the crowd chants "Hogan." He then leaves the ring again, but then he picks up a sign from a young fan that is now at ringside that says "Hulk vs. Sting," and shows it to Okerlund and Dillon.

Vince McMahon interviews "Ravishing" Rick Rude. He tells all the "fat, out-of-shape Atlantic City sweathogs" to zip their lips, open their eyes and pay attention to what a real man has to say. He fancies himself an "insurance salesman," whether it be short-term, long-term, life, disability or accidental. "You supply the buck, and I'll supply the bang," he says. When asked who is paying the premium, he says that doesn't matter and says he was paid to get the job done, then says one can never have enough insurance and that Vince could be in need of some more himself. After a play on the Allstate motto - "Like a good neighbor, Rick Rude's always there" - he says that if you're smart, "you'll own a piece of the Rude" and to "Get Rude. It pays." (The two quotes are a play on mottoes from Prudential and Metlife, two more insurance companies.) He tells Vince that to get the premium, you've got to pay the premium, and once it's paid in full, someone's in for a Rude Awakening.
Owen Hart and The British Bulldog tell The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) that tonight will be a preview of In Your House: Ground Zero, and that when they meet in the Fatal Four-Way that night, it will indeed be fatal.

Godwinn) attack The Legion of Doom behind the referee's back. All three teams continue to fight each other while referees and officials try to restore order.
Mankind says his mind has not forgiven and his body has not forgotten. Now, he has to team with The Undertaker, and he will either be the best tag team partner 'Taker has ever had, or the final nail in his coffin, and they will find out together.
"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels says Vince McMahon and the WWF is still giving him the shaft over SummerSlam, and he is being painted into a corner. He doesn't want to be with The Undertaker until Ground Zero, and doesn't want to tag with Hunter Hearst Helmsley. He accuses Vince McMahon of throwing him to the lions, and says that when he is painted into a corner, someone will get what's coming to them.

Flash Funk beats "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher in a Light Heavyweight Division match after Jerry "The King" Lawler distracts Christopher by telling him to put Flash Funk in a piledriver, allowing Flash Funk to bounce off the ropes and cause Christopher to land on the top rope by his crotch. Christopher and Lawler argue after the match.
The Undertaker says that patience is a virtue, but when it comes to "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, his has run out. Shawn won't make it to Ground Zero, as he will settle the score tonight. As for Mankind, he never forgives or forgets, and if he gets out of line, he'll take him out just like he will Shawn.

The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, Rocky Maivia) show up, and request an impromptu interviews with Jim Ross in the ring as the crowd chants "Rocky sucks!" Faarooq tells the fans that Ahmed Johnson is a white man dying to get out of a black man's body who wants to be pretty like "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels, and that he couldn't be white even if he was sandblasted twenty times. He also warns everyone to stand on their own two feet, as anything worth getting is worth fighting for and if you're weak like Ahmed, you don't have a place in The Nation. Faarooq goes on to say that he made Savio Vega and Crush, and if they want a street fight with him, they're in for a surprise as he is the streets, and he will grant them their wish and destroy them at Ground Zero. Faarooq then introduces Rocky Maivia, and says the fans soured on him. Rocky then mentions the "Die Rocky Die" chants, saying that this is about respect. He became the youngest Intercontinental Champion in WWF history, and all he got was "Rocky sucks" chants. He says he is a lot of things, but "sucks" isn't one of them. He calls The Disciples of Apocalypse "a racist faction," then says he and The Nation lives, breathes and dies respect, and that they will earn it by any means necessary. As The Nation raises their fists, we see Crush on the TitanTron, who calls them "A nation of constipation," and says the D.O.A. is here to kick ass and take names. He dares them to meet them in the parking lot and meet them face-to-face and fist-to-fist with no WWF Commissioner around if they've got the guts. The Nation run out of the ring and head to the back.

After the match, Michael Cole shows up and Goldust tells him he wanted to see him one more week in a dress. Brian Pillman grabs a microphone, and decides to call Goldust's bluff by asking him if he wants to see him gone for good. He then challenges him to a match, and if Goldust wins, he will leave the World Wrestling Federation forever. However, if Pillman wins, then Marlena is his personal assistant for 30 days, 24 hours a day. Goldust thinks Pillman is an idiot, but Pillman says Goldust isn't talking tough anymore now that he's thrown in the second stipulation. Goldust rejects the challenge, but then Pillman says that a piece of him is always around Marlena reveals that Goldust and Marlena's daughter Dakota isn't Goldust's daughter and is actually his love child. Goldust goes after Pillman, and Marlena accepts the challenge on Goldust's behalf much to the disappointment of Goldust, who tells Marlena that wrestling Pillman isn't worth it.
Vader says The Patriot's colors are red, white and blue, but they will change to black and blue because it's Vader Time.
The intro to the show replays to signal the start of War Zone.
Bret "The Hit Man" Hart shows up with the Canadian flag as soon as the next match begins, and watches the match from the stage.
The Patriot beats Vader, then Bret "The Hit Man" Hart makes his way down to the ring. As The Patriot is focused on Bret, Vader knocks him off the apron and send shim back into the ring. As referees try to restore order, Bret wraps the Canadian flag over The Patriot, stopping Vader from hitting The Patriot with the Vader Bomb and angerying him to the point that Vader breaks the Canadian flag's pole over his knee. Owen Hart and The British Bulldog rush in and attack Vader, then The Patriot gets back up, fights Owen and Bulldog, and is kept away from Bret as Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter forces a smiling Bret to the back.
We see an interview from earlier today between Jim Ross and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin makes fun of the fruit basket that the WWF gave him after he broke his neck. Austin says he's Intercontinental Champion now, and says he couldn't move his arms or legs for almost a minute and was afraid he wouldn't move again, but he's over it. He says Owen Hart has hell to pay when he comes back, and he's really pissed off. He says the doctors have told him he should do something else, but he's not listening to them and he's going to continue wrestling regardless of what they say. He says he's rode around in his four-wheeler while drinking a few beers while thinking about it, and while he plans to take a few days or a few weeks off, he intends to put the black trunks on and get back in the ring as it has taken him eight years to get to the WWF and a piledriver won't stop him from coming to Ground Zero and whipping somebody's ass as he is on a whole new level.
