Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 26, 1998

At the start of the show, it is announced that "Iron" Mike Tyson was scheduled to be special guest referee at WrestleMania 14 before wanting to fight "Stone Cold" Steve Austin following the events of last week.

Before the next match, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock brings back-up in the form of Ahmed Johnson and The Disciples of Apocalypse (Chainz, Skull, 8-Ball).

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry by disqualification after the rest of The Nation of Domination (Faarooq, D'Lo Brown, Kama Mustafa, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia) interferes. Ahmed Johnson and The Disciples of Apocalypse (Chainz, Skull, 8-Ball) immediately rush in to even the numbers game, and they and Shamrock end up standing tall after the match.

We see never-before-seen footage of what happened after Royal Rumble went off the air. The Undertaker's casket was broken open by WWF officials, but it is revealed that The Undertaker's body has mysteriously vanished.

We see pre-recorded comments from Barry Windham, now without his Blackjacks mustache, who says he was the best NWA champion ever and that he was tired of being a clown and having Yosemite Sam as a tag team partner. He then says that it is time for some real wrestling. Jeff Jarrett says that he himself will be the man to lead the NWA into the 21st century.

Jim Cornette guests on commentary for the next match.

Barry Windham and Jeff Jarrett beat The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) after Windham hits Animal in the back with Jim Cornette's tennis racket while the referee is preoccupied with Jarrett and Hawk outside of the ring.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley stands around with his pants down while Chyna and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels comically censor him with the European and WWF Championships.

In the locker room, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley tells Owen Hart that if he wants the best, he's got him like he's never seen him before. He may not 100%, but even at 50%, he is more man than Owen can ever hope to be and that he will flush the toilet one last time to "that cesspool in the South where you belong." "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels says he's a role model and says it takes one bad apple to spoil everything, and that bad apple is "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Shawn is considering foregoing his title defense at WrestleMania 14 so that "Iron" Mike Tyson and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin can duke it out to see who's the baddest man on the planet. Triple H says the only problem with that plan is that this is WrestleMania 14, and that he has to be there. Shawn says there has to be something he can do something to contribute to at WrestleMania, then JShawn removes his jacket to reveal he is wearing a referee's shirt underneath. After Chyna whispers into his ear, Shawn realizes he can be the referee for that match, considering he's done it before at SummerSlam.

Luna Vachon and The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust show up dressed like Vader before the next match.

The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust vs. Vader ends when Kane and Paul Bearer show up and Vader fights Kane off. Vader knocks Goldust off the apron, but Kane grabs Vader and somehow manages to put him in the Tombstone Piledriver.

We see footage from earlier today of Mick Foley and Terry Funk talking about their personas as well as The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn).

The intro to War Zone plays to signal the start of the second hour.

Before the next match, The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) show up wearing baseball catcher's vests and helmets as they make fun of Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie will promising to retain the WWF Tag Team Championships.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) retain the WWF Tag Team Championships by disqualification against Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie after excessive weapons usage. The referee is put in the Mandible Claw by Cactus Jack, and chairs are draped on top of Road Dog before Chainsaw Charlie hits him with a moonsault.

We see a video package of Taka Michinoku.

The Honky Tonk Man is guest ring announcer for the next match.

Pantera gets an upset victory against "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher in a Light Heavyweight Division match. Jerry "The King" Lawler, promising to shake hands with the winner of the match before it began, begrudgingly heads to the ring to shake hands with Pantera. Pantera prepares to shake almost as soon as Lawler extends his hands, then Lawler attacks him.

Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie says their match with The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) was fun. D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) shows up, but it's just a distraction for The New Age Outlwas to attack Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie from behind. Officials show up to restore order.

The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh) beat The Quebecers (Jacques and Pierre), then The Quebecers go on the attack after the match as referees try to stop the brawling.

Before the next match, The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust and Luna Vachon show up dressed like "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna respectively, with Goldust being dubbed "Hunterdust" almost immediately. The European Championship Luna is carrying looks legit, however. Goldust pulls off his Triple H wig short after the beginning of the match.

Owen Hart beats The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust. After the match, D-Generation X ("The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna) shows up on the TitanTron and makes fun of Owen Hart for facing Goldust in a match while mocking the Hart family. WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter shows up and admits "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley pulled a good one on him and convinced him that Goldust was him. Slaughter even goes so far as to say he was so convinced that he has to made a judgement call. Since Owen had a sanctioned match for the European Championship and that Slaughter is their commissioner, not only does Owen Hart get a victory against Triple H, but he also wins the European Championship. D-Generation X is livid.

Don King says that last we almost saw "Iron" Mike Tyson and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin go at it, and the hostility was so thick you could cut it with a knife. He announces that Tyson cannot fight Austin as per the Nevada State Athletic Commission, but says that he and Vince will come to an agreement on something for WrestleMania 14 that brings Tyson and Austin together without breaking the rules of the state Athletic Commission.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up. He says last week really pissed him off, as "Iron" Mike Tyson pushed him in front of the world and thought he would get away without payback. Austin tells Tyson he will find out firsthand not to mess with him, as he doesn't care if he is a boxer and he wants a piece of him. Austin tells Tyson he'll beat him up in either of their backyards or anybody else's backyard, and tells him he'll give him his contact information so he can decide what he wants to do. He then threatens to knock his gold tooth out and make it into a necklace. He admits that Don King has said Tyson can't be kept from making a living, and admits that getting his ass kicked by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin isn't much of a living. Austin tells Tyson that he'll be in Houston, Texas on February 15th, and dares him to show up so they can make it official and he can knock him out.
