Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 30, 1996

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin bets Jake "The Snake" Roberts after Jerry "The King" Lawler distracts Roberts and spits Jim Beam into his face. Lawler raises Austin's hand in vicotry before joining Austin in beating up Roberts some more, but Savio Vega makes the save by chasing Lawler and Austin out of the ring with his leather strap.

We see Mankind digging into the ground, while Paul Bearer tells him that The Undertaker will be digging his own grave on October 20th.

We see "Diesel" and "Razor Ramon" in the locker room, and it becomes clear that these two men are not Kevin Nash and Scott Hall.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley calls out Mr. Perfect, issuing a challenge to him so he can show him what the New Generation is all about. He then guests on commentary for the next match.

The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) beat The Grimm Twins (Jared and Jason Grimm). During the match, we hear from Mr. Perfect, who says he loves a challenge and says none of the New Generation have offered him a challenge. He accepts Hunter Hearst Helmsley's challenge, and gives him a few weeks to "get in shape."

Dok Hendrix files a report on "Double J" Jeff Jarrett, where it is exposed that Double J not only lip-synched "With My Baby Tonight" at the second In Your House, he did not even sing on the record. It is revealed that Jarrett struck a secret deal with "the real Double J," but news of the scandal breaking forced Jarrett into hiding. We then find out that "the real Double J" is revealed to be none other than The Roadie - now known as Jesse James - as we see a snippet of the secret rehearsal tapes recorded prior to the second In Your House event from July 1995.

WWF President Gorilla Monsoon guests on commentary for the next match to question Jim Ross' intentions and the authenticity of "Razor Ramon." Jim Ross shoots his mouth off even more than he did last week, and it becomes apparent that Jim Ross is a very bitter man.

Savio Vega beats "Razor Ramon" by disqualification. During the match, we hear from Dok Hendrix, who says that he has seen "Diesel" with his own eyes and is attempting to get an interview with him. By the time he opens the door and looks inside, "Diesel" is gone. "Diesel" then shows up at ringside and interferes in the match. After the match, Savio Vega eats both a Razor's Edge and a Jackknife Power Bomb as "Diesel" and "Razor Ramon" are called "fakes" by the crowd.

The Undertaker says he know Paul Bearer would come and bring Mankind with him. He tells Mankind his wish is his command, and that he will dig his grave and bury him alive.

It is announced that Marc Mero will defend the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Faarooq Asaad, and that Faarooq Asaad and Sunny have parted ways.

Next week on Raw: Sycho Sid vs. Goldust!

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels showed up to speak at MTV's Rock The Vote event at Macy's in Herald Square in New York City.

Vader and Jim Cornette beat "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Jose Lothario after Lothario chases Cornette to the back and Shawn's back gives out on him from trying to body slam Vader a second time. After the match, Vader goes for a second Vader Bomb, but Sycho Sid makes the save. Goldust runs in and double teams Sid, but Shawn goes after Goldust and the show ends with a tag team brawl.
